QUEST HISTORY: to be compiled
posted by cusso57, Apr 11, 2007: Hi all, We are new to these threads & am looking for some info on 1966 quest van that we have just purchased, all we know at this stage is that they we made here in Adelaide at Taperoo. It has a 1966 electricity trust sticker on front window so we are presuming it is that model.

Photos showing the restored Quest caravan. Ron59 decided to put the aluminium cladding back on... Ron59 posted during the restoration: yes its an all timber frame, it looks like it started out as an original plywood van and then clad with aluminium at a later date. Why else would you go to the trouble of painting and striping the ply if you were gunna clad it with aluminium? Anyway the back and front windows leaked and rotted out all the timber frame and the ply from under the aluminium, so that all needs to be fixed and then the aluminium goes back on. I think its probably easier to polish the aluminium than sand and paint the ply.

Hi All, newb to this forum.
I have a Quest Trendsetter that I bought off my grandpa before he died.
My main quest, so to speak is to re-register it. It was last regoed in SA in 1988.
I am unable to find the 3 digit chassis number, any ideas where to look?

Internal photos of Woddaquest's 1967 Quest caravan posted by Quest76 on 22 March 2009:    Woddaquest described his van as follows: "It is a Quest 10 or 11 footer they told me ,it has an alloy roof the front and sides are moulded fibre glass very thin in the same pattern as most other vans with alloy sides, it has Quest also moulded into the front and rear panels".  The reason that the fibreglass is "...in the same pattern as most other vans with alloy sides..." is that Quest used aluminium cladding to make the moulds for the fibreglass. I don't know if anyone is interested, but while recently passing through Borrika in rural SA, I noticed an old caravan behind the Institute hall. Upon further inspection I found it was a Quest Swagman, with some old rego papers inside which suggested it may be a 1975 model. It was just the aluminium shell but windows seemed intact, a bit of wood paneling and lights inside. If someone wishes for the remainder of the rego details regarding possibly the last owner, let me know. Regards, Bob.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the acquisition of your caravan.
To post photos on the forum, you will need to do it via an online photo storage website, such as Photobucket (our recommended method) or Flickr. Unfortunately you can't use the 'Add Attachment' button - it doesn't operate on this forum. There are instructions on posting photos in the 'Forum Guidelines & Helpful Hints' section of the forum.
Once we've seen some photos of your van, hopefully we'll be able to give you an indication of its build date. However, we won't be able to help you much regarding value, because there is no real guide to values. In the case of vintage caravans, it all depends on what a buyer is willing to pay and what the seller is willing to accept, and there can be a number of factors that affect that.
In any case, let's start with the date of your van. As soon as you post some photos of your van we'll see what we can tell you.
