G'day Maurie, Bob and Dot now there is a couple who know how to collect "stuff" to decorate a vintage caravan. What are they towing these days ? they use to have a van with the smallest wheels I've ever seen on a caravan In these photos taken at Dunedoo and Dubbo in 1994 ..you can pick their rig among all the FX's and FJ's Cobber.

Aaaah well Maurie.. we tried.. I got him to reply....but.... All he could manage was to change the subject and talk about small wheels on caravans He is obviously turning all soft and mushy in his "senior years" and no ammount of stirring will shift him from home and the fireplace...... Maybe he was frightened by a bloke in a big red suit at some stage .... hates snow.. and Christmas in July... scarred for life...... Reddo

hey reddo
i talked to cobber on the phone today and mentioned how nice it would be for he and yvonne to run into his old touring mates again and there was a glimpse of hope shining through the snow.
i wouldn't come out and say that cobber will come, but he didn't actually say no to the idea.
they say that where there's life, there's hope and i suspect that there's still a bit of life in the "old dog" yet.

'arold, I know ….I know, you are all such friendly chaps And we do have such good times together...... especially after happy hour And I do enjoy seeing Maurie each time we meet Although he did get me to Blacksmiths under false pretences.... he didn't turn up at all and he dudded me at Motorfest this year.... only 50% of him turned up so I don't know if he is to be trusted. But Bob and Dot........ true blue, dinky-di …salt of the earth..... and they do have some great collectables Would be good to see them again . (I've got a horrible feeling I'm going to regret posting this) Albert Esq.

Cool..... I think i have had the desired effect ... See you and Yvonne about mid-day Friday then Cobber... Ummm.... that is... with car and vintage van in tow..... Turn up in a car with no van on behind and "security"at the park gate will make sure you travel no further. Bloody hell cobber... how far into the archives did you have to dig to come up with those photos of the first east coast tour?? I still have the dunny seat ring .. ... but most of the names have smudged. Now that i have the photo on file i can ask those who attended to "re-sign"it. Then i will spray it in a coat of clear.. It got smudged one night when i got "caught short "on the way to the toilets at Coledale. Had to press it into "action.".. couldnt figure why i had everyone on the tours signature on my bum the next morning..... ;D ;D ;D ;D Thanks mate... Not too sure about the photo of Maurie and Geoff??? Best let them explain that one away Can only guess it was some sort of impromtu "prostrate examination".... But i cant explain why it was happening in the middle of a very busy Sydney street during Motorfest......in the middle of the day..... with 10,000 bystanders looking on......... Did Maurie sit on Geoff car keys??? ;D Reddo

Hi All. Please accept my apologies for not attending this years Xmas in July. Approx 7 weeks ago my wife Trishas eldest sister collapsed at work. She was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with a massive blood clot deep in the brain. Helicoptered staright to Sydney. She was in Royal North Shore Hospital for 3 weeks before the swelling went down and the specialists felt i was safe to operate. We have been up and down the highway to sydney just about every weekend since. Operation took around 11 hours. Kath was in an induced coma for a week and a half. They brought her around 2 weeks ago. No signs of movement anywhere since . One eye open. We recieved news last night that the brain had swollen again and she was going back into emergency surgery. We recieved a call this arvo stating Kath is on life support ,the docs want a meeting with the family tomorrow. They have her on life support and given her 2 days to live. Sooo... needless to say.. caravans are the last thing on the agenda here at the moment. I recieved a call from the Blackheath Golf club earlier today before i recieved the news from the hospital. Can someone go up to the Blackheath Golf club and collect a couple of menus, take em down to the park and try and sort out what everyone would like for dinner saturday night.. Then drop the order back to the club by lunch time saturday. It is not critical to have everyones order... just be helpfull if they have an idea what you guys would like for dinner ( ithink i had the tables booked for 6.30pm) to help speed up the process when 30 of you lob up there .. I promised i would do that .. So hopefully someone can pick up the batton for me. Thanx in advance. See yas next time i am looking at you.. Will check for PM's Thursday arvo. Best not to clutter this thread with replys. Regards Reddo and Trish

Hi All Firstly let me thank everyone who pm'd me re:Trishas sister.
After meeting with the neurologist yesterday morning at the hospital , Sadly the family had to make the hard decision to turn off Kaths life support system at 12.30pm.
Needless to say it was a very quiet trip back to Newcastle in the car. Me driving Trish and her mum back home.
There is a lot to be done betwen now and the funeral next tuesday..... out of the blue last night Trish said that i should go to Blackheath for the weekend and leave her to work with her family . I let it ride until this afternoon and asked her if what she had said yesterday was still OK?? It is,,,, I would have liked her to come along too .. but she wont. So.... I guess i will catch everyone around lunchtime Friday at "Bleakheath"
Regards Reddo

