You people are only looking at the good chassis ;D ;D As over the years i have seen a lot worse, back in the late seventies on some of the old circus vans they were very average. We often wondered how many more patches they could fit on a piece of steel ;D ;D ;D Regards Gerald

2 brand new drop axles with flanges for 10" electric brakes had them made for my 18' tandem Wayfarer as per standard axles but than found i needed a narrower track to fit the mags (missed by 2 inches )Had two more bare axles made and replaced them and fitted the brakes to them they are 45mm square 2010 long overall 90mm drop and 1610mm max to outside of spring. Will only sell as a pair at $ 250.00 which is lot less than what they cost. Can supply new drums and backing plates to suit at cost. Can take to Bendigo swap if needed or pick up from Ararat or Knox field in Victoria . Can ring me on 0407 723 148 Regards Gerald

Gee reading all those names in the 1970 directory bring back some memories as i repaired a lot of those makes in the mid seventies. At our work shop we had the office wall covered with al the emblems and stickers that we cut out of the damaged panels and they were all stapled to the wall. When they moved from Amay Cresent Ferntree Gully to Gilbert park drive Scoresby, they were removed and put in a box and some years later they were all thrown out but i do still have some original stickers that were never used stored away. I will one day take some photos and post them with some original Wayfarer photos and other photos from back in the sixties and seventies. Regards Gerald

Hi I have just gone thru the same thing and yes it is no longer made and the Rimex pattern is completly different not even a close match the only thing you could do is totaly reclad it in a new pattern. We contacted al the different suppliers and they all said the same it is not made any more but if i placed a order of 5 tonne they would run it that is a lot of sheets. I do still have all the old cladding of my 18' Wayfarer (roof ,front and back) but it has screw holes and some corrosion in places and the cost to send it to Queensland would be fairly high.

Hi , To my knowledge the old screw down coupling were made illegal to use as with the cast balls with the 1/2" or 5/8 coach bolt and they were a pain in the butt as we were always changing balls as not on vanwas the same.Gerald

Hi Bec. You will find that electric brakes are the cheapest way to get brakes on your van as over ride brakes mechanical or hydralic depend on the tow vehicle to activate the movement of the coupling to make it all happen , but with electric brakes that is all done by the brake system in the tow vehicle and the controller wich should be in the drivers reach so if needed the driver can adjust the system to suit the conditions . On most vans that we build to be towed behind cars we fit electric brakes as it is the most economical way to do it. For a staight forward fitting of axle with brakes you should be looking at around the $950 to $1100 mark but it is not alway a straight forward as people think as if the springs, bolts etc are worn or break as it is dismantled the cost increases as you sometimes find that there are no replacement parts available .If you would like to see how the brakes work or want some other information feel free to contact me .Regards Gerald

Slight mix up in the years of the Studebaker it will be the 1963 Lark four door as the 1937 is been dismanteled to have its body slapped back into shape as it is showing its age a little and we have to reasemble its heart. We hope to see lots of people there so we can put a face to all the names.
