;D ;D ;D ;D Hi All Well... Coledale is closing in fast. Its September already. Thought i would jump on here and give everyone a big rev up about this years charity auction we will be holding on saturday arvo near the ammenities building..... As you all know we raised a motsa for Womens Breast Cancer Appeal last year.... Bidding was brisk and the shonk... umm... The Auctioneer ( MRFJ55) squeezed every last cent he could extract from us. Thanks heaps Maurie.. hope the "organisers "have engaged your services again this year.. So... This year its the Mens turn and we are aiming at raising a truck load of dosh for "Prostate Cancer"research. Which leads me to the point of this message.. We would like each and every one of you attending this year to dig deep amongst your Vintage vanning / camping goodies or what ever treasure you feel may bring a good price at auction and go pack it in your van RIGHT NOW!!!! All donations will be greatly recieved and we will acknowledge just who donated what at the auction . Aseen last year it Can be as little as a jar of screws right through to .. heck.. who knows... this year it may even be a fully restored DON caravan OK... OK.. perhaps i am being a little optomistic there aye.. Just take the time to spare a thought about the cause and why we are doing it.. ...and then go scrounging down the shed for those items that you have been squirelling away for that future project......that you know will never happen . Obviuoisly if you are a bit out of the ordinary .. and not a hoarder of trinkets like the rest of us .. Then a donation of a bottle of plonk... or something bought up at the shops on the weekend ( A couple of nice rump steaks for the saturday night BBQ might bring a high bid ;D) would be great... doesnt have to cost a fortune.. its the thought that counts .. ( and .. the dollars it brings) Anyway thats enough reving up from me.. dig deep guys and gals... Oh Yeah... Was gunna start another thread on activities this year. May as well raise it here.. A mate has a set of steel quoits.. whos up for a few ends on Friday.. Single and pairs maybe...Maybe the Blues V the Morons... ooops .. THE Maroons Fishing comp saturday morning NSW Tiger sharks V QLD stunned Mullets ;D ;D Yup.. Proof read... ...all seems in order..... my work is done here.. i must away now!!! Reddo

Anybody travelling to Coledale this year, who hasn't been to Bulli Pass since Coledale last year, should be aware of the major changes that have occurred at the bottom of the Pass. There is now a single-lane overpass in place at the bottom, to allow traffic from Wollongong to travel straight through to Thirroul. You can no longer turn right at the bottom of the pass. There is also a new off-ramp near the bottom of the pass, which is for traffic travelling down Bulli Pass to turn left to go to Thirroul. Astonishingly, I cannot find an up-to-date photo of the roadworks on the RTA website, so I've put together this photo showing the roadworks from a few months ago. The overpass and the off-ramp are now complete and in use. There are still other bits and pieces being done in that area, so caution should be exercised when passing through (it's the usual 40kph speed signs). 1. Travelling down Bulli Pass:Take the left hand off-ramp near the bottom (the yellow line in the photo). There's a Stop sign where the yellow line meets the orange line. I've never been on that off-ramp, so I hope there's plenty of room at the Stop sign for larger rigs (eg. Geoff and Jude's Roadmaster) to make the turn left. Maybe Tickos has a better idea of whether it's ok or not. 2. Travelling north from Wollongong / Mount Ousley:Once you have passed through Bulli town shops, move into the left lane. You MUST be in the left lane as you approach the Bulli Pass area, so you can veer off to the overpass (the orange line in the photo). If you are caught in the right hand lane at this point, you will have to go down to the bottom of Bulli Pass and travel up the Pass until you can turn around somehow (no easy feat with a van in tow!). There is no longer a right-hand turn at the bottom of the pass. Take care, and arrive safely! cheers, Al.

Hi to all Happy Coledalers, Yes it is me , I haven't dropped off the face of the earth - just been busy. SitesAll the sites have been sorted and the site list will be posted in a separate message. FundraisingThis year will be the "BOYS" year. I have contacted the Prostate Cancer mob & they are sending out some pins to sell. Auction -The auction sounds like it is a goer, had lots of people say they have goodies for the table - just have to convince the Auctioneer Extrodinaire his services are a must again this year (we'll just have to watch his assistant behaves himself). Thought we might try & kick the auction off about 1.30-2.00pm to give everyone time for lunch. Raffle - Malcolm & Pauline called into Kendalls a couple of weeks ago & have kindly donated a very good "Mystery" prize to be auctioned - thanks so much. I might try & organise a few more prizes for the raffle to make it even more interesting - maybe pinch one of the calendars Firefighter sent for the Auction etc. Cake Stall - we talked about the kids having a cake stall when we were at Munmorah & they were keen. Sue is making cupcakes, I'll make blue & white coconut ice and any other donations greatly accepted. Saturday Night - nothing has been agreed on, Ingrid's idea of the PJ party sounded great till I found out how many people don't wear PJ's. We threw around some ideas at Kendalls & came up with - dress in a letter to match your van eg Sunliner = something starting with S or wear something to match the era of your van or wear PJ's . It all sounds good - as long as we all have fun. So it's your choice - pyjamas to suit the era of your van, clothes to siut the era of your van or whatever you decide. Still waiting to sort out the street party thing, Norm is still away and it is a public road so might not be a go. There is always the grass area up near the surf club. Whatever happens I'm sure Coledale will be great, it always is a fantastic get together & let's hope it is sunny & warm. So be sure to travel safe & we'll see you all there soon Jude & Geoff

Hi Geoff & Jude,
I hope you are both well! Apologies for the delayed response, i haven't been on the forum for a little while.
Unfortunately i won't be able to make it to Coledale this year. I moved back to Melbourne late last year, and i can't get the time off work i need to give me enough time to make the trip (given its no longer a quick trip south of Sydney!
Anywho, i hope you all have a great time and get a good turn out.
Cheers, Jarrod.

Hi Geoff and Jude. If I manage to rearrange my life and decide to make the trip up to Coledale, am I too late for a powered site for my Carapark with my little dog? Or should I call the park people direct? Mel

hi mel
there's still some room for you if you turn up.
no need to contact norm - just be there if you get the time off work - we'll all look forward to seeing you.
the available sites are unpowered so if you don't have battery power, bring a torch.
hope you can make it.

hi all only 9 more days before we all meet up for another great weekend of unpredictable weather at coledale. just thought i'd mention that we'll have a bunch of the new vintagecaravan.com stickers for sale if you want to keep-up-with-the-joneses. keep an eye out for the posters out the front of our van. while the posters are up, we'll have stickers in stock. we'll have our camera with us, so if you want spend $10 to do a Member's Profile, we can take the photos for you and get your info for the profile. (you'll save money on stickers as well, because there's a free sticker to every member who does a profile.) mark also sent over some calendars that will be for sale so ask about them as well. looking forward to seeing you all again. geoff 'n jude ps - don't forget, those of you who have already had profiles done get a new sticker for free - just pm your address to mark and he'll send one over to you.

hi there folks Margaretsmum here I have made a huge mistake, don't ask me how, but I've got in my diary that Coledale is 22nd, I think I got confused with the cost of the powered site I cannot believe my error Margaretsdad will be overseas next weekend and despite my ability to participate fully in a mans world I cannot drive Margaret by myself from Canberra, in fact I cannot even hitch her up myself.
HOWEVER, I will visit for the day on Saturday and Sunday.
I will phone Norm tomorrow and pay any cost necessary.
I can recommend the cul de sac to anyone who has not yet put their van there, it is a very select spot with a lovely view, really nice.
I am very sad, I have been collecting vintage tupperware all year for Margaret. Again, I just cannot do the drive with van myself.
I cannot believe we have made this mistake.
