Good afternoon Everyone I'm needing some help in identifying some hardware for the awnings that once adorned our girl Lannie. Your expert advice would be sincerely appreciated. This is the original (and only) piece of the original canvas we have. Somehow there was a rod that went from the clip on the side of the van to the hole in the end of the rod in the window awning. Does anyone recognise this setup? We'd really love to use the clips again, but need to know where to start, if having to make new struts. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedThank you, once again. Miranda

G'day Miranda, Not having much success with your question, hey?! Stop asking the hard ones, heh heh. I'm not familiar with the actual stays that might have been used on your van, but I'm thinking they might have looked something like this example... Instead of the ball on the outer end, you would have a flat section perhaps, with a hole and a screw that goes into the end of the rod that's sewn in the canvas, or maybe the brass rod is bent at a right-angle at the outer end and feeds into the hole in the canvas rod. Does any of that make sense? cheers, Al.

cobber, if I crop and enlarge a section of Alan Stevens' Don caravan, it appears to show the outer end of the stay as being bent at right angles and pushed into the end of the canvas rod... I guess if the diameter of the top and bottom holes in the bracket is the same as the diameter of the hole in the end of the canvas rod, that would indicate to me that the stay is designed to fit into both. cheers, Al.

Wow! Thank you all for your response - your knowledge is gold! It seems so simple now that I look at the photograph of the Roadmaster. We might be able to make them ourselves. Yay!!
