Hi greedy, I never thought of that, I actually think there is a wood working group based in cooroy, i remember reading about them in the paper, using the canfalaurel (sorry if its spelt wrong- I know nothing about trees!!!ha ha ha ) trees for excess wood, as they are classed as a pest tree, and the group are always on the look out for wood to work with- I'll give them a call and see what i can find out....cheers for the idea! nic

G'day Nicole, Camphor Laurel trees might be a pest, but the timber is a great timber for blanket boxes, because the camphor acts as an insect repellent (keeps the silver fish at bay). It's a nice timber for wood turning as well. Many years ago I made a golf trophy on a wood lathe out of camphor laurel bits and red cedar bits of timber. The tree might be considered a pest, but the actual timber is beautiful. You can check out whether there is a Mens Shed in your area on this website: www.mensshed.org/page7859/Home.aspxIt's a great idea to check them out. They're chock full of old codgers who do all sorts of wonderful things. Some of them probably worked in the caravan industry all those years ago. ;D cheers, Al.
