This van is located at Robinvale (Victoria). The following info has been provided by the seller: FOR SALE1969 Viscount Duralvan, serial number 1646A 18 feet long plus approx 1 metre for drawbar. 8 foot wide. HistoryThe Caravan was purchased in 1969 and was placed in a shed where it stood for 30 years. The owners were going to set it up and go around Australia, which never happened. I purchased the Van in 1999 and it has been undercover all its life. The Stove, Shower, Toilet and Gas Hot water unit have never been used. I have used the Refrigerator a few times. It has the original Decals still in fantastic order. Since I have purchased this Van, it has been to Mildura once to have the following items installed: Electric Brakes, Split System Air-condition, Micro wave, Exhaust Fan, TV jacks and Outside Awning. Only (one) trip has been done in this Van and that was to Pooncarie. The only reason that this Caravan is for sale is due to ill-health. Asking Price $15,000
According to the owner the van is virtually in mint condition having never have been used apart from the one trip involving a distance of around 230 kms. From what he said, he also added the roll out awning visible in the pic. Contact details for the seller are available from me. Don Ricardo

G'day DonR, Since this van is allegedly a 1969 model, which means it sits on the border of Vintage and Classic, I feel it would be useful to point out that the side-stripe colouring is consistent with Viscounts produced in 1971, as per this photo... Note also the vans above carried the new style Viscount logo, which was introduced in mid-1970 when the Duralvan was discontinued and the Royal and Supreme models were introduced to the line-up. Viscount were never fastidious in making vans that were historically correct to the model date, so you can get examples of previous stickers being applied to later models, or windows that were not the wind-out type, when the model says they should be, etc etc. Viscounts from the 1969/70 era carried the lightning flashes on the sides, such as in this example... DonR, if you haven't made a 'typo' in the asking price stated, then that figure is...err...interesting. cheers, Al.

Hi Al,
I typed out the info as supplied to Firegfighter and me without amendment. However, based on the pictures you have provided your statement re a 1971 build date looks pretty persuasive to me.
As indicated the current owner is the second owner, who I imagine relied on what he was told by the first owner regarding when it was purchased. As we have all experienced, the info regarding the purchase/build date of V V's (or even C V's) can be a bit rubbery especially when the story has been passed on from one person to another. Usually (but not always) the vans are reputed to be older than they are...
I won't comment on price, except to say that a good deal of money seems to have been invested in the van to modernise it - electric brakes, split system A/C, micro wave, exhaust fan, TV jacks and outside awning. If one did want to purchase an older style van which had been modernised with all mod cons, I'd think the the total package could cost you a fair bit if you did happen to want all that gear but didn't want to go to the trouble yourself...
Not that I'm commenting on price, mind you...
