Hi "The osbornes and thier Alvis" We have a few regulars on this forum with Pommie two cars. Belinda has an Austin 1800. Don has an Austin ( I think). I have grown up surrounded by my brothers racing MG TC , a MG Tickford drop head coupe and an MGB GT. I am up to my armpits in pommy motorbikes but have always played with Holden cars ... about to venture into Ford land with a 1956 F100. I take it that when you say you will get there in the Tuesday PM you are talking about Morgan. We have reserved a stack of powered sites from easter monday lunch time to thursday. Go back to page one of this thread to pick up on whats doin. There is 3 vans travelling from NSW. Linking up with 3 or 4 others from around Victoria at Robinvale on sunday night and heading to Morgan on Easter monday. Should rock in about lunchtime. Add to this about 4 or 5 ? from W.A and a few from S.A and we should have a ball. Hope to see yas there with the Alvis.... cooool. Reddo

Hi Reddo & everyone. Glad to see you have missed us. We are reading all this & weeping . We were going to try and make it, but we were only over that way in September and John just can't get away with any more holidays. Daniel & John have just been down the van and dreaming. They were at Morgan having a good time with everyone. They didn't even miss me!!! Have a great time all. and please have a beverage or two for Ticko's. See some of you at Munmorah in May. Ticko's

Hallo Everyone! Thanks everyone for the welcome to the trip. We plan to be at Morgan by late afternoon on Tuesday. We booked one of the reserved sites - Linda knew all about it. I noted that you were looking at Burra and some were in fear of their plastic taking a bashing! Not a bad place to visit, with lots of olde shops an done that does nice coffee. You are not too far from Clare. The actual town does not have too much to look at, but down the road there is the Seven Hills Winery - monks making nice booze! Also, near to Clare is Martindale Hall, near Mintaro. They made some of the film "Picnic at Hanging Rock" there. You can go round for $7 I think. Nearby is a small cafe place but a pub called the Magpie Stump is pretty good - meals are about $12 and were good. We've just got ourselves some new sleeping bags and a liner to go over the mattress pieces, so we hope we will sleep OK BR Mike and Mary O

G’Day M & M, After Morgan, Clare Valley is where I am heading. I have for a long time been a collector of anything to do with C.J. Dennis so I must go to Laura and then work my way through “The boyhood towns”.
Did Linda mention how many sites had been booked by the Vintage caravan nuts??

Hallo Cobber, When we booked, there were just two sites left, before we made ours. She just said there was block booking. I did not ask how many were originally reserved. Clare Valley is a nice trip- Auburn is worth a stop. Pub there called the Rising Sun is reckoned to be OK, but might be pricey as it's on the main tourist drag. Further south, there's Tarlee which has a great antique shop that also does food. A bit further down is Rhynie (?) where there is a pub that has meals at a good price. I note some have talked about going down as far as Hahndorf. This is a great area but a fair run into the Adelaide Hills. Weather can be cold and foggy if you are unlucky I was hoping the chap who had built the repro tear drop, Ray Mossop might be along to join us as his father actually made our old Broadway van. See you soon, BR Mike and Mary

Hi loveshack I for one am really glad to hear you and the W.A crew are headin over. After all it was you that really started the ball rolling after the original idea was bounced around about "meeting in the middle"with suggesting somewhere around the Morgan area and then goin the extra yards and booking 20 sites. JBJ, cobber and me are gunna get away from sydney by about 9.00am Saturday. Sounds like we are all gunna hit town about the same time on Monday. Poor locals wont know what struck 'em. Cant wait to see the fargo. there is a bloke over here with a Golden fleece tanker he tows with a fargo. Big, Bold and Beeeeeuuuatttttiiifffffuuuulllll. I posted a pix some time back under tow cars. Anway W.A... cant wait to have a"great Bend of The Elbow" with you lot and wash down some of those highway bugs Cheers Reddo & son Joel.

