Hi Daggsey,
I certainly didn't intend to offend anyone with a light hearted comment about a person. So I've deleted my references to the gentleman. Its so hard to comment on anything these days without upsetting someone unintentionly.
Maybe nobody should comment on anything at all.

Hi JBJ, I wasn't having a dig at you......cartoonists do it every day and that is what most politicians can expect to have happen to them...it goes with the territory. I believe that that was all that Will and others (myself included) were doing........no different to a cartoon that you read in newspapers every day. I can assure you that I wasn't offended by your comments and most reasonable people would see it that way . My comment was simply that once you start having a dig at the "voter" and not the "votee", you are treading on dangerous grounds. I have copped a fair bit of flack over the years because of my public stance for a particular party that was in government and I am still proud to say publicly that I am a member of that party and anyone who takes offense at that can go suck eggs............that doesn't mean to say that I am right and anyone who voted any different to me is wrong or more or less intelligent than me.........that is democracy and that is what is so fantastic about this great country of ours. And funnily enough, that leads me back to this thread..........the freedom to be able travel around OZ........there's lots of countries on this planet that you couldn't do what we are doing Daggsey

Greetings Daggsey and All Out of respect for others to have differing opinions I've modified the post ...... haven't changed my opinion Just accept others have feeling worth being aware of. Thanks and I apologize to those offended by my slant on politics, politicians and those that vote accordingly There isn't a man on the face of the earth that does't stumble at some time...... And perhaps treads on a few toes Atog Political correctness and social etiquette what are they???

Oiy Daggsey type... Sorry ta see ya leavin the 'unter valley. WARNING:Tamworth and the new England District is bushranger territory. Keep your bag of gold stashed well away on the stage coach. Get your sidekick Maryloucarrots to ride shotgun up on the stage with the browning under and over shotgun . Be aware of the infamous bushranger..."Thunderbolt rumour has it that he is still alive.. . .....he will be 163 next week. Doesnt move quite as quickly as he use to but still presents a threat to travellers.. He has been known to "hold up" traffic ....... as he crosses the road with his walking frame from the Guyra RSL at closing time ;D Other tourist tips.. Good beer at Bendemeer pub., Good beer at the pubs in Tenterfield Good beer at Guyra Armidale is worth spending a few days in and around.... it also has good beer. Lotsa old farms, cars and vans between Tamworth and the Canetoad proof fence that is the NSW /QLD border.... when ya get to the border "Wallangara".... there is a great little pub just off the main drag over the railway line on the right......they serve good beer too . Tell em Reddo sent ya and they will make you pay my $659.95 bar bill from my last visit. Before ya leave that side of the tracks take a picture of the old railway station and platform there next to the pub.... a grand old lady like the station at ... Young .. I say the only party to vote for is......The Christmas party ;D Politics.. Religion.. Fuel prices... .... I have found a cheap endless supply of gas. .. ..... I just have to find some way of bottlin' it before it gets out of my trouser legs haul on you lucky buggers Reddo...

Hi Clyde, Thanks for the reminder . My first job after leaving school in 1971 was in a bank and my first posting was to Walcha. I remember that it was quicker to walk to work than trying to get the ice of my windscreen and that was in JANUARY!! ;D ;D ;D Daggsey

Well folks, time for an update with photos. The story so far........ Left Taree and headed backwards to Raymond Terrace, across to East Maitland, up the New England Highway to Murrurundi. Stayed 4 days there with some friends of mine, waiting for the rain to clear.......had this awsome water crossing over the Pages River (who says you need 4WD ;D ;D) spotted this classic sign (do they still make Ipana??) and another classic in an old garage....... this Franklin in a back street.......not sure of age, hubcaps might give it a clue (HR, HD)........... On to Tamworth......... thought we better look for some real tourist attractions, just to keep Mark T happy ;D..........does the Big Guitar qualify ;D ;D ;D..... How's this for reality touring....a real country & western singer in Tamworth (well, he was from Victoria, stopping in the caravan park and wanted an audience to practice on, so the camp kitchen was as good as any spot (would you really get an opera at the Opera House?? ;D ;D........actually, I suppose you could call him a country & southern singer ;D ;D ;D ;D........ actually, he was very good.....and achieving his dream of singing to an audience in Tamworth....can't get better than that Had a slight mishap with a tree after taking van out for it's electric brakes adjustment.....it wasn't my fault (it never is )......the tree was not native and planted in the wrong spot Tamworth Railway Station........ and this beauty, which leaves the Opera House for dead.......this picture theatre would have to be classic 30' or 40's ;D ;D ;D...... another classic vehicle, this one in Tamworth...... Decided to avoid the cold of Armidale and Glen Innes, so headed north west through Manilla........the Big Fish has got to be an icon doesn't it Mark up there with the Dog on the Tucker box??? You would have to think seriously about supporting someone who puts their name to this sort of advertising , especially as he and his mates make their income singing about Aussie heritage......... (hey Mark, tell him to sue me...they're my comments, not yours ;D) A visit to Split Rock Dam on way to Barraba shows the extent of the drought, despite the recent rain.......... this is the boat ramp to nowhere......... Today's cultural visit......the Roxy Theatre in Bingara......... And so the journey continues......currently in Warialda and deciding which way to go...... Daggsey

