Haven't they got "Bunker" lights at Bunnings that would do the job and look pretty original for around $20??

I have seen a setup where an ornamental jar (jam or whatever) was used to make an outside light.....verrrry 50/60ish....looked good and looked the period part The globe holder was through the lid and the jar screwed off for bulb changing. Just use your imagination No patent fees will apply!!

I read somewhere that you should bump the tyres of the tow vehicle up by 4 or 5 lbs when towing.......yes air expands when heated , but so does a tyre.....and if it is underinflated the heat buildup will cause the tyre to become VERRRRY flexible and explode (blowout) Cross plies are the better tyre for caravans ets because of minimal sidewall flexing.............small truck radials are the next best option because of their stronger sidewalls.

It is not unusual for one of the plugs to be indicators & the other plug Stop & Tail light............seen a lot of this setup on old vans.
Usually 12 volt lighting was taken care of by an auxilliary battery or a 2 pin plug.........one vertical & one horizontal pin.

Last time someone went to replace the vinyl roof lining the estimate was about $2500. ALL your cupboards would have to be out to do the job. I am about to tackle putting in the windows that were supplied through Spider. Let you know how they go.
Just took a closer look at your "slideshow"......your van is Exactly the same as the one I am doing up now!.except for that add on beside the stove. Would be interested to find out your chassis number....looks like its twin. My chassis number is 6301 X88 ( Jan 1963 88th built) Have you tried to find it, it should be on top of the chassis about 8inches back from the coupling. Those "sunliner" logos are from the "modern" Sunliner campervan range.....so no need to try to preserve them!!

Just had a close look at your van "Miaow"..............looks like about 1962........I couldn't see a 'spear' moulded at the front, (63 did).....and the interior with the 2 big cupboards over the sink are the same as my 1963 model. When I get mobile I will post some pics on the 63...........after I put the windows in will do (pick up the rubbers this weekend)

While mentioning towing tips, Reddo gave me an invaluable tip that I want every one to know...........................bloody trucks overtaking you tend to suck you in don't they?...................well they don't if you accellerate about 5 meteres before they get to you....not fast enough to outrun em, but enough to let the van know YOU are pulling it along, not the truck. Worked a treat for me...........Thanks Reddo!!.
Re tyres and wheels.............Car...... EH 13 inch, Van .......EH 13 inch too easy!!

Why dont you simply find out your tow ball weight with a set of bathroom scales.............just put your coupling on them, using a bit of 50mm squ timber to achieve the tow angle.......if you know the weight of your van it should be 10% of that weight...........that might help in loading the van too, and placement of accessories.

maybe those stabiliser bars are pulling upwards.......would work then!........Had a central jockey wheel on a Coromal van I had but it was located independently about a foot towards the van from the coupling...........worked well!!............................................ Hang on a sec ..........if those stabiliser bars were pulled down , and had tension on them they would be trying to rip the coupling off the ball right

If it was painted with 2pack as it should have been if done correctly......then............I think you need proffessional advice From my limited knowledge, most strippers will damage fibreglass, so out with the sand paper.............a Random orbital sander is the go!! Humpty

If you want to test the last plan,go to Wallsend RTA. Nice people and pretty well "full bottle" on Concessional rego.

As you would know Reddo, you must be a member of a "club" recognised by the RTA (they have a list!!!.) Whether your TD can be registered via your bike club is a matter of your clubs constitution. Your TD could qualify as a special bodied by Reddo whatever...much the same as model T racers etc...............and don't forget.....Most vans back then were home made specials!!! Lastly , where do I get more details on this concessional rego for caravans.
