Me...back again... [ Who left the bluddy door open?!] I've started to delve into the back structure of the van (what a stoopid thing to do!), and came up with the following... So I now need to replace a few bits of timber... I need your thoughts on: 1). Recommended timber species 2). Recommended method for bending said timber ...have all the tools, have all the time, have most of the skills (plus son is a carpenter)... just need your experience! Any help appreciated. Also have a couple of other shots just to fill in space... Well Done on the other Quiz, reddo and humpty2! Hoping others will have a go as well. Will write full names of Stawell athletes here... Richard Driscoll Sally Schmitzer Damien Campbell Maybe they'll google their own names one day (soon I hope) and this thread will pop up... that'd be spooky for them, eh? (ps. Jim... did you get my PM relating to another thread? Need your input about retrofitting brakes) That's it for me tonight folks... cheers, Al.

Hi Al, Retro's pretty cluey on this type of repair, i basically made an exact copy of any piece i removed using what was left of the rotten piece as a template. There was little i could'nt copy, you'll probably remove a lot more than you'd expect as i did. The good part is putting it all back together.I just used a good quality exterior grade ply 5.5ml. thick and litrally soaked it in diluted bondcrete to seal it both before and after it was bent. Marine ply's another option but dearer, there's more on the subject under one of the headings in the forum As for bending i just glued and screwed as i bent which as i found out is common, but the more hands on deck the better P.S. A boatbuilder put me onto a glue by selleys called durabond, magic stuff i found, sticks like s--- , both surfaces have to be moistened prior to glueing
All the best Al, she's a great van Kingy
