Hi All,
Time to start organising this great event again. I'm pretty sure this is our 3rd one, but my memories get a bit blurred with all the events we have up here.
The weekend has previously been the weekend after the Yamba Rod Run , which is a great weekend based around the Blue Dolphin Caravan Park at Yamba. Last year a family in a 37 Chev & vintage van from Melbourne continued from Yamba to Canungra, & had a ball.
So Yambas on around the weekend of 13-14 November, so that makes Canungra the 20-21 weekend.
Dosse & I just discussed this, so when I've posted this thread he will put in a booking for the showground site & big shed for the Friday, Sat, & Sun nights.
I bumped into the guys that had the driving simulators there last year recently, & they felt they could quite possibly be there again. We'll have to take that as it happens, but it was a blast for the big & little kids.
Lets get it organised, & maybe some of you Southerners can program it in as a great weekend to attend, & maybe some can combine Yamba & Canungra into a good fortnight or so away.
Power & good amenities are available, with the best covered area & kitchen you will ever find. Theres a great swimming hole in the creek, & its hard to fault the whole caravan area

the 26th and 27th november would suit us better as the weekend of the 20th and 21st is the queensland hot show and we will be flat out like a lizard drinking, and will need weekend to recover.

Hi Santa,
Understand your point. Lets see if the general consensus is a week earlier or a week later?? .Lets leave the discussion open, & take a consensus date for a month. Then it can be defined, to allow people to program in their holiday. So put up your prefered date please to allow us to decide. Dont worry me much, as I go to Yamba, & I'm not really into the Hot Rod Show.I prefer reality to show cars. I'm surprised the Hot Rod Show is allowed so close to long established Yamba??
So would all interested attendees please nominate the weekend they would prefer for Canungra. We'll do a tally in 4 weeks & democratically pick the weekend with the most votes, other than the Yamba weekend .

We can go any of the dates as there's plenty of time to plan for this one. One consideration re dates is the heat. Last year when the group went, it was very hot at that time. We went to Canungra with our family at end of easter school holidays & it was more pleasant weather, cooler at night & great for sitting around the camp fire. So we'd prefer the week before Yamba if possible. No worries about dates tho...if it's hot we'll park the van under the unpowered trees, like we did last time. Nice & cool! Cathie & Rob

Forgot to say that last year we were lucky to have rain the week or so before we got there. this meant we were allowed to have fires, as there had been fire bans before the rain...just a thought... Cathie & Rob

G'day All. Thanks Dennis for starting the thread......Well Canungra number 3....Looks like NSW has Coledale and QLD has Canungra. Back by popular demand is Ilse's free give-away...so if you can contribute to this it will be appreciated. The weekend of the 20th and 21st would be our preference :)but we will let it ride and make a decision soon. I have been talking with Pete and Trish ( now residing in WA ) and they will be at Canungra as well .......Please feel free to add your name to the list and any thoughts you may have on any aspect of this week-end. Regards dosse.

Any time in November for me. Just bought an aircon for the Munro so the heat won't worry my four legged companion so much this time. Rollydog

Hi Dennis, Thanks for starting the thread. I am already supposed to be going away on 20th til 26th November. Hence my preference would be for Canungra to be held the week before Yamba. In fact any other weekend in November but the weekend of the 20th and 21st. As per Smiles comment - it was very very hot last year and perhaps an earlier date may help in that regard. So glad to hear that Pete and Trish will be over in this part of the world. Not sure if they are here for the whole month or not? But as they are such a large part of the Canungra weekend it would be a shame if we hold the event on a date when they aren't here. So whatever I will go with the flow. If I need to cancel my Island Holiday, so be it. Di

Hi to all Canungrans, Thanks for getting this one going again Dennis and count the Austin 1800 and the Hunter Minor in for any weekend in November. Any weekend will miss my birthday but I can live without your cards and huggs from the girls there. Talking of the Austin, its a bit like the Gulf of Mexico oil rig disaster this week as all the oil fell out and a large slick is developing over the pristine garage floor as I write this! better get a boom retainer out to contain it. Should have it fixed by November though!!?? Paul & Yoko

Gday everyone,
The weekend before Yamba is the Bright rod run, and I'm planning on going down to that and then race back up for Yamba. So my preferance is the week end of the 20 th otherwise I'm a no show. Good on ya Dennis for setting the wheels in motion.
