Can the experts help here..... To day I was told the PCD on FJ wheels is the same as 13" Holden wheels (FC EH etc) Is this so?..................It would make my life very much easier if it is!

Thats what I thought JBJ.......The bloke 'appeared' to know what he was talking about. Looks like I will have to get some new drums with the right PCD. (electric braked)

I think the guy wasn't paying attention and is referring to HX & HJ..........not FX (49/215) & FJ

Hi Humpty
''FX -FJ were the first pattern, with 15" rims
FE to HR were second pattern, with 13" rims. Quite a few differences between individual model wheels.
HK to HG had same bolt pattern, but 14" wheels
HQ to HZ had chev bolt pattern, different again. Same bolt pattern as Jag I think
Torana/Commodore I have no idea, or interest. But early Torana have same pattern as FE to HR I think

G'day humpty
The closest I can get to a sensible number is.... PCD = 6.5 inches ...... or 166.7176 mm.
The distance between two adjacent studs is 98mm (centre to centre )
But don't forget.......... I'm the bloke who thought FX and FJ wheels were interchangeable
Cobber.
PS. Did a google.... This site says the PCD is 6.375 inches.

I would think that FX & FJ wheels are interchangeable providing you used the correct wheel nuts. 7/8" for early series 48-53 & 3/4" for FJ.

Hi Humpty2 Just to add some confusion to the FX/FJ wheels topic. From memory... the FE ( 1956) wheel bearings where a mix of FJ and the FE .FJ inner diameter with FE outer diameter to suit 13" hubs. Which Probably meant that Holden where still running FJ stub axles. This meant that the FJ boys could shuffle the bearings onto their FJs and run the hubs with the FE ( 108mm PCD) pattern...... 13" wheels... Never heard of anyone fiddling and running 15" FJ Hubs / wheels on FE ....... but in theory it would be possible. You would need to sit down with a Holden parts book and sort through the bearing numbers... or have a yarn with someone that is as old as you or me i in a auto parts shop. I am sure someone...... .. will correct me .. or at least clarify this if I am wrong ?? Reddo

....hi reddo,I tried to answer you but once again this crappy site lost the post when I previewed it....note to administrators.....this "new"format is irritating in the extreme and must have some bearing upon the lack of activity here. I've lost enthusiasm for posting as a result ,I'm sure I'm not the only one.....

Hi Kaybee,
I thought it was something I was doing wrong when I keep losing my postings at that stage. Like you, I have pretty well given up posting any more. I will continue to try, but whenever it drops out I just accept that what I meant to put on here really wasnt worth worrying about, & that is not good. If we dont have our contributors posting answers, there will be a continuing decline in the genuine interest in the forum.

Hi Guys
Yup .. I agree.. I think the only way to avoid what is happening is to .. Firstly hit"Reply".. ( obviously). Then.... before you start typing select"Preview" bottom left of screen. There ya can muck about with font size etc... and I don't think things will disappear while you are in the preview mode. When finished just hit"create post" bottom right of screen.
Just another step to do but should ensure ya don't lose anything.
Just a bit more crap technology that we didn't need before , cluttering up our lives now.

Gunna pull the hubs and bearings out tomorrow....then I will know what the bearings are off. I suspect them to be all holden as the current set up is a Wesco 10" electric brakes with 13" holden wheels. Aim is to replace the brake and hubs with Alko electric brakes .....using the existing axle.

If you're having trouble losing posts when Previewed, do as reddo suggests and change your "default posting editor". Log in - click 'Profile' at top of screen - click [Edit Profile] box over on right hand side top - click 'Settings' tab up near top left - Go halfway down the settings page to heading 'Posting Default' and change the dot to 'Preview'. Click [Save Account Settings] box at bottom.
cheers, Al.

And while you're in the 'edit profile' space click the 'yes' box alongside the 'enable drafts' box.... that enables the system to recover a post even after you've 'lost' it..... sometimes Cobber.

I have FX or FJ wheels on my Gypsy is you need some photos or measurements. and I always copy the text of my posts to MS word - before I preview, that way I can copy and paste it back in if I lose it

HR hubcaps should go close.!!

yeah they should but the bearing cap stops the hubcap from clipping on. they went on the old fatty rims that i took off because of lack of clearance. these other rims are narrow and can get on and off the van without any drama.

From 'Our Touring Past' website....hope this might help?
Well it has taken me a while to get around to it but with the help of some original factory photos I have tracked down the hubcaps that were supplied to new Sunliners . The hubcaps that were supplied by Mid North Coast Plastics are actually Holden FB EK commercial hubcaps ,as they do not have the Holden Logo on them as the passanger vehicles did. I came across this set at the Ballarat swap meet earlier this year for our Sunliner .
Cheers Sutcac

Hi Burnsy,
I had a van a few years back that had hubs made by an aftermarket manufacturer. They were FJ pattern, but the hub stuck out further than Holden did, so FJ hubcaps wouldnt fit. I cut out the centre with a hole neatly fitting the hub, & painted the hub end silver.
I also think as you have the smaller Holden wheels, you should try the aftermarket hubcaps found a truck parts suppliers. They generally have several sizes of deep dish domed hubcaps, & one of these may be the right size to fit your Holden rim, & clear the hub end. I have fitted them to a car wheel in the past, but cant remember which wheel.
