Sad news this morning with the passing of one of the forum’s most enthusiastic and active members, Firefighter. Many of us know Geoff through the moderating of this forum on my behalf, and his organising of the vintagecaravans Nationals events. Firefighter (Geoff) and Gaye were at the forefront of organising the vintage caravans Nationals in Mildura 2010, Cowra 2012, Brokern Hill 2014 and last year in South West Rocks NSW. Many of us have enjoyed and benefited from these great events and would agree that firefighter’s people and organisational skills made these events so well known and successful. Geoff also moderated this forum fairly, and enthusiastically assisted and encouraged new and existing members with their passion of vintage caravans. Geoff indeed lived up to his forum name "firefighter" by putting out many personality driven "fires" that broke out on this forum Geoff also is well known in classic car circles in Victoria and will be greatly missed by many people. Condolences to Gaye and family. RIP Geoff, Mark Taylor Founder: vintagecaravans.com

we have just read mark's post and we are absolutely shocked and at a loss to believe that geoff has passed away.
it's impossible to state the amount of work and effort geoff and gaye have put into assuring that this forum runs smoothly and how much he has contributed to events on the forum.
our thoughts and prayers go out to gaye and the family at this time.
he will be sadly missed by jude and me and we know that the forum will be the less for his passing.

What a shock to learn that we have lost Firefighter this morning.
Geoff joined this forum in August 2006, and as most of us know, was a passionate supporter of the vintage caravan movement. A year or two later he was invited to become a forum moderator, and invested enormous amounts of time in ensuring that this forum ran smoothly (and fairly), and that our Vintage Caravan Nationals were enjoyable, memorable and friendly events for all who attended. I could never quite work out where he got the time to do it all, because he was involved in several (at least) classic car clubs and would often comment that he was organising some event or another for one of them.
Behind the scenes Geoff was an incredible networker, and I would guess had more personal contact with members of the forum than just about any one else. Just mention a name and Geoff had talked to them at some point, very often in the last week! With the networking came compassion and a desire to help people whenever he could. And all that extended well beyond the vintage caravan community.
From a personal point of view, and as a fellow 'worker' on and for the forum, I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with Geoff, and to learn from him. The late night phone calls from Geoff - often commencing with "I see you're on the forum..." - have been a feature of the life of our household, and will be missed, as will his steady hand on the steering wheel when the forum was avoiding some potholes or rocks on the road.
If you've talked to Geoff at all, chances are that you'll have quickly discovered that his family - Gay, his kids and his grandchildren - were much more important to him, and central to his life, than even his Chevs and the Roadhaven. Geoff is a loss to us, but theirs is the bigger loss and grief by far, and as others have said in their posts today, we extend our sympathy and support to them.

It's a sad day today, that we have lost our good friend Geoff.
Our family have know both Geoff and Gay for more than twenty years being involved in the old car movement and in recent years with the vintage caravan movement.
Our recent travels with both Geoff and Gay travelling together to the nat's and recently to Wangaratta have been wonderful with many laughs, bakeries, coffees, meals and junk shops. Many great memories for us to treasure.
Our thoughts are with Gay and family at this sad time and we send our sincere condolences.
The Moparman family.

We are very sorry and saddened to learn of Geoff’s passing today and wish to extend our sympathy and thoughts to Gaye and his family. We have been fortunate to have some insight into the behind the scenes work Geoff has contributed to the vintage caravan movement. The successes of the previous Vintage Caravan Nationals and the Mexican Runs have been testament to this. Geoff has already laid the foundations for the 2018 Nationals in Wangaratta and we would like to think that whilst Geoff will not be there in person his spirit will now be watching over us. Whenever I click on my bookmarks to see what's happening on the VV forum, I expect to see the latest posts about what people have done to their vans, or what people are selling or buying...stuff like that. What I DON'T expect to see is a thread about the loss of one of this forum's great people. When I read Mark's post at the start, I had to walk away from my computer shaking my head..."This can't be possible!" I mean, this guy Geoff was part of the VV furniture...somebody who would just always be around forever...taking care of forum business in the most efficient and friendliest way possible. Nothing ever seemed to be too much trouble for him to sort out, and whenever I contacted him privately for a bit of help with something, he was always willing to do what he could for me.
I am shocked and saddened to read this news, and I shall miss his involvement in this forum greatly. I join all the others in sending my sincere condolences to Gay and his family.
Al.

This is a shock, I don't know what to say. Just as many other people have also said, I was talking to Geoff just a few days ago about forum stuff, and other things. He was the "go to man" if there were any problems or you just wanted to have a chin wag, and he was a "doer", and he was a good mate, we are going to miss him.
Sincere condolences to you Gaye and the rest of the family.
Cobber Bob & Yvonne.
