G'day Vintage vanners, My computer died on the 22nd June and I've just got it back last night so.... this may sound like really short notice. Due to circumstances to do with two very.....very old friends of the family.. (read dogs).... one of whom needs pretty much constant attention at this stage of her life we can't make it to Katoomba this time around. Hope you all have a great time..... ride down the scenic railway and go for a walk along the board walk, they've made some great improvements there in recent years........ wish we were there Cobber.

Hiya Cobber
I have had a few pm's re family issues etc. What we all need to remember is ... Family comes first ( and that includes pets). No one should EVER feel guilty about having to cancel out on a weekend with the vans......
They are what they are.... Social events... there is no binding contracts and we can choose to drop in or out at our own discretion.
Hope all goes well with the hounds.... Look after them mate. and.... I will catch ya on the wallaby somewhere in the future.
Reddo

Hi Cobber & Yvonne, So sorry to hear you can't make Katoomba ( personally I am wondering why we are going - I hate the cold ), but I am sure it will all be good fun as usual. Maybe we should have an award as to who looks the most like the Michelan Man with all the extra clothes . Look after the hounds, pets are very special & we will have to catch up soon Jude & Geoff

Reddo Jude and Geoff, Thanks for being gentle with me Reddo..... I rang Ken at the caravan park and let him know. Jude....... I could lend you a couple of pet dogs if you like No actually I can't do that, old Sandy is blind deaf and wobbly on her legs.... she can find her way around here at home OK without bumping into things... but anywhere else she's lost, so you'll just have to go and endure the nice crisp air and fellowship of other vintage 'vanners.... have a good time, see you soon. Cobber.

I would have been there today except i took the FB panelvan for a blatt with Rosie on behind it up the Mountain to the local lookout ... just to test the radiator out... Got to the top and i had J-Rods Latte' or is that Capaccino ...coming out of the radiator cap. So burnt the midnight oil last night... fitted a HR radiator and cut out the support panel either side . Took it for a run back up the mountain... temps where better but still not happy. Came home and pulled the radiator out. Got it pressure tested and flushed this morning.... all good as new. New thrermostat, New fan belt , new 7lb cap.... and a belly full of green drink. Just got back from the"test track" Old Frank B. Holden never got over 180 deg. . I am outta here by around 7.30 /8.00am tomorrow, Catch who is left at Katoomba around 11.00 / 12.00. I'm staying sunday night too. I wanna ride on the Zig Zag railway ... and i wont feel like driving home on sunday arvo. So..... an extra night in the Igloo at Katoomba and head home after the morning Sydney rush on Monday. I am sitting here typing listening to the news... Cold snap arriving tomorrow... snow on the high peaks....... .. Ummm i think that includes Katoomba.... Idiots.... complete and utter idiots......... You've all gone mad !!! It has been freezing here the last few days and absolutely blowing a gail! Hope you all bring plenty of warm clothing and something to tether your vans to the campsite hahaha My Volksy has been off the road for a couple of months as it needs an engine rebuild so have'nt been able to do much vintage motoring or vanning lately... (It's killing me) I will try and get along for a visit during the weekend. Hope you all have a great time. Cheers Greg

hi all
just got back from katoomba after an absolutely brrrrrrrrrrrrrilliant weekend away.
unfortunately it didn't snow for us this christmas, but on friday there was snow about 30km away at lithgow.
better luck next year.
it was good to see the the locals, bert, julie, rob and the kids when they dropped in saturday afternoon.
maybe next year they'll leave their nice, warm, snug houses and freeze with us in their vintage vans.
saturday night cliff and ingrid put on a full blown christmas dinner, with bob bons, candles, turkey, baked vegies, pudding, the lot.
gotta feel sorry for cliff though.
after all his hard work, while he was out going about little boys business, santa arrived and put on what everybody thought was the best vintage van entertainment any of us has ever seen.
we'll let some of the others show you photos of what santa does during his "off season", but suffice it to say at this point that he really works his arse off getting ready for the regular christmas season in december.
you'll have to wait to see the photos to believe what we're saying.
thanks reddo for organising the weekend. pretty sure next year will be bigger and better.
will post some photos soon.

Just arrived home in Canberra from Katoomba via Oberon, nice drive and I noticed a few free camping spot along the way that call for a revisit sometime. Katoomba, what can I say..................blew a gale, freezing cold, woke up both mornings feeling a bit offcolour, great scenery, Santa needs some new trousers and has a problem with flatulance, someone stole my Turkey as I took a new bottle and came back with 1/4 left. Apart from that a great time, when are we going again??
Thanks Reddo

OK! So to relieve the tension that has been created regarding Santa being overworked and wearing out his apparel......here are some photos of him. Geoff is posting his Christmas wishlist to Santa...I think! Look at the expression on Jude's face, and Ingrid.......sorta says it all.

Just checking as I go, here are some more. Maurie and Kate enjoying some of the music and dancing. Even though JBJ wasn't there, he was 'still' there with us in 'spirit'! Geoff was real keen to sample the famous/infamous Jailbar Juice. This is probably the last remaining specimen of the famous JBJ.....and they loved every drop of it!!!! We had a great weekend with great company, and really couldn't complain about the cold.....probably because my mouth was frozen solid.... ;D ;D ;D Thanks for organising this Reddo, and to everyone else who made it such a good weekend.
