G'day All, Just putting the feelers out for a couple of items... 1.) I need two offset hinges (also known as 'stepped hinges') which match this one... If you have all the 3/8" domed head screws that come with them, so much the better, but I can get away without them. And yes, I know these hinges are available from cobber's parts list, but they aren't available in nickel plated brass, and they don't have the aged patina look about them. 2.) I need one cream coloured push-button handle to match this one... If I can't find a cream one, I have a black one I found in the local "Shed" which I can have a go at painting with cream enamel, but I'd prefer an original matching handle if somebody's got one. Got me fingers and toes crossed for both items... cheers, Al.

PM sent, jg33 - thankyou! hellsbells, if they were around $6 they are probably the nickel plated steel versions. I already have some new ones of those but wanted the nickel plated brass versions (which don't seem to be available these days - plain brass yes, but nickel plated no.) cheers, Al.

hellsbells, if they were around $6 they are probably the nickel plated steel versions) cheers, Al. Al, yes they are most likely steel although they looked more like chrome plated to me. When you put chrome and nickel side by side, to me, nickel looks grey/brown and chrome looks blue....definitely better to match than mix? Good luck with your project! Helen

hellsbells, one of the three hinges on the wardrobe in the van has been changed at some time, and a steel-based hinge has been fitted. After however many years, that hinge is now showing some serious rusting... A fridge magnet sticking to the hinge confirms it is steel based... (And how about that vintage mobile phone in the background, huh?!! None of that modern stuff for me!! ;D ;D ) If jg33 sends me three brass-based hinges, I'll be able to ditch that rusty one as well. cheers, Al.

Hi Al
Can I put my hand up for that rusty hinge you want to ditch? I have a broken one on the ice box in my bondwood and it will match all the other rusty ones in the van until I decide what I will do with them, replace or re-plate.

Just rounding off this thread to say that the hinges arrived today from jg33, so a BIG thankyou to you! After a good scrub with some soapy steel wool, they ended up looking heaps better than the other hinges I already had in the van. I can now send the spare rusty old hinge to griffin, which means two people will benefit from the generosity of one member. How good is that?!! cheers, Al.

Hi All It must be the month for it. I'm fixing up our van and find I'm missing one push button handle, exactly like the one picture in this thread that Al was looking for for his Newcastle rebuild. Any chance someone has one floating around that they could spare, and I could buy off you? Otherwise I'll be doing what I did last year, using the small screwdriver to poke the catch through the hole in the cupboard door. Cheers Seeshell

Hi Mr and Mrs Kaybee Thanks very much - I really appreciate it! To match the others in the van, I'll paint it. So maybe it makes sense to take the lone muddy pink, and leave the multiple greens which might make up a set? Let me know how to sort you out - cash donations, firstborn, etc. Cheers Seeshell
