Hi all
I can finally confirm some information about Maroochydore. I have listed below the reply from the manager of Maroochydore/Mudjimba Parks - Greg. He has offered sites at $28 per night (discount of $5 per night) plus have us all camp together. From the first time I spoke to him he was keen to have our group and the park is clean, just behind the sand dune to the main beach and a quick walk to the surf club for dinner friday night. For those who attended Mooloolaba it is about 5 k further north on the same beach .
I need numbers to confirm and have two dates in place as possibilities. 27/28 February or 6/7 March
Can we confirm numbers (roughly as I will book a few extra as tentative sites). This should be a great weekend and only 1 hour north of brisbane or a quick slide down the hill for sutcat. I'll be there with the Hillman and teardrop (unless if I find a bondy before then).
Rod G. Below is the email reply from Seabreeze Caravan Park
Hi Rod
We would love to accommodate The Vintage Caravan Group and we will be able to on either weekend – At this stage we are able to allocate sites to enable all vans to be together in the same area
The cost per night would be $28.00 per night for up to two people per van – Our normal rate for this time in 2009 will be $33.00 per night
Please confirm by return email if you wish to make a reservation Kind regards Greg, Janine & Vania Have a nice day

Hi Rod,
Sounds good, thanks for putting in the effort.
Seeing we are meeting this coming weekend, we should be able to give some numbers by Monday, & a confirmation of which date is preferred.
I've heard we will have at least 15 vans at Canungra. Thats a pretty big effort.
I guess this coming weekend will the First Christmas get together for Vintage Vans ( at least that I know of).
It just keeps growing .

Hello folk, yes Rod we will be there so leave us a site please. If this w/end is half as good as Cunungra it will be great. Would like to thank all who organised Cunungra, job well done and all others for the great company.
Fairlane got home and used no water. It will use none to go to Maroochydore so close it will not even get warm.

27/28 February it is then. Thanks Dosse for the call to confirm . I will contact the park tomorrow and make 15 tentative bookings and advise whether we need names/deposits etc. I will also check out the info on what surf club for dinner on the Friday night. By the time it comes around it will be 12 months since i last went away with the group so much motivation to get things organised. Rod G.

Hi All Just looking at the dates for Maroochydore and NSW Berry Getogether. Its a pity the S.E.Q run wasnt on 6/7 March i would have taken a week or so annual leave off . Come up there then spent a week cruisin down the coast .Maybe swap vans back here in Newcastle and head down Coledale for a night then on to Berry on Friday 13th March...... A nice little tour. Hmmmmmmm ........ might have to take a 2 week dip at some long service. You can put me down as a "definite maybe"... If you guys get your quota of 15 locals then i will happily bow out . Reddo

Hi all,
As I was up in Maroochydore and Mooloolaba for the last two weeks I thought I would give you some feedback on the locals clubs that I ate at.
The Maroochydore Surf Club is the closest club to Sea Breeze Caravan Park (approx 5 min walk). We ate there for Sunday Morning Buffet Breakfast - the view was great but the meal left alot to be desired and we both left most of the food on the plate.
Alexandra Headland Surf Club is the next closest club (approx 7 min walk). Also great view. Highly recommended. Have eaten there 5 times recently and every time was great. Monday Night's - Schnitzel night, best Chicken Schnitzel I have ever eaten. They also have a courtesy bus if you decide the walk is too far on the way home after a few drinks !!!!!
Maroochydore RSL is a very good club for both food and entertainment (day and night). They also have a really well organised courtesy bus service that will pick you up and drop you off afterwards. They are going through a big refurbishment at present, so hopefully that will be finished by end Feb.
Mooloolaba Bowling Club - don't know if they have a courtesy bus, but would think so. They advertise the best (cheapest) roast on the coast. Thursday night (from memory) 2 courses $9.00, 3 courses $11.00 - was very popular with lots of tables reserved. I had Lamb Shanks which were nice.
Mooloolaba Surf Club, spent lots of time here as it is "the local" of my friends. Friday and Sunday Night Carvery is lovley - $13.50 all you can eat, 3 roasts and all the veggies and salad you want. The Sunday night has Ham as one of the roasts so I preferred that to Friday but still went 4 times in 2 weeks. Also one of the few clubs on the Sunshine Coast that have Sweet White Wine available - so that was a big plus for me, especially for Melbourne Cup !!!! ;D ;D I think they have a courtesy bus.
So basically if you are walking I would recommend Alexandra Headland Surf Club. If you are driving or getting the courtesy bus I would recommend Maroochydore RSL or Mooloolaba Surf Club. Enjoy !!!
Obviously things may change between now and February, but that might give you a guideline.
Kind Regards Di

Di, Thanks for the feedback. The caravan park mentioned Maroochydore surf club is only a short walk but Alexandra Headland is only down the road and courtesy bus may be a good idea to get there. Forget the driving and if the weather is fine we could remove the shoes and walk the beach back to the caravan park after dinner. Dinner we can discuss 2 weeks before the date. Reddo, It would be good to see you up here so hopefully things will fall into place as the more the merrier and 15 vans may be just the start. Caravan park people are keen. I just need full names so please email these direct to me rather than post it here. Also include your caravan and car makes as it may intrigue the park managers even more plus a little easier to recognise people as they arrive. NO deposit is necessary but just names asap. In the weeks prior to the event i will make a run up there to sus out the food and other facilities just to be sure. Forget Christmas- I am looking forward more now to February. Rod G.

The names have started coming in -thanks Some friends mentioned today that last week they had some great meals at the right price at the Alexandra Headlands surf lifesaving club which is located on the beachfront not far from the caravan park. With the option of a courtesy bus or beach walk back home it looks like the go for our Friday dinner. If anyone is keen on Friday morning we can meet again at the Etamogah Pub and cruise in convoy to the park. Those that did this last year remember the tourist buses stopping at Etamogah and a lot of photos being taken plus the management of that place are right on side with us as well. Rod G.
