It was mentioned at the last outing that we might try somewhere in the bush for the next outing & sometime early November. What do you think of the following two places for somewhere different. 1. Sharp Park - Beechmont Road Canungra. (PH 0409 550 745) Prices $5 per adult per night & $2 per child per night
It is located on the Coomera River 3klm from Canungra. Facilities - BBQ, pets allowed, swimming, fishing, picnic tables, walking tracks, toilets, showers, open fires. There is no power (generators are allowed) and showers are a mobile arrangement that they bring around of an afternoon.
2. Flanagan Reserve - Flanagan Reserve Road Rathdowney. (PH 07 5544 3128, http://www.flanaganreserve.com.au) Prices $5 per adult per night & $2 per child per night
It is located on the Logan River at the foothills of Mt Maroon, approximately 14klms from Rathdowney. Facilities - BBQ, swimming, fishing, picnic tables, pets allowed, walking tracks, showers, laundry, kiosk, power.
Both Canungra & Rathdowney are pretty little country towns. Many of you indicated that end of November was pretty full on your calender so how is 7th, 8th, 9th November.
I can bring some firewood for the campfires.

G'day Neil & Cheryl I am having visions of mobile showers being a little tent then some-body throws a bucket of water over the top.Ilse & I went down to Canungra yesterday to have a look and were impressed with the Canungra sport & recreation reserve inc, talked with Pat about the weekend of the 7th of November Pat & Ian are the on-site caretakers. There is power, toilets, showers, open fires ( free firewood) and you can bring the plate-lickers (the four legged kind) the pub has a bus that would pick us up and then bring us back free, how good is that. Pub also has entertainment on friday nights, but if Clyde comes we will have our entertainment. Any-way if we get some feed-back from others on this would be good. Regards dosse.

Hi david,
Suits us. I think we might get a couple of new members there that weekend, as Greg in the purple jailbar at Helidon indicated they might be there with their Baravan. Hopefully he'll remember to email his contact details so I can give him the details.

Hi All I got back from the Variety bash last week and just got around to checking the site again. I'll see how I go about that weekend but it may be a last minute run with the teardrop as I am supposed to race at Noosa Hill Climb the following weekend. The good news is that I am going to do the Variety Bash again in 2 years so the Hunter wagon will be around as a tow car. Still looking for a small bondy as well if anyone hears of something Rod G.

Have to confirm that I won't make this run. The battle scars from the Variety bash (2700+ ks over 12 days) on the Hunter wagon have it needing some TLC before I can go away again. I am deginately planning the February run and hopefully the Hunter will have the Mazda motor then. I now have Wednesday off so will confirm Maroochydore then. I also saw some advertising for the Caloundra /Golden beach caravan park. Anyone tried there before ? Rod G.

G'day all Well, only 10 sleep's to go until our Canungra week-end. Some of the girl's have suggested that we have a Xmas theme... sound's good to us. If you can have Xmas in July why not in November. We will be having a secret santa, please don't spend more than $5.00 per gift, a male would buy a male gift and female would buy a female gift. If you are bringing children or grandchildren, just purchase your own gifts for your children and put their name on the gift. Now to cooking matters. Julie is going to do rum balls and rumor has it that Lyn Forman is making that special Christmas pudding we so enjoyed at Pottsville and my lovely wife Ilse is making Austrian vanilla kipfle. Can't remember who, but a Christmas cake was also mentioned. If anyone else has some favourite Christmas food, please feel free to bring it along. Any suggestions out there on what to do for our Saturday night dinner? A roast meal done in some camp ovens on an open fire, is one suggestion. Any camp ovens out there? Otherwise, please give some feedback on ideas of what to do. Now for a major decision....where to camp. The options are powered sites at the top of the camping grounds, (more in the open), or non powered sites around the edge of the creek, with the sounds of water running...we would have further to walk to the amenities...at least 100m or more though. We have been told by Mat and Suzanne that this is a very pretty spot. We would like to all be together for this occasion, as it is our last get-together for '08, so do we sacrifice power for beauty, peace and tranquility, or stay with the powered sites and close proximity to the amenities. At this stage, we have about 10 vans, with 3 or more maybe's. If you are thinking of joining us for this weekend and you havn't joined us before, you will be made very welcome. It will be a very relaxed weekend.
regards, Dosse

Hi dosse,
Our van is dependent on power for everything
Naturally we would prefer a powered site, but could make do if the majority want to go unpowered. As you said, not long to go. Boots gets home tomorrow night, I know she was involved in the discussions about christmas meals, so she can put her bit in later this week.

Hi all
Been so busy, heads down, butt up doing some major renos at home, and am happy to say I am on the home stretch. Almost missed this thread. Dosse, is it still OK to come - sounds like there would be enough room there, for one little Propert. Have a camp oven if needed too. Am happy to camp by the creek, as the van runs on 12 volt anyway. Sounds like a great way to swing into Christmas, and look forward to being there to catch up with y'all.

Hi David Camping by the creek would be our preference but we will go with the flow. At this stage we should be there Friday afternoon. Love the idea of a group meal & we have 3 camp ovens that we will bring. Reckon we will need a few roasts to feed everyone and we are happy to bring one of those - probably pork. Perhaps if everyone brings enough vegies to feed themselves & we can cook them together & serve as a group. How does that sound? Neil & Cheryl

Hi David, We had a look at the camp site last weekend. Very impressed, should be a great weekend. We will be coming with our two vans, also another Olympic from the Gold Coast. Our preference would be for powered sites as our daughter has a new baby. Camp oven dinner sounds great. Will bring a roast and camp ovens. Might be a suggestion for everybody to bring a small amount of firewood. Cheers, looking forward to meeting everyone. Bob.

Hi all, Sue will cooked a xmas cake We will be needing a powered site as we are not set up for non power. We do not own a camp oven so we can bring our Turbo oven to cook the roast in to share with all. Vegies in alfoil in the coals is good. Bring your santa shirt or hat whatever xmas stuff you may have. Well howdy all. Here is am up in sunny Mooloolaba, having a great time on holiday and generally enjoying myself. Due to go home on Thursday 6th, but then I thought - ooooohhh 9th S E Qld get together starts on 7th. I keep promising myself that I will go to one of the S E Qld get togethers one of these days. So perhaps it's worth trying to extend my trip and stay for a few more days and catch up with everyone. Uummmm what would I have to do to make that happen. ? Change flight Tell work I would be away a bit longer Talk Alan around to my way of thinking (he's still at home) Hire a car Find somewhere to sleep as our van is at home (I wonder if the caravan park has cabins??) Where is Canungra exactly - just looked on Whereis - bit of a hike from Mooloolaba. I think it's all getting a bit hard - the thought was there though. Might just look at the cost of changing my flight anyway !!!! Regards Di

Hi Di WOuld be great for you to come and see how the other half live! I am going down on Thursday arvo, and will have my 30 second Oztent (the one I had at Munmorh) with me. If you are by yourself, I have a single camp bed I can bring for you. If Alan is coming too, someone in the group may well have a double airbed they can bring along. The tent is private and should suite you quite well. The offer is there - pm me if you want to know more. Ray
