G'day All, Just posting a bit of van stuff from the USA that was on ebay over there recently. The first one caught my eye for the amazing restoration job they did on a 1948 ali van, and which had a buy-it-now price of the equivalent of $15600 Aussie dollars (...and we think some of our prices are high!!)... The second one was a 1928 Travel Trailer which sold for the equivalent of $604 of our dollars. Now this would turn some heads if it was being towed beside the tram lines down to St Kilda or Glenelg ! Note the wooden spoke wheels... cheers, Al.

Hi wildman, dont feel bad about polishing your van especially if it is the hard to polish up and down diamond shape pattern aluminium with high and low spots. Ive spent that much time on polishing my van and im still not finished that I could have painted 5 timber vans easily ....Im so looking foward to the easy job of painting my gypsy timber van in a weekend than polishing aluminum. The price of that polished yankee van reflects the labour in polishing it .Check out the US price for polishing www.revitalizedtrailers.com/prices.aspCheers Dave

The 1949 van sold for $12570 aussie dollars, this being the second time it was listed, with a reduction in the starting and buy-it-now prices. The original description was very very comprehensive, explaining every detail of the restoration. The second listing only carried a summarised version, as follows... "Vehicle Description - You are bidding on a 1949 Bellwood vintage travel trailer: Exterior: Acid washed and polished New marker lights and tail lights New door and window gaskets New tires (dayton wide whites) from Diamondback Classics New exterior locking handles Custom canvas awning with poles New LP tank Interior: New engineered cork flooring New carpet in all storage areas Ultra suede upholstery counter top and table Custom made diamond quilted backsplash New dimmable recessed halogen lighting, new halogen sconces New wiring Refurbished original "ice box" and two burner gas cook top Original sink, hardware and gas lamp Polished aluminum interior window trim New matchstick blinds Portable toilet housed beneath rear bed All original interior wood stripped and refinished All replaced wood finished to match original Included: Power supply cord Wheel chocks Leveling jacks New 110 ceramic oscillating heater Water inlet hose." Must have been done in a weekend blitz, eh?!! cheers, Al.

hi dave and wildmanaus i polished the diamond pattern ally on the roadmaster and it came up pretty good. it didn't have any pitting or serious corrosion though. i used soapy steel wool initially (only use the steel wool while the soap is still in it otherwise it scratches more deeply ) then followed up with car cutting compound then polish. i finished with car wax and now only re-do it with wax every 3 months or so. ;D ;D ;D well, i reckon it came up looking pretty good. geoff 'n jude
