it had begun. I have been at it for the last 3 days and am getting a lot done ;D. I have stripped paint from all the exterior to find that I have Alply walls . So my van has to be made in 1956 or later. I have removed the inner lining to the back section to replace the wood rotten timbers. So far all is going well. ;D Mom and dad are loving the restorations and cant wait until they are finished so we can enjoy the van. Does anyone know what stove was in these vans when they came out?

G'day Gypsyqueen73 Hard to say decisively. Probably a metho stove to begin with. I presume there's no indication of there being any gas lines in your van, so I'm guessing it wasn't a gas stove (Portagas was introduced into the caravan market in NSW in 1956). If you scroll down to Reply #19 in my thread , you'll see a couple of photos of metho stoves. cheers, Al.
