G'Day Don Thanks for the good wishers and information on the year of build. The van just needed the tyres inflated and the door side of the van roped down and off we went, But I will say we only towed it about 30 km to my brothers place at Glasshouse mtns as we ran out of daylight. I will just need to go back and get some taillights going and a police permit and home it comes. Looking forward to the rebuild, with the help of a mate (cabinetmaker) should not take to long. My wife is all ready looking for the new curtains. We will post photos of the reno on the site when we start. Regards David dosse.

G'Day A/T RE. The stabilizer on the don are all hollow and I agree with cobber it must have suffered a mishap some-where a-long the line. I would re-place it with a solid bar. Regards David.

G'Day A/T Your resto and progress looks great. You and I are going through the same questions about tow-coupling, 240 power socket and the don badges. In the interest of safety this is not some-thing we need to agonize over when it comes down to our family safety and other road- users. Our don 120 will be getting a new tow- coupling with hand brake, ( better than two bricks) and safety chains and out-side power socket ( old one off a van earlee and I rated) Regards David dosse.

G'day Jailbarjuice Great that you are home safe after wintersun.Acquired our little van in may 2001 from the original owner, both she and the van were in a retirement home. The ladys son used to tow it to fingle every xmas for six weeks as her husband had passed away. As you can see made by Athol Hedges, not sure of the year.Hedges manufactured many things, including truck/bus bodies, work site vans for councils and canopies for utes. The company was sold to AB Denning coaches,no longer in Northgate but still in brisbane.I would love to here from anyone with information on Athol Hedges.PS have talked to suzann and matt about Kingsciff beach holday park and are keen on what we have discussed for our next weekend away, more later on that. G'day All Happy new year to all our friends in vintage van land. We have a few more photos of the progress we are making with the Don. I'st a photo of the new hardware we have purchased for the interior.....handles, cupboard hinges, latches and window stays, just to name a few. We are painting the cupboard doors at the moment. here are some photos of the outside. We have chosen the colour scheme to match our new tow car we are restoring which is, a 1961 series 3 humber super snipe.

G'Day All Well we are still making good progress on our don 120. The external ply sheets are being fitted and my good wife has acquired some period curtain martial this week. One issue we have encounted is when the don were made the roof was just one long large sheet of ply ( no joins) we are only using 4 foot sheets. What this means is that we have had to put extra bows or timber in the roof frame where our new sheets join. Other than this every-thing is going well, we feel that the don will be ready for the next south-east qld week-end in feb 08. Regards David dosse.
