Thanks for the generous offer Will This decision isnt entirely about money. Just coming down off a bit of a high and headin into a slump fellas. Vintage vans, cars, bikes .... hobbies have me living beyond my means. I need to pull my head in a bit. and start budgetting a bit smarter . also need to work on family committments as well. I know the Morgan getogether will probably be a "one off " event for most of us and i should make very attempt to get there. A month can make a hellava difference. I will hold off cancelling my site for a few weeks and see if i can fill the porcelain pig with $100 notes. Also work on restocking the brownie points with SWMBO.........if ya get my drift . There is somethings in life that i just cant make jokes about.... money and marriage are two of them. reddo

Reddo
That is a very generous offer from Will. A lesser man would take up his offer, so we know you won’t. It certainly shows the caliber of people on here.
Years ago a mate of mine used to describe (about me) what’s probably happening to you, as..
“Sliding down the razor blade of life and you come across a serrated bit on the blade”
We all indulge our passions a bit too much now and then and don’t realize it until we find that the round thing we just pulled out of the piggybank isn’t a coin, it’s the bung in the bottom. Brownie Points at home are very important.. as you say. I often wonder why women put up with men at all…
A lot of people will be disappointed if you can’t make it to Morgan – not that anyone wants you to get a swelled head about it of course… although.. maybe.. someone has built a “Bondwood Reddo Altar” to celebrate you being the first to obtain god status! (shit, I hope not, they don’t make halos big enough to fit if that happened!)
You’ll miss the opportunity to have a beer at the longest bar in the world, on the way over to Morgan, at the Mildura Workingman’s Club.. (check Guiness)
It’s not quite my type of club anymore (it’s probably gone a bit upmarket since it was formed), but you can get in as a visitor and certainly worth the visit. The bar is awesome, well worth a look and a beer. Maybe you could bless it while you’re there..?
Besides, it gives you bragging rights about having put a boot up on the longest brass rail that fronts the longest bar in the world and you’ve checked your aim with the spittoons.
How about taking a bike and a swag – that should help with costs.. There would be plenty of annexes or spare spots to kip down at Morgan (as long as you don’t fart a lot while you’re asleep). Ok, no van, but life is often about compromise isn’t it…

Hi Jim There is a few transport options open to me once i overcome the GIRL FACTOR . depending on financial state of affairs . They are listed from poorest to richest options. 1. I ride over on the Vintage Norton with Vintage swag lashed onboard. This would be the cheapest option ( although hardly vintage van content) providing the bike doesnt blow up or i get runoff the road >:(by the constant stream of old holdens and fords towing Vint vans to Morgan. 2. Drive over in the FJ Van without the caravan ... hey ..it is a vintage van and i can sleep in the back of it so technically i am acceptable at a vint van rally. 3. ( This was the prefered option) Tow Matilda behind the toyota (20mpg )and rest easy knowing the toyota will lug the van there and back no sweat. 4. This would be great if i could trust the FJs cooling system. Tow The van .. with the FJ Pvan... Note: this option would be the most expensive . Meanwhile i have shone the torch in the coin hole in the pig and i cant see the rubber bung . its covered in coins . This is a good sign , it indicates that i am banking. I noticed another shaft of light coming from the rear of the pig between its legs just below the pigtail. i thought to myself...... reddo makes it to Morgan??? Pigs Ars*.........!!!

I thought this thread was to be discussing MORGAN 2006 run. I have noticed the problem with most of the people on this thread is that you have to discuss everything that is not related to the run itself. If you have to talk about other stuff don't bore everyone else with your own personal crap and send them an email or personal message or put it in a relevant thread or start a new thread. I've noticed that Humpty has already addressed this quickly and no-one has bothered to read it..............
I came on to this site to learn about this run and other caravan information and have to read about things that are totally not related.
[glow=red,2,300] KEEP THIS THREAD MORGAN RELATED[/glow]

