G'day Dave, An easier question might be, "Does anybody know the name of the shift electrician that wired my van in the factory??" Firstly, I have to ask you what information you have that makes you think your van is an Ambassador? The reason I ask is because the Ambassador model didn't usually get the wrap-around windows, although they were available as an "optional extra" if wanted. So, the majority of Ambassadors will not have the corner windows. Secondly, for a model that was only launched in late 1964, the stickers changed a few times over the following years up to 1971. The tricky bit is trying to work out exactly which sticker belongs to your particular model. I've said on this forum before that the Viscount history is proving to be the hardest of all the major brands to work out accurately. Just when I think I've got a handle on being able to date them fairly accurately, along comes a van that blows all my theories out of the water. Bearing in mind that I'm not confident about anything to do with Viscounts, this is what I think is the case with the Ambassador stickers during the 1960s... 1. I think this one is from the start of the model in 1964... 2. Within a couple of years it had changed to look like these ones... (a) only the shadow showing: (b) only the start of the sticker remaining: 3. By the end of the 1960s, the sticker had changed again to look like this... Out of all the Viscount vans I have in my photo collection, the only photo I can show you that has the same side-stripe design as yours, as well as having an original label, is this one... You can't see the label all that clearly, so I don't really know if this van is a Viscount, or an Ambassador with the wrap-around windows. If you look at the outline of the sticker, it sort of looks like it might be similar to this one that's on magicangelisa's Viscount... Now you know how confusing it is for the historians amongst us to try and work out what's what with Viscounts. I would recommend you don't rush out and get any repo stickers made up, at least not until more information comes to hand so that we can be a lot more definite about what was on your van. cheers, Al.

Hi Al, They dont make it easy do they, As for what our van is, I am only going by what I have been told ? which is the great thing about this site, people actually know what they are talking about. That last pic of yours is the goods. Since I posted this wanted ad I have found a gas test certificate for Aug 1969 with the number 4492 which is correct for our van. I cant see why this wouldnt be close to the build/sale date ? Hope this may mean something for dating Viscounts.
Cheers
Dave & Tina
