Hi, Has anyone got an old looking water pump/tap . My newly acquired castle has a plastic one. That just will not do. Perhaps there is a modern S/Steel alternative? Of course i would prefer something OLD. Thanks Cruz

Hi Seashell. If your pump won't work, apparently you can still buy the washer kits. Not sure if it's mentioned in the technical section, but from memory, Reddo may be able to tell you where to get it. Ray

Thank you Ray Hmm! I will chase up Reddo then - the internals of it look like a few washers (metal) and something approaching a rubber sink stopper. Odd and I have no idea how it works - so it's been trial and more error than anything else. Mine looks a bit like Jenniwren's but it's chrome with a chrome arm and black bakelite/hard plastic ball at the end. Ta again! Seeshell

G'day cruz, The two brands that seem to dominate the market at the moment are Fynspray and Whale. Fynspray parts are available for refurbishing the old chrome pumps in our vans (as per Roehm's mention of reddo, who is a good contact). The current pump-action taps available on the market are: 1. Fynspray hand pump2. Whale Flipper pump Mk4Neither of them are what you'd consider "old looking". With all the old "abandoned" vans being posted on the forum lately, you'd have to hope that one of them has a decent old hand pump in it, ay?!. cheers, Al

Ah Al! Is that what I do? Buy a new Fyn and cannibalize it for parts? Cheers Seeshell

No, you get in touch with reddo, and see if he can buy the parts kit that is needed. However, first you've got to check if your pump is a Fynspray type pump, which from your description, sounds like it isn't. I think I've got one like you've described, that came out of a Millard van. Having just now seen the link you put to the ebay van showing the sink tap, I retract what I've just said. Yep, get in touch with reddo. Works like a bike pump held vertically...pull ball up, push ball down. Need university degree...VERY complicated...except for Chemists. cheers, Al.
