Hi all Its not that far off July. Time to start planning for our annual Vintage van weekend up the mountains. Traditionally we head up there the first weekend in July to dodge the school hols which commence the following week. That would mean Friday 1st, sat 2nd, sund 3rd this year. There was discussion last year about heading to Blackheath this year?? Is that still the concensus ?? Anyone keen on organising this years event...? More to the point .. is anyone still keen on going Check out the rates.. are dogs allowed..ammenities.. camp kitchen.. discount for group bookings?...fireplaces...anybody.. anyone??? Cheers Reddo

Ok Sub zero heros... Heres the mail..... I spoke with Annita today I have put www.vintagecaravans.com name on a dozen sites at Blackheath' 1. We get a group discount for 10 or more vans on site Friday and saturday night.. $30 per night... 2. After a bit of persuading.....Small mutts are allowed 8-)providing they are kept under control and you scoop your poop.... ( and the dogs). 3. There is a brick fireplace we can use... nothing flash but we can at least get warm near it. 4. There is an open camp kitchen.... no enclosed late model flash indoor kitchen... ( bring tarps.. bring thermal underwear... bring rum.... bring port...bring a hot waterbottle ( Maurie will probably bring the blonde waterbottle again) 5. We are all grouped together.. 6. check out time is 10.00am so we can arrive there any time after that and swing onto your site. sites are near the ammenities .. camp kitchen aint much of a walk from our sites. Ok ... here is the link to the park with a few happy snaps on it... also has a link to the parks phone number. www.caravanparkphotos.com.au/blackheath/Sorta looks like Katoombas twin sister don't it... Ring em... tell em ya comin and sort out payment with them. Thats about it from me.... stick ya name here if ya coming. See ya there. Reddo

Hiya Alpine Loonies.... Been thinkin about what we can do about keeping warm on saturday night at Blackheath. While The idea of a team hug in the open air camp kitchen with everyone downing variuos forms of "steam"to keep warm seems like a reasonable way of seeing in our first snow dump while vintage vanning.... i have been googling around the old town and come up with this joint as an alternative venue to eat and celebrate..... well at least until 9.00pm when the doors close and they toss us out on the street.... Does this look like a good place to take refuge for a few hours... www.blackheathgolf.com.au/restaurant.htmlWill leave it open for discussion .. then if its a goa i will ring and reserve a table or two for us Friday night will probably be the usual party on at camp or we could head for the pub up on the main drag and clean up on the meat raffles... gardnersinn.com.au/home.htmlplenty of time ta mull it over.. just take your time and check the links i have thrown up here... waddya reckon??? Keep ya hands to yaself in the back row of the flicks a that B grade movie maurie.. ... no rollin jaffas down the aisles... no throwing pop corn in the air either. Reddo

Hi Maurie and Dave Thanks for the ...... Bump. I needed that. Can those that are going to Blackheath please go back over the posts and have a look at the links to the Golf club( pardon the pun... links.. ... golf ..) and the pub... See what yas reckon.?? If we are gunna have a session in a warm ... cosy enviro on the saturday night we might have to book a chunk of the restraunt early so we dont end up squished in the main bar eating smiths chips for dinner... Sorta thinkin if we leave organising this until we get to the van park we might not get a leg in the door anywhere and we will end up partying in an open camp kitchen again... Brrrrrrrrr. Lemme know soon...just give me numbers and the venue and i will do the rest... Act now to avoid dissapointment... ya gunna be disadvantaged enough having ta eat n drink with me... let alone having to suffer in the SNOW ;D Reddo

We came through Blackheath on the 11th May............and there was snow on the ground then ...............but you should have seen the snow between Lithgow and Bathurst. I believe it made the news. Took a picture of Lilly in the snow at Blayney..........and you have to point her out in the picture.........she's camouflaged I am not really a fan of snow.............or cold weather. Enjoy Blackheath....while I put another log on the fire ;D ;D

Hi All Firstly let me apologise for not waiting for more input from those going to Blackheath as to where to eat on saturday night?? I have taken the liberty of phoning the Golf Club and booking 20 seats . Keeping in mind that the sun goes down around 5 i have booked the tables for around 6.30pm dinner. The restaraunt shuts at 9.00pm .. and i reckon the rest of the club wont be far off closing by then too... So.. getting in early for dinner will allow us a little bit of time for a swill at the bar The girly i spoke to at the club said that the van park is about a 3 min drive from the flog club. .. That probably equates to a 15 min walk. I will check it out when we get down there on the friday.. If the walk looks like it will send Geoffs pacemaker off the scale i will try and organise a mini bus / courtsey bus of some sort for the armless .. the legless .. the blind and insane ...frail and infirm ( yup .. me included) Also touched base with the van park... They are looking forward to seeing us.. we are all in one group.....still have room for a few more if anyone is a late entry. Cheers for now .... Reddashingthroughthesnowinafjholdenute
