Mildura was a clear winner in our Poll, so the booking for our next National Meeting has been made. Monday 10th May to Friday 14th May Venue is Apex Riverbeach Holiday Park Cureton Ave Mildura 3502 www.apexriverbeach.com.au/1875/Home/. Daryl the Manager is more than happy to set aside an area for us , hopefully we will avoid being spread around as unfortunately happened at Mt Gambier. I also mentioned that although our official gathering date is Monday to Friday I fully expect a number members to book either the W/E preceding or the W/E following ,not a problem for him. He will reserve an area large enough for approx 40 vans, if we get more he has plenty of room to expand, he also understands that exact numbers are not possible until much closer to the date. The Park is dog friendly, and a communal campfire is no problem. Daryl does not require deposits until October 2009, once again it will be up to the members to make their own booking, just mention Vintage Caravans.com. We will need to confirm the cost closer to the date, but Daryl is fairly sure that as it is off peak it will be $25.00 per site per night. Thats all for now, Kris.

;D ;D ;D ;D Thanks for the ground work Kris... I dunno whats doin in 2010 for me yet..... will hold off booking until next year sometime..... Hmmmmmmmm ..... .... methinks a " Meander down the Murray" from Saaaaaayyyyy ...... ::)Tocumwal on the friday before for a few days river hopping n stopping Euchuca, Swan Hill, Balrenald.....before the Nats might be in order here We would still rock into Mildura by Monday or Tuesday??? OOoohhh shut up Reddo Ok.. Thanks again Kris..... Sounds like we have the support of the existing manager... hope he is / she /they are runningthe show when we get there... These park managers have the habit of doing the flit on us and leaving the park to a casual manager that knows nothing about us when we arrive Reddo

Hi Reddo,
I like your idea of a 'Meander down the Murray'. Maybe the Meander could start at Corowa where there's an amazing collection of veteran, vintage and classic cars (and a few trucks) stored in a huge shed and open to the public for a gold coin donation. It's well worth a visit. Then go on to the Chrysties' museum at Tocumwal. By 2010 the caravan section of the museum should be completed. (That's a serious suggestion about starting at Corowa.)
Those that want to could then knock up a couple of pontoons for their vans and sail down to Mildura on the river. (That's not a serious suggestion. ;D ;D ;D)

Kris, Thanks for sorting all of that out for everybody, including dog owners...that's very important for some people. The "Meander along the Murry to Mildura" meanwhile sounds good too... so get the thread going 'arold, not much time left . Cobber.

This sounds like the ideal time and place to get all our South Aussie Vintage Vanners to meander UP the Murray to meet with you Easterners. pymbie is on the right track about water in the river. We might just be the first to tow our vans up the Murry riverbed! In the neantime pymbie come and see/ join us at the caravan and camping show in Feb. PM me if your interested.

I am definately think about making the trek from Brisbane with the Munro. The Humber Sceptre wagon should be finished later this year so it would be a nice package to bring down. Any other Queenslanders making the trip ? Rod G.

Yewbewty... Mildura sounds great. Can someone (Reddo?) please post a link to the meander thread (from eastcoast)....once it is established? Don't want to hijack it anymore on here. No idea what I will be towing or towing with (at this stage I would say HZ and Ambassador...but who knows)....but I will not miss that. I have booked for Mon 10th to Sat 15th.....at this stage may extend the stay....hopefully. Cheers, Gristy

Hi Gristy and Jennison.
It was just one of my half baked thoughts again. Sorry for getting your hopes up. I wont be going to Mildura next year.... so i wont be organising a meander. There is bound to be someone keen enough top set it up... and i am sure it would be an enjoyable trip. The Murray might be in a bit of a mess at the moment but the towns would definitely benifit from a bit of tourism. Plenty of history along its banks even though there isnt much water in its bed.

Thanks for the reminder neighbour I booked in from the 10th until the 15th because I hope to travel with the "Meander down the Murray" Geoff and Jude are organising. The lady I spoke to at the Apex caravan Park said there are only seven sites booked at this time.On the "Meander down the Murrayā€¯ thread (you can find it here) I think there are only a couple booked to do that so far. I've got a bit of a question, at risk of sounding like a dumb kid As this is my last year at school, I really don't know what next year will bring for me so, when is the latest that I can book? ??Cheers, yellowuki ;D

G'day Yellowuki,
Don't worry about booking a site yet.... I think they have about 40 sites put aside for us and, as I mentioned above, there are only 7 sites booked as of today.
If you like you could book now and cancel later if it turns out you can't go.
Cobber.

I've got another annoying question There are a few blokes who are in the Latrobe Valley 48 to 84 Holden club who have old vans that match their 60's cars. Technically the vans are "classic" because they are 70's but most are painted and fitted out to a 60's theme to match the cars. Anyhow, a couple have asked me about the VV nationals next year and i've said I'll get back to them Anybody have any thoughts as to whether I should encourage or discourage them Cheers, yellowuki

;D Sounds like a real hoot, If my van and the Centura are ready by then , ::)Fingers crossed we'd love to attend BUT I have already got 4 weeks holidays in 2 week blocks booked for next year with car club runs. Will have to see how things pan out work wise. ;D :)I have just decided to cancel a trip to Chrysler's on the Murray next year for my Car club ( too many other trips for the club in 2010 ) so I am now free to make the Nationals, hoping to have the van ready by then and the tow car. Will book next week on my monthly work trip to Mildura. Do we have any idea of how many are going?
