I have a carapark superb model 12ft 9 inch built in 1956.
I have carefully removed all the paint on the aluminium walls without scratching the metal. I removed the roof panels, cleaned them thoroughly using a wire brush on an electric drill then etch primered them and re-riveted them - applying proper roofing clear silicone on the mating surfaces before assembly. I used a wire brush on an angle grinder to clean ALL the steel chassis to shiny bare metal before zinc painting the lot.
It has 3 new 6.00 x 16 tyres and tubes - on 6 stud chevy patern rims - also zinc painted.(I have the original alloy centre hub caps)
I removed the interior as the roof had leaked in places, but still have all the cupboard doors with handles and hinges on etc and the aluminium trim for joining the interior panels.- hence the only bits i threw away were sectional timber and worktop which can easilt be replaced - i even kept the curved end piece for the kitchen bench. - so could be fitted out as per original design if desired without too much trouble - or these parts stored and fitted out in a more modern style as i intended to do.
There is also enough 16mm plywood to cover the floor. The 9mm original ply floor is in place (I painted both sides but it has some damage in places) I had to cut it (only in line with the wheel arches) to remove it and get access to prepare the chasis - and enough 3mm ply to line the inside walls / ceiling.
I also purchased 8ft x 4ft sheets of 35mm thick white polystyrene which should be enough to insulate all walls and ceiling.
I am posting this thread because I might have to sell it - but I do not mean make me a tyre kicker type offer!
Serious offers only please from enthusiasts that will appreciate this caravan.
It has not been registered or on the road since the early 70s
I have done all the hard preparation work which took ages, it was extremely dirty, hard painfull work and cost a considerable amout too - typical that circumstances look like they will prevent me from doing the easy enjoyable part of the restoration and having the chance to travel with it.
It is located in NSW - Inverell
I do not own a truck to transport it for you so you would have to arrange your own means of transport.
If you wish to reply either to make an offer or just to get in touch generally then feel free to do so via this thread initially.
I wish to avoid spammers etc..
happy caravanning
