Hi Di, Apologies for the super slow reply, i've been in the land of the rising sun of all places! Where i actually saw an Airstream selling take away food in down town Harajuku ;D Would you believe we were about to miss the last train, and didnt have time to divert and cross the road to get a pic, fuji film of course! Anywho, im planning on dropping in and visiting some dealers at Wollongong & Albion Park that day so i can duck off at the time i should be heading home, but point the car the other way to Berry/L!! So i should be there late afternoon. Looking forward to it, the Van has been sitting in the shed since last June . Cheers, J-Rod

"the Van has been sitting in the shed since last June . Cheers, J-Rod " Now that IS Slack. Hi jg66rob and Lynmel. If you havent already done so could you please email Beryl Miller from the caravanning Rally committee and let her know that you are coming to the caravan Rally with the vintage van group. She will need to have a fair idea on numbers so she can cater for us at the BBQ and also allocate a bit of space for all of us at the showground. Beryls email address is back amongst the earlier posts here somewhere. Look forward to catching you there Reddo

Ha, i have a loooooooong time to get my motivation up ;D ;D I'll be the one heading down the highway with a trail of dust blowing off the van and getting set to spend the weekend with a bunch of old farts almost as old as their vans, and not chasing girls By the way Reddo, i still have trouble purchasing grog without an ID, so if you wouldn't mind.......!

I was thinking if Berry is our next meeting together and since we are there, in many ways, as one of the "tourist Attractions" for the modern Vannies as they have their getogether/convention" that we could bring along any spare calenders we might be holding(mine is still untouched) and perhaps raffle them to raise a bit of $$$$ for the fire victims. I am sure there will be some sort of bucket going around and if we are going to have some interested passers by, even if 1st,2nd 3rd ........prize is One 2009 VVcalender each prize, they would'nt give a you know what! We could probably raise a sizeable pot to put in, with all the enthusiastic Vanning types that will be there if we Ned Kelly them for a NON compulsary raffle ticket/entrylookaround fee !?....... jennison

for your info (if you haven't got an email yet).
got this email from beryl miller re: the berry event.
"Hi Folk, I knew something had to go wrong eventually, and it has. The company we were to get the portable showers from has emailed to say they are so sorry but the showers have all been sent to Victoria for the Bushfire victims, and will not be back in time for the State Rally. We received the same story from other companies when we rang. One company could supply some very primitive showers and by the photos sent we have made a decision not to use them. We are asking everyone coming to the State Rally who does not have a shower on board if you could bring your portable showers and shower tents. There are showers at the Showground for those that have neither, and we are trying to get permission to use the showers at the swimming pool behind the Showground. I know all you happy campers will not mind this small inconvenience when you know that the poor bush fire victims are able to have a nice hot shower. Many thanks for your understanding. Our Club members are getting very excited and can't wait to welcome you all. I will email this out to all contacts I have but would you mind passing this message onto others attending the Rally. Cheers Beryl Miller"

Looks like i have Thursday arvo off as i have accrued about 4 hours flexi time ( aaaaahhh the lurks of local government jobs).. Was sorta considering using the head start on the Berry weekend and heading down to Coledale Thursday night , then rocking on down the coast on friday morning Dont ya just love it when a plan comes together . I might be AWAL from all the Berry festivities on Saturday morning....Gotta sneek over to Canberra for a look at possible new towcar sale Geeeez .. Yo Geoff and Jude.. will be great to catch up with you guys again ..missed you at Motorfest. Re: arrival info...Great minds think alike.. I sent Beryl an email after i posted that earlier message.. Here is her reply..Just a repeat of what G&J posted. "Hi Glenn, Come to the Alexandria St entrance and someone will be there to welcome you and direct you to your site. We are here at the showground now as vans have been arriving since Sunday. Looking forward to seeing you. Cheers Beryl" And .. YES.... Jam and scones would be nice sometime during the mayhem that is bound to happen on Saturday morning. Will exchange two Jam scones for a hot shower somewhere on Friday and Saturday night..... Might buy some Bowlers creams at an opp shop so i can get a leg in the door of the showers at the local Bowlo club.... Cooooooooooool ;D Plan B is pay $2 entry at the local pool....and do 10 laps in thier showers. Just had a look on travelmate... Canberra is still around 3 1/2hrs from Berry . Too far for a short jaunt over and back from Berry .so i will rely on an honest appraisal and photos of the towcar before considering purchase of same. Catch yas there Friday AM sometime. The list is as follows.... Homemade1954 Reddo Geoff & Jude Trodler X 2 Chippydave Jennison Spyder Malcolm Alan & Jenny Jrod jg66rob lynmel Kazandadam 14 vans Reddo

