G'day All, At the recent Vintage Nationals, a theory was put forward that "Mirra" brand sinks have a number stamped on them that relates to the year the sink was manufactured. I'd like to explore this theory and see if it holds water. The only two examples so far are both in Franklin caravans - and both are 1969 models, one a Freeway and the other a Mini. The "Mirra" stamp is on the front of the sink, as circled... ...and a close-up of the stamp shows a "Reg. Design" number with a number after a slash ( / ) mark (as arrowed)... The theory is that the number after the slash mark is the year of manufacture of the sink (in this case 9 = 1969). I have no idea how far and wide these Mirra sinks were used in the caravan industry, but if you happen to have one in your van, could you post some info about whether that last number bears any resemblance to the year you think your van was made? cheers, Al.

Hi Franklin1 and other Mirra sink owners, Mirra is still around - click here. I wonder if they can throw any light on the numbers on your sinks, and whether the number on some of them indicates a year? On the other hand the people who would know are probably long gone, and those that are there now will probably be surprised to hear that back in the day they used to produce caravan sinks at all!
