Was actually a 240v zap Mustang! I think one of the wires was in contact with the tin & that's why it got me. I thought that bakelite switch didn't do anything but it obviously let the electrickery into those loose wires. Pretty stupid of me really.

You have to be highly intelligent and very switched on to play around with those electrons The van is looking great and the couch/ bunk is a great addition. How did you go with the roof Did yo get some waterproof membrane on it ? Just been to Deloraine again for the long weekend here Can't stay away from the place !! Cheers Andtew

The new tape went on a treat, Waterproofing membrane not so successful Tried sanding, Now trying to remove which is proving very difficult On a lighter note, the wiring is done & safety switch installed. Even let me keep my bakelite inlet socket

I used a heat gun and a good scraper. The problem that I had was that someone had redone the roof with a shade cloth, rather than calico. Bunnings have good cheap ones. Mike

Wow you really are having fun ah! When I membraned the Jenno I lightly sanded the canvas then applied it thickly with a roller and it stuck like brown stuff to a blanket What went wrong?

It came up all rough & gravelly. I thinks because it was a 2 part compound. Perhaps we should have left the 2nd component out. Bruce is keen to have another go without mixing it but I'm not so sure. I think I'd rather just paint it.

Noooo! Source this!! It's what I used and is water based and rated for exterior! Went on with roller and when dry sanded smooth ( carefully) then two undercoats to smoth it out Then topcoats All water based otherwise it will crack . You have to make sure original surface is sanded and clean Check out Jenno thread I did the whole hatch but only needed to patch the rest . It'll work perfect with your tape as the thick and stretches If you need me to send you some let me know !

Andrew, I tried to get this stuff but the nearest stockist is Sunbury. Going to look into a waterproof undercoat later today. It's not like the van will be outside for any length of time. Here is my waterproofing safety electrical device! Oh dear, I just noticed the electrician used Phillips head screws !

This was the product we used, plenty left if anyone wants to buy it! Anyway, all removed & have undercoated with this; Available at Bunnings but you will have to go look for it, they kept trying to sell me something from the bathroom section with the same name of Crommelin but this is what you need & it is in the paint section. My retired builder (who helps me out with the tricky bits), brought this tool out to show me, says it was used for stretching canvas on bus roofs.

First coat of roof done I know I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here, but have started to make curtains. With re-painting the inside, what should I do to make the new paint stick without it going all ghost like?

Coming along nicely. We are feeling the pain re the amount of painting. Interested in the water tank and pump set up. Need to look to see if we can put in something similar for ours as we have a lovely blue sink but no water. Keep up the great work.

I've finished the inside Andrew but am too nervous to tackle the outside as yet, if I muck it up it's a bit hard to fix! Mr SGTL started on the dolly wheel Front window re lined & hardware installed few little details, couldn't find dome headed nickel plated brass screws big enough, pan heads will be temporary or I'll fill the holes & start again. Have to fill the old 2nd ones anyway, original handles beyond restoration.

That's a very good question. I'll have a look at the packet the pan head came out of & get back to you.
