Hi Guys, Must admit that im really looking forward to Coledale this year.Is the fancy dress theme for Saturday night 60s .Does anyone know how many vans are going and if the place is going to be full.I was going to lend a van to a mate but if the place is full I dont want any forum member missing out on a spot.I hear that all generator owners must turn left when coming into the park and stay on the northern end.Is anyone planning on being there Wednesday .Cheers Dave

Hi Dave,
Hope yuou are well! Unfortunatley im not going to be able to bring my Van to Coledale this year as i have to travel interstate for a close friends engagement...
Anyhow, so i will be notifying Norm this week that i will not be on my site this year, but will be booking it for 2009. Last year was my first, and i was up in the new section next to Alan & Di and a guy with a Propert and XY Falcon. Would be more than happy to put a forum member or help you out seeings as though i cant make it this year.
Cheers, J

Hello the" real" Geoff and Jude. I have just recieved a phone call from one of the tour "Dementiarers" John and Pam Daniels from Muswellbrook will be on the tour with us and staying at Coledale till the end of the weekend. John states that he rang Norm and booked a spot . Not sure if it was allocated along Kero Alley or up in the cul-de-sac. He phoned very early in the year when i proposed this years tour. They are not on the forum but i bump into them regularly at car shows etc. Could you please have a yarn with Norm and sort out a site for them?? I will pm you Johns ph number so if you need to talk to him you can. Thanks for all your efforts.. not long now.. Reddo.. Category "A" - Ratvanner ;D C/- Site 11 Kero Alley.. next to the" Anthill mob".

Dear Geoff & Jude,
Thanks for all your efforts in sorting things out for Coledale.
On the weekend we went down to Wairo Beach for a Hot Rod event. Whilst there we spoke to a gentleman called Malcolm and his wife who had a little 9ft Bondwood Nowra Caravan that he had recently finished restoring. He said that he had popped down to Coledale last year for the day but that he had booked in for the weekend this year. So we will need to include him somewhere (perhaps in the Cul-de-sac)??
He isn't a member as yet, but I did tell him about the site - so he might log on and see this message.
I don't have any contact details for him but can perhaps try and track him down to confirm which nights etc. Before I do that - Leanne (Cruz), when he moved his van up near yours - did you get to talk to him? Do you have contact details for him??
Regards Di

Hello All We're so looking forward to Coledale and to seeing you all again. Margaret can show you all her new electric wiring, her new vintage net curtains and her holiday photos when she was carted up to Queensland last summer. Next week she is going to Mudgee for the wine festival and is looking forward to bringing back lots of wine.
Hey Maurie I hope we can park nearby again for good old fashioned kid fun, bat and ball, five go mad in a caravan (Enid Blyton) and not a computer game to be seen.

Hi all,
Chippy Dave - you asked if anyone would be at Coledale on the Wednesday. We will be arriving on Saturday 11th October and leaving on Monday 20th October, so we will be there early along with Maurie, Kate and the family.
I've been meaning to walk across the Coalcliffe Bridge since it opened - looks like I will finally have time to do it, this trip.
Regards Di

Hi All, have added a few more names to the list , thanks to all who PM'd me- we have 48 vans & I am sure we are still missing a few names.
Everyone is in their usual spots , but we will all have to scrunch up a bit - that way you get to know your neighbours "really" well.
I will put up a final list by Sunday night & Norm will have a list with him.
We have three over the bridge now & any extras will be over there as well.
I also just spoke to Norm & he's looking forward to us all being there again
Jude

48 vans - how good is that !!!! I'm sure we will pass the 50 mark, once the event actually starts. Hey Sutcac, yes I know what you mean about a weight limit. My plan was to walk across the bridge earlier in the week before I have 10 days of drinking, eating and generally relaxing. Hopefullly I might just make it !!!! Di

