Has anyone heard of a PATHMASTER?
We were given a rough one which we swapped for a window and new rubbers for a friends ADVENTURER. (same windows as a Globe Trotter)
It is about 10 foot long with ally cladding, the sides having a leather grain embossed into the ally. I've never seen any ally like it but it looked great.
It has Cararest windows the same as a Roadmaster.
Is there a link to Roadmaster? (a path being a small "road")
I would post some pics but I've given up trying to find a link to do it on. Any help on either would be appreciated. Thanks ,Beetles

G'day Beetles and welcome to the forum. It's a toss-up which name is rarer...the Pathmaster or your friend's Adventurer. I've only seen one Adventurer posted on this forum, and no Pathmasters that I can recall. In the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper archives, the Pathmaster gets a mention only in 1966 and only in a couple of classified advertisements during that year. One is in January 1966 for a used Pathmaster 6 berth, but doesn't say the actual size, and the other is in August 1966 for a Clearance sale of Good Used Vans, including a Pathmaster, 14ft, 2 singles, 1 double, gas stove, deluxe Hollands, exc cond. With just those two examples to guide us, it's hard to say what the real story is in relation to the name Pathmaster. The van you mentioned is about 10ft long, and the ones in the advertisements I've found seem to relate to vans around 14ft, so there were at least a couple of different sizes made under this name. I can't offer any reason why the name only appears during 1966, because that seems a very short time for a brand of van to exist. Obviously there's much more to the Pathmaster story than what we've found so far... I reckon you should go and buy the van back from whoever you sold it to. You could be the owner of something that might be fairly rare. To post photos on the forum, read the information in this link to the first post in the Members Photo Album section... vintagecaravans.proboards30.com/index.cgi?board=photo&action=display&thread=1176Look forward to seeing some photos of the Pathmaster. cheers, Al. [just as an aside to other readers of the forum...in the first advertisement mentioned above in January 1966, the list of used vans for sale includes a 25ft plywood van, which coincidentally was the longest length that plywood sheets were available in back then. Can't say I've seen or heard of anyone coming across a 25ft plywood van before on this forum, so it would be interesting to see something of that size pop up somewhere. Another van in the list for sale was a Wayfarer tandem, 18ft 6ins.]

Thanks for the info on the Pathmaster Al. It was far too much work for me to do and the Adventurer needed that window more than I need more projects. At the rate I work I'll never finish half of mine. After 5 years worth of Saturdays on THE HIGHWAY PALACE I know a little about restoring old vans. My mate's Adventurer is interesting in that was built lower to fit in the original owners shed, so at 6ft 1 I have to stand in the hatch area or sit down. It was lowered in the chassis and the roof is flatter. The original owner is also in our car club. Cheers Beetles
