Hi all .... mods - if i have put this in the wrong place feel free to move it i have a HUGE collection of very old "caravan World" magazines that go back to the very, very very early days of the magazine - it is almost, but not quite a complete collection ... i have been storing these with the intention of "cataloging" them ... and then making them available as an archive reference for v vanners that are trying to chase down a particular article about a particular van etc .... they were given to me by someone who was a long time member on this site but was moving interstate and not able to store them- sorry, i can't remember the persons name unfortunately, my involvement here on this forum has not been as "active" as i would have liked - and considering that i am currently selling both my Don vans - that is unfortunately not likely to change anytime soon .... is there someone here who would like to take over the collection so as to be able to "do it justice" ... there are quite a few boxes of magazines .... it would be far to many to post, so it would probably need to be someone who either lives within cooeee of Sydney or who plans to visit thru here at some point in time ... think that this collection is a valuable resource for the members ... they are not being handed over to be sold or ebayed etc ...but to be kept as a resource for members if interested pls contact me asap via pm ..... regards rod

As someone who has the occasional interest in the history of caravans, I would like to go on record as saying I would KILL to get my hands on these sorts of magazines..., so I might just pop a pm off to Rod to let him know of my interest, and that I live a mere 90kms away from him, and that I regularly go via Sydney to visit relatives, and that I have a 13m x 9m shed I could store them in. Of course, if there is someone else who is interested (...in living a long and fruitful life, I mean), then you might like to carefully consider making (your last) contact with Rod as well. ;D ;D cheers, Al.

STRUTH !!!! I was going to put in a bid for these magazines... but I have carefully considered the consequences of doing so and decided to leave them for the bloke in who's hands they will be most appreciated.... and shared with the forum. There should be lots of good Classic Caravan stuff in there too Al. A generous offer Rod, they will finish up in good hands if Al gets hold of them. Cobber.

Hi All I would like to suggest that this collection be offerred to the National Library in Canberra for long term preservation and be available to all Australians in the years to come. Even if it is offerred to the Library to fill any gaps they have in the current collection and the remainder going to a good home. As some of you know we carry out our research at the Library on Vintage Caravan history and it is a great source for info and they are very helpful. I have send a PM to aussietanker with contact details for the Manager Australian Collection Development Ros McDonald at the Library. Cheers boblor

A fair suggestion Bob but...... I would say let Al have them first, then pass them on to the Library. Al has contributed so much to both vintage and classic forums, and with this resource he will have so much more information in his hands instead of sorting through the library as he has been doing... to great effect. By the time the National library dissects these magazines...sorts them catalogs them... files them we could all be dead Rods decision of course. Nothing is as easy as it first appears aye ? Cobber.

Sounds like a good approach to me. But of course as you say Cobber, it's up to Aussietanker. Don Ricardo
