NSW 2014 Runs and Events.... if any

Hi

With all the excitement and focus being on the Vintage Caravan nationals at Broken Hill in April/May this year , and, .... a few other smaller events around the same time of year, there has been little thought given to any other NSW runs later in the year .
Ok... I appreciate that the Nats is going to drain a lot out of everyones piggy banks and it is a big hike out there and back. Will leave a lot of people "Jet lagged " and all "Vanned out" for a while after the event.
However........That is no excuse not to get our act together and come up with a few Vintage van "weekender" destinations ...
"The Greens" sort of raised the issue a month ago on a different thread here on the forum... Central coast short runs 2014.

Traditionally we have had ..

A May weekend at Munmorah....Not possible anymore due to new owners !!!... and this year ... close to the Nats... so it will probably be left off the calander... or will it..has anyone got a "hot Spot" in mind. Have a think / have a say!!

Christmas in July... Forster last year... do you want to go back there??.. or...has someone got another venue in mind... campfire would be nice... or maybe back up to Katoomba...Come on have a think/have a say

Gresford ... we had a good time there... who needs electricity !!!.. campfire with a camp oven cook off at night.. vineyard visits during the day......kiss a cow !!!... come on.. have a think/have a say

Coledale ... October... it limps on.... no Norm this year... but norm doesn't have to be there to have a good time!!!... Do we wipe it off the slate and find another beach side venue.... Avoca Beach /Central Coast ??... Have a think / have a say!!!

A mini tour around the hunter valley on October long weekend.... Cessnock. Denman, Scone, Muswellbrook , maitland....

So....... have I sparked any sort of enthusiasm from you bunch of NSW layabouts....... Good... I hope so

Hi Reddo Good to read someone is trying to get some smaller events happening thru the year.
Christmas in July.
Doing a bit of homework myself just a suggestion. Dennis and self always like to catch up with VV friends
down south. I am sure there would be like minded people up here that would feel the same.

How about we make a destination fair in distance travel for all so we can get together.
I Googled South West Rocks Tourist park.
Of peak dogs are allowed. Powered $35. Unpowered $28.00. According to Travel mate from here 5hrs, from Sydney 5hrs
Newcastle 4hrs. Thats do able.

Forster was a nice place. Good company, but been there done that and it is a fair hike for Northerners.
Camp fires sound great,So if anyone else has suggestions that would be great,just try to equal out the
Travelling distance for all.

He is in the next suburb over from me... its a wander he hasn't spotted me out and about with a van on ??

SWR is sweet with me. will leave the organizing until after the Nats and the Snowys Tour.
As I said before... people will be a bit "stunded " after the Nats and no point hounding people for commitment to book and attend just yet.......
But we will definitely put SWR up as this years "Christmas in July"... Great Town.. with a great club for meals etc.

The park in town is ... in my opinion better, than out below the gaol.

Perhaps he - or she - has seen you out and about and is trying to track you down...

...alternatively, since you change cars and vans fairly regularly, maybe he - or she - has seen you out about and has come to the conclusion that there is a humungous big V V'ers club in the suburb next to them, and is trying to join up!

Count us in for SWR...like Reddo says, its a great place & heaps to do...old jail, best lighthouse in NSW(!), The park in town is in a fantastic setting right on the beach, close to shops & clubs & also dog friendly...

The Park Sue mentioned would be perfect for a future Nats...big camp kitchen, 150 powered sites but bit further from shops & beach.

What about Xmas in July on the June long weekend for SWR?

Hey Reddo and Cathie thank you for Caravan Park suggestions at SWR. I will make some inquiries.
I personally feel June is to soon after Nationals and smaller runs, as it is going to be an expensive
but enjoyable journey to which I am so looking forward to .Only 74 more sleeps before we hit the road.

School resumes July 14th so any time after that for SWR would be good.
I hear what you say Reddo about no plans to be put in place until after the Nats.But my thoughts are
some people are not attending the Nats or any other organised runs,and having a few dates set allows
you to plan ahead,and have it pinned on the Vintage Caravan 2014 events calendar.

Looking at Calendar July weekend 19th- 20th or 26th-27th. for SWR. ??

Did I mention 74 more sleeps until we hit the road for the Nationals.

Hi Reddo

SWR sounds good, I certainly prefer to go somewhere new. We stopped at Jimmy's Beach after Forster last year and thought it was a great spot, lots of trees, close to the beach, all brand new facilities including camp kitchen and nearby fire pit, with seating and wood. We shared it with about 6 other vans! If Xmas in July moves more norther then Jimmy's might be an alternative to Munmorah.