Hi Daggsey & Carrots.
I think the same entertainer was the guy at Tweed Heads we were parked next to over Wintersun weekend. He was very good, in fact a lot better than he thought he was. Came from Warnambool way. We spent Sunday evening listening to him, with Mr & mrs Sugarshack for company.
It would be nice to be as talented as him.
Love your commentary & pix. Your seeing a lot of the good parts of NSW that I havent visited for a while. I guess its nearly time to go west again away from the coast.

Hi Jailbar,
Unfortunately I didn't get this chap's name, however his wife is the lady with the white top in the group photo if you recognise her. They were travelling with other friends from Victoria, but I didn't get to find out from which town.

Hi Daggsey,
Another set of great photos and great places. I guess you guys are enjoying reviewing your trip by putting together your visual trip diary, but I can't tell you how much I am enjoying the trip as well looking over your shoulder. Some of the places you've been to I've never heard of, but each has their own charm.
Thanks for letting us travel with you!

To the effacy pilot ;D, Why is it that your photographer has too do so much walking?I thought you'd made her walk across that creek crossing to get the photer, then I looked further down and saw the swing bridge ;D Great pics Daggsey & Carrots, you really know how to find the best places in your travels. Say, whilst your saving me petrol money, would you mind slipping down to the bottle-o for me, it's very hard to enjoy your holiday when I am out of grog ;D....... Looking forward to the next installment! Cheers, Gristy PS the Viscount in the park, I think may be a Murrumba Star from the shape and the chassis number.

Hi, Daggsy & Carrots. Passed you on your way from Inglewood to Millmerran, Q. on Saturday morning. Put enquiry on FE/FC Forum and was referred to here. Good to read about your travels. We are caravanners, (but not vintage caravanners), but FE owners. There are a few FE/FC owners around Toowoomba. Have stayed at Bridgetown C/Pk in 04. Nice town. Trust all goes well with your on your trip. Call me if I can help you with anything if you are still in Toowoomba area. Mike ..(Sheriff on FE/VC forum)..0409340986.

Hi Mike (guest) Obviously you will only read this if you come back on this forum ;D. We are in Dalby now, but did spot a red and white FE in Toowoomba on Sunday morning....the guy gave us a wave, but he did not stop. Probably slack of me, but I haven't put anything on the FE/FC website for some time.....I seem to get myself into trouble enough on this site ;D ;D. Could I suggest that you get rid of whatever caravan you've got, chase up a pre-1970 van and join us for some real fun ;D ;D ;D Daggsey

Daggsy, have had the odd look on evilbay at the old vans as they come up. Have also browsed this site a few times, so the seed has been sown. I suppose you have a red/blue/black motor in LM to handle your van. We did the block in 03/04 for 10 months, had the time of our lives. Saw new places, met new friends. Envious of you, will have to go again one day. Just might take the plunge in our FE "Edna" though grey powered, with a lightweight vintage van. Sounds appealing. Safe travels and enjoy. Cheers, Mike.

Hi daggsey & carrots,
It must be a blast, going back to your childhood memories.
What do you remember most, the towns, or the girlfriends???
I travel thru the Moss Vale/ Bowral area where I grew up occasionly on my trips south, & the best memories seem to be of the girls. Maybe I'm just getting old & reminiscing.
But its a great thing to be able to go back to where you grew up, especially when you live a long way from it.
Keep the pix coming. like everyone else, Boots & I love your postings