Thursday Update JBJ thundered up my drive just on dark wednesday arvo in the rod. smoke pouring off it. New rubber rocker gasket covers leakin everywhere. He rorted losing a towing mirror off the left side on the hwy... never broke... lucky. Also an alloy diff centre cover decided top part company near johns river. A by standed directed JBJ into the giigle weeds and he managed to retrieve that as well. I got the radiator in the EK ute and took matilda for a waltz. lot heavier van than just Cruisin. Ute towed it ok at 60 mph but struggled on long slow climbs. end result we are tackin' the red landcrab.. A/C, C.D, P/S, turbo and garaunteed to keep up the pace all day. Got a call from cobber late morning. Will has landed. The van he was to pick up at the auto electricians hadn't been worked on so he is canning the idea of Narrandera and coming with us east coasters on saturday. Cobber also reports Tucky has got engine probs in Adelaide so he is gunna get that sorted and catch us sunday night at robinvale....... The best made plans of men and mice....... and we havent even left home yet. God knows what he has in store for me and cobber. Might get there for Morgan 2010. Meanwhile two more sleeps ( if thats possible) before we hit the bitch o mine. Breaking news: Tooheys New Stubbies ... today only....2 cartons for $59. ... OOOo jeeez i might have to take the ute to fit the P#ss in. Cheer all. Reddonlythegoodieyoung

Correction: Will's van at the auto elecs and being worked on, and was ready upon his arrival, AND said auto elec performed instant repair on Will's F100 tail lights. Will and Lyn extremely happy with the service and their cool new van. The Dean family very happy with card, Easter eggs and bottle of wine - thanks Will and Lyn, you shouldn't have. Happy travels, and enjoy Morgan. ;D

Tonight I have just returned from Morgan I've just spent the last 4 days with the greatest bunch of people I have met in years. The weather was perfect and all the vans were wonderful. I first would like to thank everyone who traveled the distances to meet in the middle and secondly need to thank the Morgan caravan park for their warm hospitality. The tours we went on,the sites we saw and the new friends we all made will be talked about for years. Some of the vanners are moving on to Barmera for a hotrod show in which I'll be going to to catch up with them again. Over the next few weeks as everyone gets home you are going to see some amazing pictures and hear some funny stories, so keep a close look at this link as it will become very entertaining. I for one can't wait for the next "Meet in the middle" I'll be posting more later as I have to download over 300 pictures in which I'll post some of the good ones Cheers RETRO PS I'm home safely RETRO MUM

Hallo Retro, Great to hear you got home OK. We made it back to Ardossan by 2 pm on Friday, with some rain along the way. One snag- we stopped at Blyth and ended up buying a nice wooden table from a guy who makes furniture! Still, it made the wife happy and I am on my way to getting enough brownie points so as to get some wire wheels for the Alvis.
But what a week! Just a couple of week ago you were all just names on the forum that I was still trying to master. Now we have a great bunch of friends all over Australia. BR, Mike, Mary and of course Molly

Hi all It was great to meet such a terrific bunch of people at Morgan and be able to put faces to names and nicknames. And such an awesome display of vans and vehicles puts vintage caravans fairly and squarely on the map and ensures they are here to stay. Our trip over to Morgan was rushed as Cathie had work commitments Monday night shift and today (Sat), so we travelled light. It was a case of better late than never and we only had the one night there. As I write this, the guys heading back to Perth will probably be somewhere between the border and Coolgardie. I hope they are all travelling well and Mark doesn’t have any glitches with the van he bought (sight unseen) in SA and is towing back to Perth with his HD Holden. I also hope Reddo got his transmission fixed ok yesterday (Frid) – He had a bit of trouble with it on the way over. As to which van or rig is the most impressive, that’s too tough to call. You'd have to be gamer than a cat wandering through a dog compound to single out just one. No doubt there will be lots of pictures and stories in the next few weeks about the event, so here’s just one picture of the group. Not everyone is in it but other photos will ‘catch’ more, I’m sure – if it’s ever possible to get everyone in a group photo! It’s fabulous that people are willing to put the time and effort into travelling such long distances to meet up and to all who made the journey- thank you.
