HI All.
Would there be enough room for one more couple for tomorrow night?... We'll pay! :-) Our weekend has freed up enough that we can attend if we are allowed. Who do I have to pay for catering etc, and who to contact for the van site?
Regards Mark & Glenda King Woody

Hi all, Yes in fact I did leave my camera at home. : But don't worry I know lots of photos were taken by other people. I notice Bob & Jacqui have already posted some photos but i'm sure more will be forthcoming once everyone gets home. (Some members left late this afternoon and others are staying another night at Canungra). The weather was lovely (hot days and cool nights). It was a great roll up. I didn't get a chance to count the number of vans, but we must have been close to the 40 mark. If someone knows the exact number, please post it. Banno & Bob (from Bob&Jacqui) have kindly volunteered to take on the task of organising next years Canungra event. Thanks guys, I'm sure you will make a great team and do a fantastic job Luv Di

Wow !!!!!!! So many vans, so little time. This was our first outing in Jellybean and we were very happy with the way she towed and was comfortable to sleep in. (also getting dressed standing up was a bonus compared to the teardrop). The fancy dress night was hilarious and the meal was great. We headed home with a convoy of five vans . It looked cool following them through the countryside. Thanks to everyone for another excellent weekend. John and Dianne

Hi All
Glenda and I would just like to thank everyone who was involved in the Canungra weekend. We were blown away by the freindship offered by so many who attended. Being "newbies" we were worried about the ettiquet involved in a weekend away with the VV'ers, but after seeing Banno cooking pancakes for all on Sunday morning in his underpants and three cornered pirate hat convinced us that there is no ettiquet, or good taste! ;-) involved in attending these events. Absolutely fabulous! An amazing turnout of incredible vans and characters. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of it all. I hope Glenda's dancing didn't offend anyone - (the doctor says it really isn't a drinking problem... until she runs out!)
We can't wait for the next gathering!
Our thanks. Mark & Glenda (and King Woody)

Hi All,
The pix are great, & save me posting a lot I took that are similar. I still have a few good ones to post, & will do that soon.
Purpose of this post is to let everyone know that our long run of honesty at our events has ended. Up till now, I havent heard of anything being STOLEN on any of our runs. But early Saturday night, during our party/feed, some lowlife stole the Air Stapler that Trevor ( our Santa) had won at the give away table, from outside of his caravan, where it was left after he changed into his Santa suit, & went back to the party. It was in plain view, sure, but well lit up under his annex canopy on a table with several other things. We all leave things about, and often for a while. Nothing gets lifted normally.
So if anyone happens on a black plastic box containing a yellow Air Stapler gun & bits, It probably belongs to Trevor.
Pretty low act stealing from Santa I reckon.
If anyone knows anything, please contact me.
Other than that, it was a great weekend, & thats 4 times we've had Christmas at Canungra.
JBJ

Thanks to the organizers for putting on a great weekend at Canungra. As newbies we had a wonderful time in 'our little ray of Sunshine' caravan. This was our first time camping with the forum members and we hope to get to a few more campouts in the coming months. Jim and Tricia.

Hi Cruisindoug, Thanks for the great photos. You obviously all had a really good time at Canungra, and the pics allow those of us that weren't there to soak up the atmosphere. I'm particularly interested in this pic - is this Samson's Windcutter by Castle? I think I can see '...utter' written on the back of the van above the windows. If so, I think the photo has helped me to make a useful connection. The van appears to be the same design/shape as some older vans which carried the Hawthorn brand name. They look not dissimilar to Rowvans, like Neilncheryl's (which was also at Canungra I see), but in fact have a number of differences and were built by somebody other than Rowvan. If you look at Reply #19 here, I've compared the two. Samson's van has aluminium framed windows which would mean that it is later than the Hawthorns with wooden framed windows. In any case, if the link I've made is correct, the Hawthorns and the Castle Windcutters were built by the same crowd. The frustrating thing is that we don't know who built them for Hawthorn or Castle, except that it appears to be a South Australian design/builder. Oh well, maybe by making this link we're one step closer in working out where they came from... Sorry for interrupting your thread with my musings, but I will be interested if any of you who were at Canungra can tell me anything else about the van which might help identify the maker. How much fun was that? Dad got to chill, Maddy and Eue got to swim and have a great time with all the other kids, and Mum got to dance and dance and dance. (Yes don't get out much anymore, had to make the most of it) We had a wonderful time once again. I don't think l have ever been apart of a group that laugh so much, you could hear people giggling throughout the park all weekend. Love that. Cathie and Di once again thank you for the work you put in. Also to our Santa, l really do believe what goes around comes around, and by gosh when that person uses that l wouldn't want to be in his/her shoes. Got to check out some more vans Always a highlight.: Little Ray of Sunshine- Just delightful, loved it. DeeJay- Good on you both, what a fabulous van. Jellybean- It's way too small to be away from it's mum. So sweet guys (get it?), the outside is magic can't wait to see it finished.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas all.
Cheers Des Kel Maddy Eue and Missy Bell

Thanks for confirming that Jondi55.
It was the hatch that is hinged at the back that made me take a second look. I hadn't seen a pic of a Windcutter of that era with the hatch open before. Most - or at least very many - hatches are hinged at the front, including the Rowvan. So that made me start comparing other features of the van with the Hawthorns.

Hi all, for those at Canungra that were after the recipe for the 'Nuts and Bolts' (or just bolts) here it is
Mix together 1/2 cup warmed oil, 1 dsp Mustard, 1 tsp Curry Powder, 1 pkt Onion Soup, 1/2 pkt Cream of Chicken Soup, 1 500 g pkt Salted Peanuts (optional), 1 300 g pkt Nutrigrain.
Stores for days in an airtight container. Enjoy.