Dear guest (or phantom poster) I do not like the undercurrent There are two postings that do not relate directly to Morgan Now that you have decided you have taken over as the site convenor join and put your details forward (now)for all of us to see in fact I dont believe you are a guest we are an extremely close knit group that care about the other members well being and if we can help them over some difficult periods financially or emotionally then thats what I and 99% of the other members will do for instance I am picking up a rare 60s van in NSW and one of the members has has contacted me of his own back after hearing I had purchased the van travelled to see to look at it checked the van taken photos offered to take it to his home arrange repairs until I can pick it up before I go to Morgan see (Morgan related ) And the bloke you are talking about who is not only possibly the most popular bloke on this site is only human like the rest of us incidently he also has taken the time to go out of his way to travel and do a thorough check on another van for me about two months ago this site is expanding like wildfire because Mark and Jenny get it right be prepared to be shot down in flames when you shout on this forum my thoughts are if you dont like what you read or are jealous of the staunch bond that we have on this site then bugger off!!!!! Hang on guys The stuff you are posting is correct but let everyone have their opinion (be it wrong or right) but don't forget that other people read this too..... The last thing we need is to be seen bitching about others. Doing runs is about having a good time and I started this page "Morgan 2006 run"to sort out some of the confussion. The run to Morgan will be a hit and regarding the Morgan run by the river ( pardon the pun) Build a bridge and get over it LOL ;D ;D My only thoughts on it all is to keep it simple Cheers retro1

Hi All I kinda wander what happened to the original "Morgan " Thread. It was called "Meet in the middle" and had all the history on the run right from the original conception all the way through suggestions like Ularu and then on down into S.A and other towns around Morgan. Eventually settling on Morgan. Loveshack was on the ball and contacted Morgan Caravan park originally booking about 20 sites. back about then it got nicknamed " The Great Bend of the Elbow" but it was always gunna be "Meet in the Middle... at Morgan" There was about 3 pages on this thread then a fresh thread was started by Retro called "Morgan Run". and that seems to be where any posts have been logged since. I didn't really understand why we had to start up another Morgan thread but i just went with the flow. After all it doesnt matter a rats what its called as long as we know where to look for updates on whos leavin when and whos travelling with who, etc, etc. If feel that people have the right to discuss any issue related to trip. whether it be about gettin there, bein there, whats happening at the rod nationals after Morgan or the trip home.... To me , its all relevant.. If the guest doesnt like, it he can do as anyone would do at a library..... If ya dont like what ya readin .... Shut the bloody book , put it back on the shelf, Walk out the door and find something else to do with thier life rather than whinge about the script and its author. If we have to think twice about the bloody thought police and contravening some sort of "Netiquette" before hitting the keyboard then the site will wither and die. "Geez Louise"... i'm glad this clown isnt hangin around the technical section. Any poor bugger that replied with a wrong answer would have been shot out of the sky. Oh ... and by the way. Dont let me see anyone stickin stuff on here that they have spotted on eBay.... What the hell has eBay got to do with vintage vans....... . Just kiddin folks but its easy to see how things can degenerate or be erroded just because someone gets a bee in the bonnet about something. . As for the posts ... Keep it light, keep it simple and most of all keep em comin. Reddo

OOOOO Jeeezz ... i dunno Col. This is border line stuff we are discussin here . However i have discussed it with my solicitor and he feels that your topic does pertain to the weekend at Morgan and i should be able to reply to you without contravening the forum 'terms of engagement" ;D ;D ;D. Another generous offer from a REGULAR FORUM MEMBER just goes to confirm what Will, JBJ and others where sayin about what close knit bunch of enthusiasts/ friends we have on this forum. No wander so many guests decide to become members. If the guests are fortunate enough to get away for a weekend with some of these people they will soon realise what a great bunch of people they have got involved with ;D Yep.... I used to have a tent similar ( but newer )than the one you are offering. It had an aluminium frame and the entry/front annexe had elastic around the edge of it. Idea being that you slipped this section over the back of your Kombi or panelvan. sleep in the car and party/eat in the tent/ cook outside. about 6 ft high . one side of the tent section had a window the other had a mesh wall that unzipped to allow exit . i noticed one of the wagons ( HD Holden???) at the victorians recent weekend away had a roof mounted tent. ... No good for the FJ they have no gutters to mount the thing. Anyway Col .... thanks for the offer of the tent. will let you know a week or two before Morgan what i am doing. Still a no go at the mo... reddo.

