The time has come - no storage and a lack of motivation, means I have decided to sell my cherished and loved Lantern Van. It still needs finishing off in a few areas but is useable. It is 16.5 feet long, has leadlights, sliding flyscreens, large ice box, needs a bed frame and a bit of painting. All of the hard work is done and it has heaps and heaps of character. It is currently located in northern sydney suburbs and it will be going back to Brisbane after Cowra, if not sold before. Below is the latest pic of it externally. To see some of its recent history click on the following thread ... vintagecaravans.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=photo&action=display&thread=1182&page=2pm me if interested. I havent decided a sale price as yet but it will be very reasonable.

EARLEE!!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING !!!.........THINK ABOUT IT MAN !!!! What do you need to recover motivation.... come to Cowra and enjoy the people drooling over your 1930's caravan....there, I've said it, 1930's caravan (that title will not be automatically transferable to any new owner) You have spent so much time (seven years exactly) tormenting me about the age of this van, and so much time and labor bringing this van back to a usable condition that you have to now use it ....enjoy it.... love it.... be proud of it................. man what are you doing Cobber.

Hi - I am a brand new member as of yesterday - another located in the far north of Qld! - just a bit south of Cairns. I've been admiring and even bidding on a few beautiful vintage vans over the last 18 months - no luck yet - but I am swooning at the sight of the Lantern!. Eager to hear price etc when available - and how/if she goes. I have an EK Holden "Pearl' who is looking for a partner! Cheers for now Judithjewel

I shouldn't have brought this thread back into the spotlight. I've created unwanted attention and competition. Haha.

Hi Gilbert ( and others),
It would be more appropriate to discuss van prices with the sellers, by sending them PM's instead of discussing prices on the Forum.
I know a lot of people dont want to discuss sale prices in the open for their sales. Some are happy to, some not.
This is not being critical of you or anyone else, just saying what I have observed over the years on this Forum.
Whatever happens, its a great van & wouldnt need a hell of a lot more done to finish it.

I really hope that whoever buys this van will appreciate the work that's already gone into it and ensure it is maintained. This is one van that really needs to be loved and preserved. Just wish I had the space for it myself

Well the lantern van is back in Brisbane and due to circumstances out side of my control.... it will be sold hopefully to whoever makes me a decent offer within the next 2 weeks. So now is your chance to secure lantern van at a very reasonable price. Inspection at Nundah in Brisbane.. pm me for my details. earlee.
