DIRECTIONS TO NANANGO SHOWGROUNDS. Just about everyone will be coming in from the Kilcoy way so here are directions once you hit the town.
. Look for the Peanut wagon on the side of the road on your way into Nanango. (stop & buy some genuine Kingaroy peanuts)
From the Peanut wagon straight ahead through detour at bridge work next turn left into APPEN Street Follow Appen Street to top of hill-Cairns st intersection- continue straight ahead through intersection-street changes name to Brooklands rd-Take next right which is obviously new bitumen but unsigned continue 100mtrs approx to show ground gate which is on right.
At this stage we are the only group with permission to camp there Friday night. Unfortunately I need to do some work on the Munro so will be tenting for the weekend. This will make it a little quicker for me with the Hunter as I'll just have a box trailer in tow for the 2.5 hr trip Friday afternoon. Rollydog

Hi all
Unfortunately we won't be making it to Nanango. The weather here has been cloudy lately & we don't want to take the Propert on her first run before the paint is dry. So many little bits & pieces to get back on her as well. Have fun everyone, see you at Canungra ! Cathie & Rob

Dear Cathie and Rob,
What a shame that you won't make it to Nanango, but if the van isn't ready then it isn't ready.
See you at Canungra.
All the best Di

hq4u. Not a problem. Just introduce yourself when you arrive. We are a friendly bunch. Checked today that the camping is $8 per person per night but Noel is checking to see if he can do any better. I asked him about meals saturday night and here is part of his reply. ""Sat night is the one night of the year when you can't fire a rifle down the main street after dark and not hit any- one. The Funfest takes care of that There is a pizza shop a chinese rest. two burger shops two hotels the R. S. L. plus the Funfest night entertainment in Pioneer Park with lots of food stalls and the big stage acts Fireworks at 8-oo pm approx. ""
There is obviously a choice of venues for a saturday night dinner but there is always the option of Pizza at the park where we are camped and then have a look around the festival activities. Just a thought but obviously lots to do there. I've revised my arrival to app 7pm Friday so see you all then. Rollydog

"IMPORTANT UPDATE" This only just came through re directions for entering on Friday. "Contrary to the mud map directions the entrance gate until 10pm tomorrow night will be halfway up Cairns street on left. Cairns street is street before un named street on right top of hill. " Hopefully these notes will be clearer as you approach or see if it comes up in a GPS. Appologies for this late change of access . Rollydog

Just got back from Nanango after a trouble free trip. Friday night was a bit cold and breezey. We went into town to pickup pizza and returned to find we were locked out of the showgrounds. We finally convinced the gate gestapo to let us in after begging and pleading. Anyway it was good to catch up with friends and quite a few new vanners we hadnt met. Good to see Di and new partner Gary bring the new Propert. ( We want to build one). Markets were huge Saturday morning and then we were invited to put some of our old cars in the local festival parade which was fun. Saturday night was relaxing sitting around checking out the different vans and a few drinks. Sunday morning the expected massive swap meet was a bit of a fizzer. Maybe the doubtful weather put people off. The sun came out and we got burnt walking around the car show that wasnt too bad. Thanks Rod for organising the camping, we had fun . Cheers John and Dianne.

Hi all, Had a great weekend away at Nanango. Thanks to Rod for organising the weekend. Thanks to Geoff for taking us in his car for the Street Parade. Can't get over how big the markets were on the Saturday, we got some bargains. Will have to try and go again before Christmas, have been told that they will be even bigger then. Even though the swap meet and car show wasn't as big as expected, we still purchased something Many thanks for welcoming Gary into the group - he had a great time. I've never laughed so much trying to fit 2 people (1 tall) into one bed. Gary was twisted up like a pretzel. As you can tell by the photos from Ilsa and Dosse, he was trying the floor for size to see if that would be any better than the bed I think we will need to take a tent aswell in future. Regards Di

Hi All,
Looks like we missed another good one. Obviously Rollydogs efforts made it very worthwhile.
Its sometimes difficult for us to get up to the northern events in our group, but that doesnt mean we wouldn't attend if we could.
Hopefully next week the new engine will be fitted to my hotrod after the failure at Wintersun. Its been a big job getting everything together, like all old car rebuilds.
Again hopefully I will get my Dodge back from the body shop by christmas (this year). Everything seems to take forever when you are paying people to do the work instead of doing it yourself.
But you cant be self employed & earning money if you are fixing things.
See you at Canungra (Hopefully)

Thanks to everyone for a great weekend and congrats to those who made the effort to pack up early on Sunday and venture onto the oval for the display. It was a good variety of hotrods, modified sedans, heavy trucks - including Richards International and the caravans. The swap meet was a bit disappointing but today found out that it had been raining heavily at Burpengary on Saturday afternoon which would have caused many stall holders to rethink their plans.
Whilst there were some initial hassles with getting access and establishing exactly where we were camping the facilities and location worked out very well considering this was our first trip there.
I have sent feedback to the organisers and see what happens next year. But considering we had a good camp area to ourselves with the ability to participate in the street parade, show and shine and visit the markets and swap meets we fitted in a big weekend. Add to that the chance to relax in Dosse's Oasis gardens annex with all the plants they bought it certainly was a variety of activities.
For Di's sake next year I'll bring the van with extra insulation to drown out my snoring. I had forgotten how much hassle tenting was, particularly on unlevel ground. See you at Canungra with the Munro.
ROLLYDOG
Ps. good to see some new and old members getting aluminium vans. Trevor and Julie and Debbie and Stan. The tinny side is growing in numbers. RD

Hi Rod, Did you notice how good I was and didn't even mention your snoring or Geoffs for that matter. But now that you mentioned it ;D ;D ;D I'm just amazed that even though I had ear plugs in I could still hear the stereo snoring with you camped on one side of us and Geoff camped on the other. But don't worry too much, I wasn't sleeping anyway because of the cramped space in the Propert. Regards Di
