Hi all,
Times come again to think about next one. Boots & I are getting pretty keen to travel around a bit more after our trip to far south coast NSW & Coledale.
Lets see, we went to Fingal in Nov. 2005, Esk in Feb 2006, bribie in March 2007, Coolangatta ( Wintersun) in June 2007, & South Tweed Heads in sept 2007.
the last event was the first we organised in a dog friendly park, & most people brought their dog.
seeing sutcac & Barb had to camp in separate parks on the east coast tour, because they brought Tally dog, I believe we should aim at dog friendly parks if possible.
I cant fit anything in before Christmas, & we shouldnt even try to go anywhere in school holidays.
So what about February for next one?
Does anyone have a preference for a good spot, dog friendly park, & something to look at while we are there?
Its up for suggestions .

hi All,
Firstly we need someone to decide where to go. I dont think that many will travel all the way up to the deep north for a weekend, but who knows?
We can make Mackay from here in 2 days if we push it a bit.
I'm seriously looking on travelling up around Mackay area & inland as a tour for sue & I around the Wintersun week. I've been taking my rod to Wintersun for 10 years, & just about over it.
But as a weekend away, I think its impractical.
So come on, someone decide, or else I'll make a democratic decision in early December, providing someone else hasn't gone with an idea.

Could I suggest the Eumundi Caravan Park. Haven't been there a few years, but it was Jack frriendly. Great spot, what with the markets within walking distance on Saturday and the great Eumundi beer! Within a short drive to Noosa etc too! Ray

Hi all in STH E QLD
I wish you buggers would stop baiting me. I had a ball at Esk last year and I would have loved to come up to Noosa /Buderim/sutcac country next February but its just too close to the MT Gambier Vintage Van Nationals for me to get excited about . Got to keep stuffing the coins into the porcelain pig for the big road trip to south OZ in 2008 .. and possibly Uluru in 2009... Reddo

What about Broome's Head? Great spot right on the beach, trees, small village with pubs and last time we enquired dogs were allowed in the park.
It's going to be the first place we go when the van is fixed up and registered (our van leaves Melb tonight on its way north.
Could you make the date late in Feb so we can make it to your get together too?

hi All,
Broomes Head is on the coast south east of maclean, in northern NSW.
Its about 1 1/2 hours south of Ballina, or about 4 hours south of Brisbane central.
Its also about 5 & a bit hours north of Newcastle, so maybe some of the more adventurous NSW people could get there.
Its also a place I've never been, but lots of people I know reckon its great. I imagine it would be a very popular place, especially in the holidays.
We're staying in our van at Yamba this weekend, about 1/2 hour north of Broomes Head. I think we could get time to go & look around, & get some info & pix.
Lets see what happens.
Then its up to the forum members to decide.

Hi all,
We had a look at Broomes Head on saturday, & definitely no pets at all.
Its not a bad spot, but a bloody long tow for all you Brisbane area people.
We personally think the next event should be closer to Brisbane than Broomes Head.

G'Day All Thanks Dennis for having a look on our behalf and thanks Ray for suggesting Eumundi. I feel that it could be a little hard to find a pet friendly park in a good area and since our little dog would not know if it was at home or on the Greek-Isles I need the break not our dog. Ray I had a think about Eumundi park and I feel that if we drive the two hours I am going another 20 minutes to Noosa. My wife and I found a great park called the Noosa River caravan Park, This park is in a magnificent part of the noosa river with bbqs on a grassed area on the river. There is sites for 8-12 vintage vans maybe more. Adress is Russell st Noosaville and phone number is 0754497050 if you look the adress up you will see where it is on the River. Park has about 90 sites and is very tidy, I am not suggesting that this is the place as we are a group and would like to here input from other in vintage van land. David .

G'Day All. We have been looking for a suitable camping spot for our February get-together. My wife has found the perfect spot today, called the Oceanbeach Caravan Park, at Mooloolaba. This park has absolute beach frontage/ocean views. The weekend of Friday 8th February to Sunday 10th is available to us .....sites 25 through to 34, with additional sites directly behind. Park has just 34 sites, power and water, 2 BBQ's etc. For those members who do not like the sound of the waves lapping the sand, this will not be the park for you. Our new Don will be making its debut appearance on this weekend. Looking for people's input regarding this caravan park as we need to make a decision ASAP. While the Noosa River Caravan Park was in a beautiful location, the sites available during this period were scattered throughout the park, so we couldn't all be together, and only a very few of the sites had views of the water. Regards, David

Hi Dave & Ilse,
Sounds like a great place. It's probably the same park my father took us to, back in about 1955. I still remember the beach, and how far you could walk out in the water, compared to south coast NSW beaches we grew up with.
The dates are OK with us also.
Do you want to let David & Lyn know, or will I?
Go for it I think. Let us know if the park wants deposits.

If you can get 10 or so sites at this park, at this time of the year, then grab'em with both hands!!!!!!!!! Probably one of the last remaining oceanfront parks left in Southern QLD.....walk to pub, club, shops........a bit touristy, but you don't have to go there if you don't want to. The best fish n chips/ calamari in the southern hemisphere at the "Spit"... short drive! No permanents....all holiday makers.......could get good publicity , if you wanted me to arrange? No pets ......but would forego taking mutt cos we've got familly nearby to sit hound.
Clyde and Barb with bells on !