Hi Kaybee At the risk of being called a tour organiser or camp captain i will express my thoughts on where to and how far is enough for each days drive. I personaly can sit in a car until the wheels fall off each day , but considering we are dragging our house on rubber piers along behind us i tried to divvy the trip up into 2 and a bit days travelling. I used travelmate www.travelmate.com.au/Home/Home.asp?TM_Page=HomeTo come up with the following Day 1_ Barnsley to Grenfell - 483K - about 6 1/2hrs Day 2 - Grenfell to Robinvale (Vic on the murray) 574K - about 6.6 hours Day 3 - Robinvale to Morgan - 349K - about 4.36hours keep in mind these times quoted are driving hours quoted on travelmate. Gotta factor in P stops , eats and Ford breakdowns , Photo sessions, Jumping fences to investigate that old van/bike/car/boat/bus/truck/tractor/woman up the paddock, etc ,etc My guess is We can't get on site at Morgan until after about 11.00am ,so there is no rush on Monday to get there. If you and the missus wanna come up to Robinvale and camp sunday night then cruise on over with me/us ( Dunno what the rest of us east coasters think of my thoughts) on Monday, or maybe catch us mid morning monday as we sail across the top side of Mildura headin for Morgan.. comments please ... JBJ, cobber, Will and anyone else headin out of Vic or NSW . As i said at the start i dont want to be the one that calls the shots here. Far as i am concerned there is no chiefs here just a bunch of "heckawee" friendly indians ( Another hang over from F troop cobber ... sorry mate) Its gotta be a happy decision from all of us if we are gunna travel like a big earth worm down the road together.. The other thing to keep in mind is it will be easter and if we plan on stoppin in van parks , especially if ya need a powered site on saturday or sunday night we better get our thoughts together and book a few sites somewhere. Me i dont give a rats A. Unpowered is cool with me and most van parks have a few acres to slot you onto for the night. If i cant get into a park you will find me down beside the nearset bridge with a fishin line in one hand and a stubby in the other. Its over to you lot now.

Onya Kaybee
Thanks for organising that. From what i can remember of Robinvale it is only a small town but the van parks are nestled on the banks of the murray under big shady trees. Bonus: There is a pub within staggering distance just up above the park ... again from memory.
OK the rest of you east coasters do ya want me to do some research and organise a group booking at a van park in Grenfell on saturday night. Earth to cobber and Will...Do you read me..... Come in cobber and Will.

Howdy east coast contingent Things are really coming together this morning I have just booked 5 powered sites at Grenfell caravan park for saturday 15/4. (redman) go here for a bit of info on Grenfell. www.lisp.com.au/grenfell/ the park is on the west side of town. Only has 22 sites and is a council owned park. Bob the caretaker was happy to just take a tentative group booking and we pay on the day. but if ya wanna square up with him in advance you can. Sites are $15 for "Cobber type" pensioners and $17 for us young blokes . Price covers 2 adults and 2 billy . lids. Phone number is 02 63431194. Too easy Have google searched the van park and the only complaint found was that it is on the main road ( arent most van parks) out of town. Lets hope the semis have the night off. Wanda should i do a search on pubs in Grenfell? ;D ;D Naaa ... a coupla stubbies at camp should be enough to knock me out . I love it when a plan comes together. Reddontblamemeifitsnoisey

Hi cobber we get to Sydney around 7 am I pick the F100 up at around 9 am from villawood and head to tims place at wentworth falls tim has kindly arranged to pick up the van and arrange an auto spark to check the electrical wiring my phone is 0405514409 and Lyns is 0405514408 which is probably the better one of the two being analogue so I would say around lunchtime should be about right if you give me a call early around 9.30-10 am Cobber I will be in a fairly good position to know were I am at and give you tims address
thanks mate

Hey Will We are staying at Robinvale ( banks of the Murray) on easter Sunday night. You could head over there after Narrandera and camp the night with us , then cruise into Morgan on Sunday.?? We had booked you a site at both Grenfell ( saturday night) and Robinvale sunday night. would be good to hook up with you and tucky for the final leg of the trip. Narrandera - I went to about 3 early Hot Rod Nationals there back in the mid 70s. I had a 351w XY Falcon Ute at the time. Was building a 1928 A model C Cab with 289w but never got it finished. They moved the nationals up to Cowra one year . i attended that one and that was the last year i was involved in Rods. Cobber. We are leaving up here about 6.00am saturday. bit over an hour on the F3 then 1 hour getting across towards Penrith . probably a bit quicker now that the M7 is open. i was hoping to be down around penrith by about 8.00 to 8.30 . You know this area better than us so you pick a spot and we will fid you. Maybe Maccas.... just look for the golden horse shoes ... The Big yella "M". Hey Tickos I see your name was on "Loveshacks" original list of morgan attendees. Whats your plans coming with us or not Reddo

Hallo to all the Vinatge Caravaners! We are new to this scene but have an old Broadway bondwood 12ft van that we have painted up and are raring to go on trips with! The van is 1958 and we have done one small trip this weekend to the Classic Boat Show at Stansbury, on the Yorke Peninsula. We live in Ardrossan and have towed the van with a 1963 Alvis 3 litre. No doubt some will wantto make jokes about Pommie cars but we have had innoculations against this. ;D We willnot arrive from our home in Ardossan until the Tuesday PM so hope to see you all then. The chat group looks pretty lively. Any deatils on a programme yet please? Thanks, Mike & Mary Osborne
