Hi, I have just joined today and I am looking to purchase a Caravan to tow with my 1957 FE Panvelvan when I get it back on the road. I have really enjoyed reading through the forum and looking forward to becoming an active member.
I came across a van Im wanting to buying but dont know how to know if its a good buy or not. Im not fimiliar with the value of Caravans.
Its a 1963 Millard Florida.Last rgistered in 1977 and stored in a shed since. It is in original condition and no modification. It still has the icebox and a metho stove. It has done very little work in its life.It is raw silver aluminium with a colored section on the sides.
I know it could be registered tomorrow and I could head off in a trip as its roadworthy.
Does anyone here have one or anything I should be aware of before purchasing it. I cant find any around to compare too.

Hi there campdog, policy of the forum is no discussion on van prices so your not going to get a huge response, what I can say and say to many, be it a van/car/boat or whatever there are two guiding factors 1/ what the seller wants and 2/ what the buyer is prepared to pay, meaning you will meet somewhere in the middle with a price you are both happy with having said all that the van you have found looks and sounds great and would be a good buy but as for the price that's your decission, good luck.

G'day John, The easiest way to get a ballpark valuation for Millards is to do an Advanced search on ebay for completed listings for Millards. You'll see four pages of them. You look through all four pages to see what people have paid for Millard vans, and also what prices people have refused to pay for them. You will surely end up with a feel for the sort of price the van you're looking at is "worth". The other way to look at pricing these vans is to determine what you'd sell it for if YOU owned it and were selling it. Even if you didn't know anything about caravans, if you were forced to sell this van, how much would you sell it for? Result: There's your personal valuation. cheers, Al.

Thankyou for replying to my question. That gives me a few things to work on. I just thought that not having a fridge or stove etc would bump the cost up by the time i started to use it. Im over the camp trailer bit so I could flog it off to help cover the costs of buying the Van.
Ill have a look on ebay and go from there and that should help me decide. Just with it beibg for sale for so long and no one buying iy I thought it might be a bit expensive.
Thanks Again John

Back again. Looking around this forum is great fun and informative. Thanks for the adcice here. Al I took your advice and searchrd around and came up with a figure. I realised the van has been for sale for quiet a while and no buyer in sight. I mad an offer today and the owner is thinking about it. Its somewhere in the middle so hopefully I will get it. Being an old van without fridge, stove ets I will have to outlay a bit to get it where I want it, just have to wait a few weeks for an answer.

Thanks, Im not getting too excited but I hope it works out. Im going to go over the van and have a really good look before commiting myself. If this one falls through Ill just keep looking. Im not looking for a project van, I want to be able to hook on now and get out and about with the cameras and get a few more locations for my website and have a tow vehicle and van that people will remember.
