Hi Maurie... We appreciate the enthusiasm you have about a night out on the town up in Katoomba and seeing everyone have a great time. And I know it is hard to get people to commit to doing something that is weeks away. Maybe you will get a few starters on the day. I know that will mean shopping around to get a leg in the door at a Hotel, restaurant or cafe' .. but dont give up on the idea. Best you can do at the moment is ring around and at least book you and the missus in for an enjoyable night out. Reddo

Hi Maurie. The original idea was for us to get together over the Xmas in July period and "do it tough" in the cold. An opportunity to catch up with other run starved NSW vintage vanners. Probably my fault for giving it a misleading title I raised the idea about heading out for a meal somewhere in reply#17. I included prices and links to the variuos options. All appear way over priced .. but i did mention that the prices included accomodation.... which we dont need. A bit of chit chat about it on replys #18 .. and #19..... Then all went quiet until Lithgowdave came on and mentioned he would chase prices ( reply #24 .... 14 feb 2009)........... .. Havent heard from him again.. He did say he has trouble with internet access so he may still come up with a venue for those that want to go out. Even if he has managed to get prices for a group of those wishing to go out , i they / he / we will have left our run to late to book in . I plan on knocking up a heap of vegies and steak in a slow cooker / crock pot as a belly warmer on saturday night. Would have done it on an open fire with cast iron camp oven... but we arent allowed to have an open fire.. so electricity is sooooo cheap... its free. Not too sure what the others will be up to but as i said way back . I am happy to knock the top off a bottle of good scotch , rum or port and rug up down in the camp kitchen under the 100lb LPG flame throwers for a natter . Meanwhile ... temps are on the way down.. They are predicting snow in Orange, Blayney, Lithgow and Bathurst tonight....... We have around 4 weeks to go.......should be able to crack the magic "Sub Zero" and set a new benchmark first in vintage Caravanning Lunacy....... "First group to get snowed under at a gathering" Reddont forget the woolies

Hi Jeff Dont burden yourself with the heater. Val ( Caretaker) has offered us 2 of them for down in the games room / camp kitchen . She said that they had a family function down in the building a while back and the heaters worked fine. I was thinking of bring a few tarps or brattice to put up around the open area out the front to help block off the night breezes. No matter what.. we will manage OK.. Improvision is all part of camping and caravanning. No 5 stars here... except maybe the southern cross ;D Reddo

I am very disappointed to tell you guys that due to circumstances beyond my control, the wife & I have to pull out of this tour.
We have had to cut back on our first run in Twiggy and cannot make it to Katoomba that weekend.
I hope this hasn't caused any inconvienence.
Reddo have one for Twiggy, she was close to getting there. ;D ;D ;D

Greetings fellow masicists... ;D Calling Mr FJ55 ... attention... attention Maurie... Are you aware that next weekend ( Sunday 5th) is your clubs swap meet at Fairfield??? Have ya decided that the boys can manage without your expert organising and socialising skills Hope you are still in the Katoomba Bikky tin and heading up into the fog and mist with the rest of us. We have had 2 or 3 drop out so far but i reckon we are still good for around 15 sites. For those that are coming .. just a reminder to pack a tarp of some sort .. Hasn't gotta be a biggin.. but the more we have the better we can rug up the camp kitchen and shield ourselves form the snow and reindeer poo.... Now that i am a man of leisure i am considering meandering down on Thursday and "Nitwitting " with anyone else from the 4umm that wants to subject themselves to an extra night of sublime stupidity and sub zero temps.... Who else is up for sharing a few spirits on Thursday night... and remember... if anybody asks..... "We are not a club, we are a bunch of fruitcakes mascarading as christmas puddings" Reddoff the rudenose rant-deer ;D

At Katoomba, we will have a visit from Kylie Dapiran from Caravan & Motorhome.......with her photographer in tow. If you would like to, bring props for your van and don't forget your 'lippie' ;D ;D. They will probably be there more likely on Saturday.

Hi fellow reindeers Judy and I will be testing out the aerodynamic properties of the teardrop with a high speed run up the Hume with a expected Friday 9pm arrival time. I have heard that Mythbusters are working on the theory that if you go fast enough then the shape of a teardrop acts like a aeroplane wing and provides lift off and a saving on fuel economy. The critical speed is still a mystery. Ken

Hi Bindilou.. "and we arent kitted out for a night in the elements yet... but give us time. " I shall award you an "apprentice Woose award" That is one of the flimsiest excuses i have heard so far... . Get yourself down to St Vinnies and buy a heapa blankets and army coats for the kids. Being one of the closest to Katoomba you guys have absolutely NO EXCUSE. 2 more reasons.... Rosie and the Splinter Hilton have been asking where thier sister Matilda is .... and they have been getting all excited about having a family reunion up there with her. Second... we now have a few spare sites so plenty of room..... THERE IS NO EXCUSE....... However ... if ya cant make it... we will be there by around lunch time friday and all arvo... Saturday i would imagine we will all be out and about the town doing the touristy bit. Look for the old cars parked up the main drag or at one of the local touristy sites... pubs.... .....Would probably catch us before 8.30am or after 3.00pm back at camp for happy hour(s). I am hoping ta get over to Clarendon on sunday morning and get a seat on the choo choo and a ride on the zig zag railway for the day. Reddo

Boy am i glad Reddo that i waited for you to put your foot in it before i replied!! ;D I see you are now looking at calling it off! Who's the "woose"! 1 of 2 things i say.. Either you cant handle the cold, or you are going to miss my company so much that you have decided to come and help show my better half’s sister around Sydney with us! May i also take this opportunity to point out that given your geographical location, i would say that it is you that likes to avoid cool weather as opposed to a fine southerner such as myself! Well, good thing you are still messing around with that old timber stuff that aluminum gracefully succeeded.. I guess no skin off your nose if you need some additional firewood. Just patch up the missing bark when you get back home to your north bound dwelling! Really spewing i wont be there.. Looking forward to Coledale. Signing out - Tea sipping, Late' opposing, cold weather dodging J-Rod!
