Unfortunately a participating family at Coledale, Chris & Kate with their 2 little boys were involved in an accident on the way home. Chris & Kate were the couple with the 14' Olympic Debonair across the bridge down the end. Apparently Chris was changing a lane and didn't see the fast approaching silver/grey XR8. A sideswipe occurred......opened up the XR8.......spun Chris's Cherokee 180 and tipped the Olympic onto it's side. Fortunately no one was hurt........the Olympic will be an easy repair........Kates comment......."Now we've got a mark to match the one on the other side". The Jeep had damage to it's bull-bar and front wheel/suspension. They had family in the area who were contacted and they are probably home by now. The car and van were removed by tow truck.
It will be a day or 2 for the pictures of Coledale as I have a magazine to put together for my Car Club.
Regards Humpty.

Hi Humpty I was about to put a long winded post about how great Coledale was this year . After reading your news about the smash i have had the wind taken out of my sails and find that a simple "You have my sympathy Chris and Kate" would be more in order at this point in time. Thank god no-one was injured. I will drop back later with a bit more about Coledale. Reddo

Glad to hear everyone is alright
Caravans and cars are replaceable But human life is too precious to lose.
Hope Chris and Kate are up and doing all the usual stuff again soon

Top pics folks. I'm with Bobt!
Nice to see some of the vans we've admired in the rebuilding out for the run.
Maybe I missed it, but who did win the Coledale 100 (or whatever the distance was) in the end? I've read about practice runs, broken carts, and attempted skulduggery, but not the official results...

Don Ricardo, I thought you were a man of peace and then you ask a leading question, "what was the official result of the Coledale 100?". Do we really need another controversy on the forum? ;D ;D ;D Ok, if you insist, I believe that the winner was Team Red-oh, closely followed by Wayne "Who put that rock on the track" Sugarshack in his immacutely presented Blue Oval Blazer which seemed to constantly lose power just before the finish line. I am also lead to believe that in true Blue Oval tradition, old "Rocky" Sugarshack has lodged a protest after an unfortunate incident in which he claimed that he was deliberately rammed by "Mad Max the Mauler" Maurie. The tribunal is currently looking at photographic evidence to be provided by Humpty. Team Red-oh was a consistant winner, although fading brakes on a couple of runs provided some excitement amongst those baying for blood. The overall losers were the residents of the leafy suburb of "Coledale Heights" who had their weekend shattered by the invasion of the rev-heads and ankle-biters from the lower suburb of Kerosine Alley after the official track was placed in their quiet neighbourhood. My perspective in Categories? Fastest But Ugliest - Team Red-oh Best Presented - Rocky Sugarshack Most Lethal - Kingy's 3 wheel Lightweight Rocket Pig With Potential - Mad Max Maurie Best Presented Vintage - Sly Fox Cobber Best Traditional Woodie - Sutcac (Team Red No. 2) Quickest Lady - Mrs Cobber The Rock On the Starting Grid The Sly Fox The Track (through Coledale Heights The huge crowds cheering on Team Red-oh The climb to the top To quote a famous line, "it's about the people, not the billycarts " Daggsey

I beleive Morrie is inisant of all charges must have been the back bearings that we did a quick repair that morning. And Reddo did the Slarlem in 6.7 sec and the down hill race in 5.7 sec. So with their holden and the ford teams, I have already started sorcing parts for my entry onto Coledale 100 2009 it will be team merc at the moment their will be one but hopefully their will be two carts Wildmanaus

Hey Guys,
Was thinking i better bring a few bricks to sit the Franklin on next year so all the billy carts can get underneath! Think of it as a bridge..!
Anywho, was great to see those of you who were all set up last Thursday night.. was spewing i couldn;t have fully participated like last year, oh well. Bring on Canton Beach and Coledale 2008!
Take Care, J-Rod.

Just re-joined the forum so have spent some time catching up on what's been happening! We had a great weekend, with only the minor glitch when we saw Chris & Kate's van. We must have been less than 5 minutes behind them and stopped to see if all were well. Shaken up but okay. The two little ones were a bit upset of course but felt better when they saw that their Olympic wasnt too badly damaged, and daddy can fix that anyway! We've known them for about four years but don't have a phone number to get in touch with them! Can anyone help out please? A big thank you to Deb who made a little girl's day with a beautiful princess dress and tiara bought especially for Emma to wear to Saturday night's dinner. Emma loved it and thought she really was a princess! Some people have beautiful hearts! Sue (nee Giraffe)

I'm about to attempt to put on the photos of the incident in which Maurie innocently ( I think!) cut across the bows of Wayne......you can all be the judge! Vehicle A cuts in front of vehicle B Vehicle B loses control. Vehicle A looks back to make sure he "did the job!" Vehicle A driver is either horrified or amused.....who knows! At driver B's situation.

Wildmanaus... or is that wildmanarse . Perhaps we should of made him the apex donation tin. ;D It is my belief that there was some intent by vehicle "A" to "impede the progress of vehicle "B". By "Impede" i mean... T bone ... maim... disable .... eliminate... destroy. C.A.M.S is looking into the incident. Early reports coming from the boardroom is that "Cole Racing " will be penalised. 2 second handicap on all starts on the mountain next year. Us here at Holden racing arent real concerned about that decision. "Team Sugarshack Ford" could have 5 seconds head start in a 6 second race against Reddo rat racing and Cole Racing Holdens and still loose. Great action shots Humpty..... HOLDEN ROOLS OK... ;D Reddo.......
