G'day Liz, A cheap alternative to a metal step is to make one out of treated pine decking. You can measure the height from the caravan floor to the ground, and divide that height by three. Then make a 2-tread step which covers the first and second heights (am I making any sense here? ). It cost me $20 and a couple of hours to make mine. "She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed" has difficulty making the normal step with her dicky knees and short legs, so this timber alternative makes it heaps easier. It would be easier for your littlies to climb as well, plus it makes a great stool or coffee table when necessary. The step gets placed inside the doorway when you pack up to travel, and weighs only 5kg, so it's light to lift and carry... This little 'home project' has worked really well for us. ;D cheers, Al.
