G'day all. Firstly a big welcome to bubblesvanfan and your parents Gordon & Petrina we look forward to meeting at Mooloolaba when I read your post we rang the park and secured a place for your parents and their van on saturday the 9th of feb. Also our problem of not having sites for all vans if we all came on friday has been solved with Clyde putting his hand up to come in on saturday instead-of friday if needed, thanks again Clyde the cheques in the mail. Regards dosse.

Hi dosse, I'll be getting away from here at sparrow's on the Friday and trying to miss some of the Gold Coast/Brisbane rush-hour traffic by taking the Kyogle, Beudesert, Logan Central, Toowong, Strathpine way, if I don't get hopelessly lost. If all goes according to the master plan I should be in Mooloolaba by lunch time. (that's a guesstimate). As my rig is only 8 metres long I should be able to slot in somewhere on the Friday night if that's any help in the Friday night numbers. I suppose when I get into Mooloolaba I just head for the beach to find the caravan park? I'll try to find a street map of the town on the internet. Seeyasoon, phargan

G'day phargan Great that your getting away early if it was me I would come up the m1 then on-to the gate-way and then the bruce h/way.Go past the Ettamogah Pub and get onto the sunshine- motorway take it to the very end and turn left into brisbane rd then right into foote st then left into river esp and right into parkyn pde. This is where you will need to pay at this caravan-park you are a-cross the road from Underwater World, they will give you directions to where you need to be. PS the gate-way motorway is abit of a pig between 5.30 and 9.00 am but not impossible Regards dosse .

I am lucky to be at Strathpine on the northside of brisbane so I can jump straight onto the motorway. I am looking at leaving here about 9am Friday as I'd like to get a photo of mine and hopefully another one or two vans in front of the Ettamogah pub on the way. I know the directions so if anyone wants to avaoid looking at a map let me know. At this stage the Hillman wagon is playing up so if it isn't rectified by Monday I will hopefully fit a towbar to my 74 Sunbeam Rapier fastback and tow the teardrop up with that. It would certainly be a quicker trip with that car anyway. Rod G.

The Ettamogah Pub is one landmark I do know and can only but try to make it there by, say, 10 or 10.30 if I leave here at 5.00 in the morning. Even the sparrows aren't farting at that ungodly hour! Are they? Dosse, I think I shall be on my todd as her indoors is not enthusiastic about the idea. Ho Hum! phargan

Hi all,
We should be at ettomogah around the same time. I've got to drop off stuff at wavell Heights on the way up, I'm aiming at being there 9 am your time. So 10.30 at the Pub sounds feasible.
My mobile is 0416280027. I normally leave it turned off, but it will be on when I'm travelling.

Just to Clarify that there are two Etamogah Pubs and the original is in New South Wales but the Queensland one is better because it is on the way to Mooloolaba. I will try and make it at opening time (10am) and 10.30 officially there sounds good. As I am a newbie to this group just wondering if anyone runs a UHF in the cars. I will be toying with a towbar for the Rapier this weekend as tempermental Hunter is still being a pig but just look for the bright bright yellow teardrop. (yes I meant to say bright twice) Rod G.

Hey Clyde That storm came through here too - took about 5 minutes and kept heading east. Had major flooding in the street here two days ago though - what a mess. Re the weekend, the Propert is missing its innards at the moment, cos I'm rebuilding the cupboards and then repainting it to spruce it up a bit (similar but not like the outside). Thanks for the offer though. By the way, don't believe everything the BOM tell you - and don't say you haven't been warned. Reckon the surf will be massive this weekend. Ray

Clyde and everyone, Thanks for a great weekend. It was my first trip away in the teardrop and I certainly have a lot of ideas to make it more comfortable for the next one. I'll put toghether the article for Leaded Magazine in the next few days and it should be out in time for some interesting reading at the next get away in May.
Hope we can go back to Mooloolaba same time next year in same location but with more vans and I reckon we'll have even more people step down from the cafes to have a good look at the vans. Thanks again.
Rod G.

Congratulations Dosse, you have done a marvellous job on the Don, it's a credit to you. Actually thought of coming down yesterday, but rang the park to ask of Jack could come as a visitor and was bluntly told NO - so much for good PR! As though he was gonna save up his poop just so that he could leave it there for a present!! Bureaucracy is really going overboard these days in these coastal parks and councils. Ray

G'Day Collide. Thanks for bunging on the great pictures. The vans look great and a real credit to those that have restored them and are out using them. Rod... you are right the TD is Bright, bright. You lot where very lucky to get away without getting drenched. It has rained down here everday since the start of february. Had 40mm more than the monthly average and its only the 11th. I would have come up this year if Mt Gambier National Vint van gathering wasnt on . Will definitely make the effort to get up there next Feb and also again in June for wintersun. Thats a promise if we can gaurentee i get a ride/ drive of Schultzys Blitz... Luv it. ;D ;D Ray Paint some black stipes on jack and tell the van park gestapo that he is a rare indonesian pigmy zebra down on the coast for a holiday. Reddo

Here are a few more pics of the weekend. Phargan"s - Paul and Yoko - early Hunter Minor ( edited by idiot earlee from Rowvan ) Paul and Trish's sunliner and the Jailbar sunliner. shultzys teardrop. Dave and Lyns 1950's bondy. Sutcac and barb's 1966 Fugly. Earlee's 1964 Franklin Hollywood Dosse in trouble with the locals? No - they are looking for the fugly owner. RodG - yellowhillmansafari giving a few pointers, saying that sutcac wasn't here. Maybe he is in The Don. The Cops found their wanted man and took him for questioning about the naming of his caravan. Earlee.

G'day all. Well another top week-end away in the great south-east, we have been blessed with great weather again combined with a very sensational view and a very special group. We had for the first time Paul & Yoko,Graham & marg and Gordon & Patrina and Rod I trust you all had a good time and hope we will see you again. Ilse and I had our first trip away in the Don and it was all good, our group attracted a lot of attention with the newspaper and channel seven & the coffee drinker's up on the esplanade. I would like to thank every-body who attended and we look forward to our next time away. Regards dosse.

Hi guys and gals, Thanks for the photos of your recent get together. You obviously had a great time away. Great to see pics of some of the vans that I've heard about but not picked up on before, eg Hillmansafari's TD, not to mention the Schultz's outfit. You wouldn't think that their TD was heavy enough to need that kind of tow vehicle, but there you go. The usual caravanner's line is "it tows so well you hardly know it's there". No doubt that's absolutely true with the Blitz taking the lead. ;D ;D ;D From my point of view it was especially great to see the pics of the Dosses' Don. What a great effort you guys have made! It's hard to believe that it's the same van. Love the internal colour scheme. Fantastic job. Another Don back from the wood heap! Don Ricardo

The photos of the DON are good but seeing it in person is fantastic. Admittedly I am predjudiced in that the tow car Humber is another Rootes Group vehicle but the weekend was an eye opener for me and some reminicing as to my early caravaning days in a bondy with an ice box. I am looking at ideas for the teardrop but the thought of a small bondy is in the mind as well. I have done the story for Leaded Magazine and will try and post it tomorrow night. If the Dosse's are interested I would be keen to push for the van to go on display at the next Caravan show in Brisbane and even Fugly as well. Rod G Hillman Hunter and the T/D