Todays tip for those "North of the bridge" Oil your rear end rollers and grease the skids under the back of your vans. From memory the entry an exit ramps either side of that causeway / bridge are reasonably sharp. I wouldnt want to tackle it in a lowered car or with a long van on behind. Sorta wander why Norm cant open up the area behind the surf club to a few vans. There is a permanent van there. a few more wouldnt hurt for a few days. I would rather face up to a buncha angry anthill kids for parking on the official playground area than to "run aground " down on the bridge. . Other news .. I inherited an old Billycart i built for my boys when they where 10 and 13 ( now 19 and 22). I had thrown it out for the kerbside pick up after they had used and abused it for years. . the neighbours collected it off the footpath for thier boy. He grew out of it and i spotted it back out on the kerbside junk yesterday... so its back with us again after 10 years..... It has almost worn it self out going backwards and forwards over the fence. ;D talk about recycling Very rusted and only 3 wheels left on it....made from council barrier board stands and 4 x 16" pushbikes frame pieces welded together. weighs as much as a leopard tank.. "Team Reddotel" are working feverishly in "The pits" to have it ready for the tour and coledale. Fine tuning , research and development will be ongoing down the main street of every town we stop at on the tour... Be afraid...... Reddo@tricycles.r.us.com Reddo Site 11 - Kerosine Alley Coledale

Sooooooooooooooooooooo everyone,
What's the final decision re: Dress up for Saturday Night at Coledale.
On the forum so far I have read:
* Back to the 60's * Silly/Funny Hat * Surfies and bikers
Whatever the decision, it's fine with us - we will go along with the flow.
But I only have 14 days before we leave, so i'll need to start getting my act together if we are going full on and not just a hat.
What do you all think???
Regards Di

OK Reddo ..................... YOU'RE ON ! . I still have the billy cart I built for my kids thirty years ago..... truly “vintage billy cart” stuff ;D. Might need some restoration work on it, but it will not need modification....well, there isn't much of it there to modify, new wheels maybe and a new bit of rope. It has never suffered the indignity of being chucked out for the kerb side clean up day so it still retains its dignity, and has been standing ready to do battle at Coledale all these years. I only have two problems......... who's going to sit in / on it..... and who's going to push it ? Come to think of it I got three problems........... who's going to stop it, it's got no brakes, it weighs less than 10cwt so it didn't need breaks Cobber.

Hey Fossil.... You built it .. you drive it... thats the rools ....OK . You can enter in the stock / unmodified group "B" class. It will need to pass scrutineering. Thirty year rope smelling like cobberbarn rat pee will not be tolerated. Nor will Biggles style leather flying helmets. Ya gunna havta comply with the latest Australian Standards. Ya might get away with dodgey brakes and shonky couplings on that wobbly old 1946 caravan.. but when it comes to billycarts ya gotta get passed the marshalls... of which i am one. Mind you a small donation to the Apex tin might see a slackening of the rules and a failing of my eyesight on the day . A billy cart with 12 pensioner airbags... i'd like to see that. ;D Would look like a jar full of marshmellows As they say..."Your not in the race old china" Reddo >.. "ya dunno where your at ...until ya have raced the rat".

Yeah righto Reddo... if you can't win fairly by cheating ya going to play the old “rules” caper eh? Have a look at this site, it might give you a few clues on how to build a cart that might be a match for the “Leppington Flash”. This cart of mine won the garden demolition derby..... the gate post collision competition... the pet dog dodgem disaster ... the dam floatation flop........ all in the space of it's first week on the road. Thirty years of refinement behind this cart of mine... you should be worried. www.abc.net.au/rollercoaster/dash/arena/games/billycart.htm Cobber.

Hi Indi Go back to the start of the Coledale 2008 thread. You will need to either ring Norm at Coiledale Beach Camping reserve and book a spot .... or better still. Send a pm to Geoff and Jude. They are doing a great job of sorting out a real mess with the bookings. Van park computer crashed the other day and Norm lost around 50 Bookings.
Do it.... NOW!!!
