Congrats Col! I expect it went to a more deserving vanner, who will appreciate the beauty of yesteryear. Now I'll head off into my little corner and stop spruiking the virtues of vans for sale here ;D Ray

I'm not a young chick (!) but think the van is just gorgeous! What $ are you looking at Kaybee? (by the way, I loved your description and pics of the clearing sale!). Donna

G'day Col, I was just searching the forum for some info, and came across this thread about jenniewren's van. She found the chassis number of 565 welded inside the drawbar, just about where the drawbar disappears under the van (photo in the linked thread). Perhaps if you could get the new owner to have a good look in that area there might be something there. Would be good to discover the van is one of the earliest Coronets. cheers, Al.

This is what happens when you are sleeping and not visiting the forum as often as you should Now thats a shed!!! Nice van too, bet you got a surprise when you found her tagging along behind A good van has a sixth sense when it comes to ferretting out a nice new owner, who will just let her be herself. Bet she's glad you showed up.

Yep...she who snoozes loses! ;D And now for the biggy especially for Al....it's number "9"......it's where you said,on the inside of the rail...a big arc welded figure 9....is that good? ;D

G'day Col, Hell YES!!! ;D ;D Finding No.9 of any brand of van has gotta be up there with winning a major prize in the lottery! I think this makes your decision to "save" the van from the auction clutches all the more admirable. Good on you! cheers, Al.

Hi All,
I am pleased ;D to be the new caretaker (starting tomorrow) of this beautiful van. I say that because rather than simply owning these artifacts, I believe it is important we take care of them for future generations.
Over the last few years, I have been looking for a well-maintained and original 1950/60s van. I already have an EK Holden and have been interested in collecting vintage stuff for about 20 years.
I am a mechanical engineer with a few home handyman skills and my wife is an interior decorator. We both love the styling from the 1950s and are currently renovating our 1950s weatherboard home in keeping with its age.
This is a great forum and I hope to benefit from the wealth of experience available.
If anyone would like to inspect the van (in Rosanna) and offer advice, you would be most welcome.
Now I'm off to build a new carport!
Cheers, Paddy

Hi all, I am hoping this thread still has some active members in it, but I am looking at buying this van, see photos below, hope ok with owner to reproduce, but I’m guessing it will be. It is exactly the same van as that bought by kaybee at the auction, barring the red spats and the missing gas lampshade 😊. I have trawled through the coronet history videos to see if it mentions these first bondwoods, presumably 1959 or 60s vans, but it is more about slightly later vans. Also read the coronet history thread with the giant bondy of same ilk! I am wondering if it might even be the same van? I have become a serial vintage caravan owner so need to downside my collection of others before a new acquisition, but I can’t look past this one. After a number of trips in my 50s handmade 12.5 footer with my young son, I have decided twin beds is a must. I don’t like to dismantle table to sleep so have decided a bigger van is in order. Too much work as a solo caravanner and mum otherwise. I am wondering about the damaged ply at the back. Maybe rot but more like a bang (though are two spots). How to repair? Thoughts? Metal patch after rot inspection? I am yet to see van in the flesh. Yours in deep respect and love of old vans as they are. I wouldnt change a thing in any of my vans. ****Oops just see there is a second page of posts, and yes, this is the same van! Hello Paddy, speak tomorrow!
