JUST CARS AUTO SPECTACULAR SWAP/SHOW & SHINE Around the swap meets and car shows in the past two weeks I've run into a few of our group who mentioned the Nanango Swap Meet /Show and Shine on 3rd October. (Nanango is located northwest of brisbane on the way to Kingaroy.) A run down on the wekend on offer as per the flyer:- It is the JUST CARS AUTO SPECTACULAR sponsored by Just Cars Magazine Friday night - Legends of Football Saturday morning - Nanango's Mighty Flea market Saturday afternoon - Horse racing Saturday evening - "Funfest Street parade Footrace Amusements - Fireworks and entertainment Sunday - Swap meet (car parts only ) and Show and Shine Proceeds go towards RACQ Careflight rescue and the Nanango Community.
Previously they have said due to the flea market set up was only from Saturday afternoon BUT I spoke to the organisers today and they mentioned our group could gain access from Thursday or Friday and have continued access to an area close to ameneties and power. Camping fees are set at $ 8 per person per night on powered site.
The flyer mentions this is the 10th anniversary of the event and they welcome Car clubs - Trade Stalls and Displays BUT No Bric a brac stalls at the swap meet.
This is a month before Canungra but looks like something for everyone and as mentioned a few of our group had already thought about going. It would be arrival on Friday 1st October and home on Sunday 3rd October with a few bargains from the swap meet.
If others are interested I can set it up as a definate with the organisers. ROLLYDOG

Hi Rollydog,
I wil try and make it, I have a friend that lives in Nanango and I keep threatening to visit, so perhaps this will be the weekend to do it.
Having said that, I will add this weekend into the mix of the other October events, i.e. East Cost Tour and Coledale and see closer to the time (work wise), what I can and can't do.
Regards Di

Looks like I'll have the 4wd to tow the Munro for this one. Just got told the boss is away on hols then so will have to wait till after work on the Friday to leave hence the Nissan will make it a quicker run. Anyone coming into the shop to get tyres done after 3.30pm forget it. I'll be off early. With the weekend entertainment, markets and swap meet it should be an interesting event. Rollydog

The organisers of the Swap meet weekend rang to say everything is good to go with an area allocated for our group from Friday morning onwards but they would like an idea on numbers in case we need a bit more room. So far we have Sutcacs Di 1954 homemade Dave and Lynne Rollydog Banno Tallisman Dosse Bob & Jaquie by 4 sites With the entertainment, markets, swap meet, show and shine and other activities there will be something for everyone at this event. Hi All,
I won't be going down early to Sydney now, so should be ok for Nanango.
Also I spoke to Scootman last night and he is hoping to make it as well.

Spoke to a few people who reckon the weekend at Nanango has been great in the past but looks bigger and better this weekend. One query I had is the flyers say no admittance for camping before Saturday afternoon BUT that is not for us. !!!
The organisers have put aside an area and access for the Vintage Caravans with access from Friday morning. I'lll post details of entrance location etc a week before the event but keep getting names in so I can let the organisers know roughly how much room we'll need. Rollydog

In response to a few inquiries about dogs the organisers have advised that unfortunately no dogs are allowed at the camp ground/flea market or swap meet.

Hi Rolly-Dog,
Please include John, Lynne & Tamara in this weekend for Nanango but we will be arriving very early Saturday morning and staying Saturday night and leave sunday.
We can't make it Friday night due to other commitments at this stage but will notify you if situation changes.
Any suggestions for Saturday night tea, or just cook up our own or to the local pub in town or maybe something will be available? Has anyone heard anything as yet or has anyone got any suggestions?
I can't wait to go as the flea market is hugh in October.
Regards,
John & Lynne

I think we make this event very informal and see what happens. Once we know more about the street parade and other entertainment saturday night we can make a decision on dinner. I won't get there until 6.30 or so Friday night but I think most are heading up friday lunch time or so.
Combination of flea market saturday and swap meep sunday means putting a few pennies aside for the weekend. Don't forget the show and shine sunday. Sutcac won with his car and van a few years back. Rollydog

Only two weeks now till this event so time to get ready.
I have had a few people mention they are going but haven't confirmed on here so if your name isn't on the list please put a note on this thread or send me a PM so that I can let the organisers know how many vans we need space for. Di 1954 homemade Dave and Lynne Rollydog Tallisman Dosse Bob & Jaquie by 4 sites JonDi John Lyn Tamara Julie & Trevor (& new ali van)
With it being a new venue for us and the entertainment and markets etc it should be a great weekend plus being a car parts only swap meet you may find that part you've been searching for to use in your old van or car.

Hi Rollydog We are trying to get the Propert on the road so we can get to Nanango Frid arvo, staying Frid & Sat nights. It's too far/slow for us to take the Overland towed by the ute so we want the Propert ready to be towed by car. We're up to sanding stage & hope to get it painted. Will not have kitchen sink or curtains most likely. Will let you know if we can't make it. Di, I'll bring those blue/white melamine plates & Propert tongs for you if we get there! Cheers Cathie & Rob

A few people I have spoken to reckon this is generally a pretty good swap meet so it could be interesting what parts our people find up there.

Dear Cathie and Rob, Glad to hear that you are getting things done on the Propert. Don't worry, I still don't have a kitchen sink or curtains, so you won't be the only one ;D I'm hoping to have the curtains done before the East Coast Tour, but might be pushing it abit. I had forgotten about the melamine plates, so thanks for remininding me, I nearly purchased some this morning. I didn't forget about the tongs though Hope you can get the Propert up to travelling stage, it will be good catching up again. Luv Di

For any Hot Rods attending the Travel permit for this event is ASRF TC 216D. The event is nominated as a fundraiser for charities including Careflight Helicopter Services and Nanango Community groups so SIVS registered cars are also covered. The main flyer for this event can be found at nanango.biz/swap/Rollydog