Dear frens We tried..... we really did try to join you happy campers at Blackheath this weekend.... how could we resist after all the nice things you said to encourage us to make the trip. I hooked up the rig.... got as far as the hill at the top of our street and................................... the batteries went flat News of Bob and Dot coming along might be just the trick to coax Cobber and Yvonne away from next to the fireplace He is obviously turning all soft and mushy in his "senior years" and no ammount of stirring will shift him from home and the fireplace...... hey reddo they say that where there's life, there's hope and i suspect that there's still a bit of life in the "old dog" yet. hi all just got back from blackheath. it was a great weekend, bit chilly (even too cold for our well respected bare-bummed santa to appear) but unfortunately not chilly enough for a spread of snow - maybe next year. nothing outstanding except to say maurie almost got us all thrown out at the park for having his stereo up too load at the ungodly hour of 5pm, but a really good, casual, layback weekend sipping on a few beers with good friends and a bottle or more of the infamous safeway grange (that larry and geoff were loathe to share). we had the pleasure of neil & cherly come down from queensland, larry was on his way back to victoria so he dropped in for the weekend and col, kris, dale, kylie & shelby (not the mustang) flew up from victoria to join us saturday/sunday to see the snow (bummer about no snow though) so that made it all the better plus mamma and papparazzi flew over from wa to do a photoshoot - so we can look forward to seeing that in future caravan mags. almost got a visit from some more local older members but i heard their old holden chose not to start, knowing it was heading toward possible snowfields - maybe next year. thanks reddo for organizing it all and for getting us into the golf club for dinner saturday night. reddo's got some piccies of our impromptu camp kitchen so i'll leave him to show you that plus more, but here's a few van piccies to tantalize your tastebuds (forgot to take any of the people). geoff 'n jude

Yooooo.... Well gang the sub zero heroes didnt quite live up to thier name at Blackheath..... in fact i dont think the temp dropped below about 5C. Still, it was a bit cold and draughty in the makeshift party zone at the Rear of my van on friday and saturday night. Was great catching up with all the regulars as well as meeting new friends Bob and Dot with thier immaculate FC Holden and tidy old Bondy. Also met John and Sue with the very nice TD 2000 -sports car. They have become hooked on Teardrops .. even snuck the TD up in front of Mauries Teardrop for a photro shoot while he wasnt around. Good to strike up old friendships with mamma and papparazzi in from W.A The Kaybee tribe who where up at 4.00am saturday to catch the plane to Sydney... train to Penrith .. and then hire car to Blackheath for the weekend. Other interstaters where NeilnCheryl with the old bondy on behind the faithfull HR Holden ute... So... not a big gathering but plenty of interstate visitors... Heres a few piccies.. Cold and shivering??.. direct from the shed of invention is the "drop side heater".. works a treat ;D Early stages of the "Club Dero Party zone" night club.. A few hearty soles waiting for the band to arrive... Even the old fella in the red suit turned up.... and complained he couldnt fit down my chimney... 2 hours later... and still waiting for the band... Coupla shots of the vans on saturday morning... took a drive down the Megalong Valley..... lotsa twisty bits , through some of the prettiest rainforest i have ever seen.... spotted an old Carapark down in the valley... Back up out of the valley and over to Hargreaves lookout...... The crowd headed over to the Hotel Carrington at Katoomba for a beer on saturday arvo.... I caught up on some badly needed sleep.. WE headed up to the Golf club for Dinner.... a good time was had by all. Back to club Dero...... and .. wait for the band.. They didnt tun up so we all headed off to bed around 10pm. all exceptr Larrys mutt "Mitzy"... i watched her head back down to Larys van with her little red flashing light on the back of her sports coat.. I showed the missus when i got home.. she is getting one for me... ;D Unfortunjately the "Keeper of the website flag"" couldnt make it up the mountain due to his mobilty scooter giving upthe ghost.... So we had to for-go the flag raising ceremony Due to the "Äverage"condition of the camp kitchen at both Blackheath and Katoomba parks it has been suggested that we move this event to somewhere else next year... One of the better ideas was "Bowral"in the southern Highlands... Really no difference in travelling time for me. So i would be happy to give Bowral a try.. Would be good if someone can do a day trip down there and check the park out for us.. Of course we are open to there suggestions .... preferably in the high country.. plenty of time in spring and summer to hit the coast. Anyhow.... thats it from me as far as the weekend went. Car went good. Looking forward to the next outing . Regards Reddo

Bowral sounds good but lets try and find a park that allows a campfire if we can....the old camp TV makes the difference I reckon!!!! jenno PS I was so glad that Sue (my cousin)and John came along and enjoyed themselves. Great that she saw the pathfinder in the flesh for the first time and even better that she may have the VV bug. The teardrop did look great on the back of her TD
