Gee Dirk, this has been a long slow recovery, I hope it heals completely with no after effects. I'd be a bit wary of investing in those "anti gravity pills" from reddotel international... sound a bit shonky (as you would expect ) coming with a free DIY plaster cast kit for when they don't work Cobber.

Bugger the Anti Gravity Pills! what I think I really need is anti getting older pills, got up this morning, fine, went to get my paper and a couple of things from the Supermarket (yes we have one of them here in the sticks ;D ) no problem, went to the tip, again all was fine, sat down to have breaky when I got home then couldn't walk, Bloody hip has gone on me now, even find it hard to get around even with my crutches, think I've started falling apart, now where did I leave that warranty form Derk.

Hi Derk,
I think it is just called getting older, & theres no answer to that. I've got 10 years on you, & I live on Panadol Osteo pills for hip & back pain. I know most of us suffer similarly. But with enough pills you can still manage to do what you want to (almost)
Maybe reddotell could invent anti falling apart pills???

Falling Apart Retardant Tablets.....or... FART if you wish, Nup we havent ventured into that realm as yet....although i am proficient at FART... especially noxiuos farting. However.... I can recommend something that seems to help me get up and moving of a morning. I take about 5 or 6 fish oil ( Krill if you like) tablets before i go to bed each night. tends to help with the aches and pains/ circulation in my legs /feet. Its natural. Grit your teeth and keep moving.. try ands stay active..dont let it wear ya down Cheers Reddo

G`day Humpy.Sorry to hear you`re still in the doldrums a bit. Like Dennis (quad bypass & 62) i`m on pills for the rest of my life.Unfortunetly they don`t help when two of the ribs which haven`t meshed on the sternum pop out.Another op to tighten the wires which have loosened doc says.I can still move about ok but i`d rather this discomfort than not being very mobile with your situation. gordon

Hi Gordon,
I feel for you having to get fixed again.
Sorry to hijack your thread Derk, but most discussions on this forum have a tendency to run off the track.
I was lucky to have private hospital insurance for my operation & private hospital stay. I was given the best available treatment & care, & it cost me very little out of pocket.
I reccomend all that can afford it to have private hospital insurance, because none of us know when or what is going to need fixing.
But after nearly 2 years since my operation, I can mow the lawn & whippersnip without any pain or risk. Its been a while, & as Gordon said we will be on tablets the rest of our lives. But we are still enjoying our life as best we can.
I'm still working on rebuilding my Olympic van, & then back onto my Dodge rebuild after I get the Olympic done, & managing all I try to do without too much problems.
Its still mostly fun.

Don't worry about highjacking the thread Dennis afterall it is a discussion forum is it not as for me that bloody sciatic nerve had the nerve to come back just before lunch today so I've done bugger all again today, did ring the boss and told him if my car aint there in the morning not to expect me, see how I am in the morning then go see me Doc if it's still buging me.

Hey Derk It was good to see you up and about last weekend - but don't push it hey? Last thing you need is to have pain, and then end up going backward. It's tempting as you get better not to take any pain medications, feeling that you're on the mend. But you're actually better to take consistent low doses of medication to keep the muscles from "arcing up", and under control. This lets them relax and not be tightened in readiness for pain, and they settle out and repair. Without some pain management, you tend to cycle in and out of pain for longer - well that's what the research says anyway. I haven't been dispensing in a pharmacy for 20 years, but I don't imagine the advice has changed. Slow and steady, Captain Turtle! Don't be a Bunny! Seeshell

Just sitting here waiting for the Doctors office to ring back with an appointment time, got up at my normal time for work and it didn't want to play so I crawled back in bed for another hour, it's not to bad at the moment so I hope I can make it to the docs before it goes AWOL again.

Think i might be better off getting some Denso tape to hold the ribs together? The arrows show how the sternum wires have stretched & loosened unlike the ones above & below them. Thanks also Dennis. gordon

Hey Gordon, looks like he missed out on knot tying classes at scouts, you think they would get something like that right first time round wouldn't you, well my Doc gave me a couple of days off to rest and some new drugs so I should start to rattle soon ;D only had one so far and it seems to be working.

Been reading through all this and a comment comes to mind that my 94 year old mum made last year when she had a fall and took a sizeable chunk out of her leg that required stitches and took 4 months to heal... When i asked her .. "how is the pain?"... she replied... "It keeps me awake most nights...throbs like hell.... But.. i shouldnt complain.... There is people out there with no legs at all ... i am lucky" ... Regards Reddo

Very true, there is always someone worse off than yourself but it's good to moan now and again isn't it?I know I'll get better but sittin round not being able to do stuff really gets to be annoying after a while.

Gordon! I saw your xray on the news tonight! Well it looked exactly the same, they were talking about lowering blood pressure by some injection into the kidneys but twice flashed up an xray identical to to yours Humpy, have you tried a chiropractor? Sometimes something that isn't quite right in your spine can put you out of whack in all sorts of places.

Humpy, have you tried a chiropractor? Never been to one and doubt I ever will, some people I know swear by them but they always seem to be going to them time after time with the same problem
