Hi all, just found this little van in Sydney. www.motorsm.com/AUS/caravans/used/display.asp?aid=3823 I know it says it was made in the 70s but (in my infinite wisdom) it looks older than that to me - more like the 1960 one in the DHL thread. Now, somebody save me from myself because I just can't help myself looking at all these lovely VVs!

G'day surfingyogini, Yep, this Globe Trotter is from down near the start of the 1960s. If you end up contacting the seller, ask them to look for the chassis number stamped on the front drawbar. It should be four numbers (or maybe three). You can then check that number against the list in the Globe Trotter history thread. We know that chassis number 2617 was bought new in 1964, so the one you've posted will be before that. There's no point in you asking people on this forum to save you from looking at vintage vans. A government grant has been given to a university research centre to try and develop a cure for it, but at this stage nobody is being optimistic. Once the disease takes hold, it gets progressively worse as you age, although yoga, meditation, and stewed broccoli can sometimes help. ;D good luck, cheers, Al.

G'day surfingyogini (and Franklin1),
This van is pretty much identical to my Globetrotter (except for front sliding window which is obviously a later addition) and I am thinking from the records I have that this van would be 1959-60. If you look at Snail's Globe, it is a slightly different shape and Snail claims it to be 1964.
Depending on the final price, this could be a good pick up for someone living on the east coast.

It's a set price listing so that's all the owner wants for it!
