Hey there all . Im wondering if you can tell me should I have moulding around the wheel arch of the van? do I need it? or is having it purely cosmetic. I have been trying to find something suitable but so far have not been able to source anything the correct size. Scoot

G'day Scootman, Your question must have really stumped the experts on this site!! It's now 2 weeks and nobody's given you any info...so maybe this part of a caravan is where all the really secretive stuff lies. As an amateur V V-er, I can only say that there are no mouldings on either of the vans I've got, so my short answer is "no", they are not required. I've seen photos of other vans where they have put 'spats' over the wheel arch to make it look fancy, but that would only be for cosmetic reasons. My guess is that providing you have sealed the bottom edge of the plywood properly, then anything else you add along there will not make much difference. ps. Got any cheap bananas up in your neck of the woods? Still can't afford them down here... ;D cheers, Al.

Why thanks for that Al. I certainly appreciate your input. I think what I will do is wait until I have put the J moulding on the rest of the van and see what I want to do then. spats sound and look great so thats a definate maybe. Re the bananas? well I saw B1 and B2 walking the streets of anusvaile. woops I mean innisfail the other day and they were offering themselves for about 5 bucks a go. To be honest the new crop has come so there shouldnt be a shortage but like the cost of fuel, once it goes up it never goes down. I Wish I could say that about certain parts of myself. But would probably be banished from the site for doing so. Thanks again Scoot

The leg or top half of the J goes to the front/roof/back so that the base of the J forms a half round on the side of the van. Make sure you fill the base of the J with a quality sealant to further protect the edges of the ply from water. Until you get used to fitting it, I suggest you start of by temporarily fitting it before filling it with sealant, otherwise it can be a bit messy. Greg