Reddo,
If you read this turn left off the highway, just before you hit the main street you'll see a bowling club on your left, take the second left & you'll run into the showground. See ya Friday night.
Cheers Adam

Hi Guys,What a great weekend we all had at the NSW caravan rally were we where treated like royalty. We had all the jayco and modern van owners visiting our vans saying thats all you need in a van ,wow you have more cupboard space ,more wardrobe space ,lighter to tow and even heard the sayings from the 50s when sunliners were built that glass will never last but here it is 45 years later. Im so glad we are not a club as I witnessed all the regimented club proceedures that worked by the clock, breakfast lunch and tea .We were even told to wake up by a loudspeaker at 8am . Lucky I was not involved in any drunken loutish behaviour the night before and was already awake cooking breaky at that time the loudspeaker was on . Im awake so you all better get up was the call through the showground We were the only group that was not part of the flag raising ceremony ;D cool because we werent a club and had no flag to raise . They stood in the sun for 30 mins with one older gentlemen nearly going to sleep standing up waiting to raise the flag for his caravan club. With the quality of food I was cooking on my 1960s bbq under my 1960S annex I was told by one bloke I should have cooked and catered for the whole showground It was a great weekend and all the modern owners told us a story or two ,some just wouldnt go away others just could even fit through the door to get a look inside Cheers Dave ,slap me if I ever turn out like them

;D Yo. Had a great rumn down to Berry Friday. Caught Chippydave and his lady at Picton Rd and we hotfooted it down Mt ousley and on passed Kiama to Berry. reat weekend. As ChippyDave said... we where really looked after . and we thank the Host van club "ShoalHaven" for supplying ample amounts of snags, salads, pasta etc for us on Friday night. We made our camp kitchen in the "Poultry Pavillion. Its not as bad as it sounds . A brand new shed ( hold about a dozen cars. It was used once and has sat empty pretty much the rest of the time. Rained friday arvo.. stinkin hot/humid saturday and one was forced to retire to the annexe and induluge in a few beverages. It was the first van weekend i have been to where we have all been grouped toigether. Nearly every van park we stay at we end up with a few late model vcans sprinkled amongst us , but we had the lions share of the infield. Cost us $12.00 per night to the showground trust. Couldnt complain because we where only metres away from beaut hot showers and the toilets. The "Flag raising ceremony" was only equaled by the vintage vaneers "Stubby raising ceremony".. ya just had to be there to believe the pomp and paegentry. All up about 12 different van clubs from around NSW. The 2010 Rally will be at Ballina .. so i hope you sth east Qlders will accept the offer to attend if the Ballina club invite you guys??? Here is some happy snaps.. With all these great cars and vans.... Spyders sign on the back of his Sunliner sums it up nicely At the peak of "Happy 5 hours " yesdy arvo i noticed this fast approaching... Everyone scattered to close windows , hatches and tension down their annexes... It flogged down for about 10 minutes then cleared over. There was much discussion about going to the Bowlo for dinner but in the end we decided to head back to the chook shed for the evening peck... Chef Malcolm done a great job on the tongs and ..i have to thank Geoff Jennison for donating half oif his 5KG rump steak to me... made my 3 suasages look sad. After we had eaten cleaned up the shed and headed back to pick up on the happy hour we had started before the storm.. The showground floodlights came on and it gave the whole infeild an eerie glow... Here a few night shots.. Great times, great cars and vans, great mates.. and great memorys of a truely enjoyable weekend.. Thanks for the company guys... I Left Berry 9.30am home at 1.30 pm. Reddo

hi all
we left berry at about 12:30 and arrived home at about 4:30 after stopping near wollongong to change the left rear tyre on the victoria after it delaminated, causing some unwanted vibrations through the car - i guess the bad luck genie is still on our back (a little bit).
as dave and reddo have said, it was a good weekend and we were treated well and all the modern owners were impressed with our vintage van displays.
i don't suppose we should be too surprised about the organisation of all the caravan clubs, they are a large group and without good organisation, an event as large as this would have turned into chaos.
beryl made a point of introducing us and thanking us at the opening and closing ceremonies and our group will probably be invited to attend the next annual gathering at lennox head. (a great opportunity for the north coasters and se qld's).
it was good to put faces to some of the people we hadn't met yet and look forward to seeing yoall again.
