;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Methinks you are a Vintage Genius Reddo one morning you will wake up looking like a cross between Bert Newton and Rodney Dangerfield If your brain keeps expanding at the way it is going Reddo Mark and Jenny and I talked about it last year in another format I think your thoughts are well timed Roddo I mean Reddo I second your Motion and I know that Mark and Ditzy have a huge amount on there plates lets Keep it simple as we have in the Chev club across the back in WHITE on a POWDER BLUE polo shirt big www.vintage caravans.com and on the front top left our vintage logo as per sticker because we will have freight charges I think make them up in the east as the majority of members are from there or will be in the future can you arrange that Reddo Im sure they would concur with me but Im sure he will let me know so what do you think Mark and Jenny can you discuss it and either ring me or post your thoughts any artwork can be checked by fax and I will buy 4 tee shirts as soon as they are printed so put me down for 4 xxl and two for Billy and pat Corke same size I will be seeing Greg and Noeline I think you can count on them too as we discussed the same thing when we were away so there is $240.00 already as the months are rolling by so quickly If Mr Pooh Bah and soon to be Mrs Pooh bah are in agreeance lets get this plan into action If any other members are keen on the Idea lets Prepay for the shirts to fund it ) ;D ;D all other forum members can you please post your thoughts Will ( Pleeez rush Me 8 Vintage van Polo shirts) no steak knives Im thinking about becoming a vegetarian next week

I think it's a great idea, I'd be happy to put down a deposit. If Reddo can't find anyone to do the shirts there are plenty of places down here and I'm happy to help if I can. Todd

Bloody Bert Newton. .....Why i ought to come straight over there and punch........Now, now Reddo settle down ..... i am sure Will was just joking!!!!! Whoa up just a little here fellas. I seem to remember getting into a bit of a twist when i suggested doing the stickers here at work. Ended up with a bit of east west confusion so i backed down and let Mark and Ditzy organise the design, printing and sales. Its great to hear that people are keen on the idea but we will wait for presidential ascention from Mark as well as final approval of the design. Once we clear those hurdles we can move on. . Can't see the design being a problem if we stick to the sticker design for the front and " www.vintagecaravans.com Australias Touring Heritage" on the back in bold letters. I do have someone over here that can do the shirts .She is a member of the bike club. i will have to check that they are able to do them with all the colours that are in the sticker graphics. As will has suggest pale blue is good or maybe white. A light coloured shirt is cooler than black etc No problem with shirt styles or sizes either . can get super whopper XXXXL bedshirt for Will . Polos are gunna be dearer than T shirts. as is printing on both sides gunna be dearer than just across the front. Anyway folks i am jumping ahead of the starters gun here. I will try and get a rough cost on T shirts and Polos as well as print costs while we are waiting for official word from the Pentagon. Further down the track ........if all is sweet . I suggest starting a "V.V T shirt order" thread under "memirobillia" where people can place their orders. If it turns out to be a non goer then there has been no harm done. i dont mind helping out on a worthy project and my time costs nothing. stay tuned.!!! Hmmmm .... might even buy an el cheapo $2 flea market yip waa brand chinese T shirt and practice up with a texta ready for motorfest. If it rains and the ink runs i can tell em it a 70's style baltic tie dye original worth hundreds. Reddo - fashion designer to vintage vanners around the universe Bloody Bert Newton!!! ... Just one punch ... thats all ... just one.... bloody cheeky Will ...so and so.....let go of my arms and let me at him.........mumble grumble...I oughta unsubscribe ... i got feelins' ya know. Now where's that Panadol again..........Nurse, Oh nurse.

Hi All, Yes Reddo a Tshirt or even a dressier polo shirt is a great idea. I can do a quote if you llike as that is one of the thing I do. I own the "HI PSI" clothing label and although our stock lines are aimed at the doof doof/ turbo/ 4cyl enthusiests ( these are the guys who spend up big ) , I am sure we can come up with something for all my vintage van freinds. Check out our range at www.hipsi.com.au. (shameless free plug ;D ;D). Stay tuned ;D ;D Cheers, Santa28a.

;D ;D ;D OK ok REDDO I apologise That was a dirty dirty low blow!!! Ive been under an inordanite amount of pressure lately Like going away with the van and car and dinner at the foreshore last night and visitors dropping in and bringing cartons of teds with them This pressure has just got to stop I must admit not even I could handle that kind of inuendo But at the Time I was under a net spell much like white line fever and you know what thats like you travel 50 ks and you wonder who was driving in fact the devil made me do it but my intentions were honourable what I meant to say was you will look like a cross between humphrey B Bear and Rodney Dangerfield is that better If your referring to the picture of me waving with Greg near his car acting like a dickhead that means bloating the stomach making a face and waving to the camera Right!!! Thats my excuse and Im sticking to it In the famous words of Sylvester the cat Great suffering socrates Let me at him ! let me at him!! Another great idea Reddo I’ll buy one, but in the mean time I will just sit back and see how this project evolves. Maybe Mark could give us a hint as to how the stickers sold. If everybody who visits this site hasn’t bought one or two---well, what can I say Belinda mentioned that some stickers are coming over here to take to Motorfest. I suppose it will be OK to sell them to anybody (members of the public) who shows an interest in having one, eh? I have often thought that a “Vintage Caravan Calendar” based on some of the caravans in this club would be a seller, it would have to be done well though, better than the one I have done for my own use. Cobber.

Will, 9500 MEGAPIXEL I just bought a 5 megapixel camera, so if yours plays up we could use mine. As you would know there are heaps of printing firms, most of them in fact, who will make calendars using your photos. But I’m thinking national distribution. Every year we see the same old calendars with every shape of dog, cat & shelia on ‘em--Time the public had the opportunity to recall their childhood memories---holidays in Dad’s old caravan. I reckon the idea could be sold to people who do calendars professionally, trouble is, we (this site) have to get paid for the idea. How do we do that, and get national distribution? Cobber.

I've sent 15 stickers to Belinda to sell at Motorfest and we have about 20 left, so sales haven't been HUGE but have been steady. Cheers Mark

A bit of technical advice about t-shirts.
Screen printing is done in fairly sizeable batches, so whoever took this on would have to outlay for the screen, then the printing of a batch of shirts in a range of sizes.
As well as orders you'd need to get some extras done because they won't print more without a minimum number. That means having a stock of t-shirts hanging around in the house, perhaps for some time.
An alternative these days is embroidery, because once the set-up is done they will generally do extras in ones and twos. Embroidery also has the advantage of people getting what garment they want embroidered (as in "I don't like the shirt everyone else has. Could you sew it on this bigger/smaller/cotton one, and also on this pile jacket").
Lots of smaller groups are going for embroidery these days for all these reasons.
In the meantime, the stickers have arrived from Mark and will be available for sale at Motorfest.
cheers
Belinda

Hi Belinda
I have been down the fishing , motorbike, junior soccer club t shirt design, style ,sizes, orders trail a million times. I still have a box of shirts from one of our bike runs 4 years ago.Ordered 40 sold 28. My biggest crime was putting a year date on the design. which meant that no one wanted last years shirt after the first twelve months. Lesson learnt... prepaid orders or no year mentioned on the design. Most places wont set up for less than 20 shirts. Obviuosly the higher the number ordered the cheaprer they become. ... well at least a bit cheaper they become.
In this day and age of computers it doesnt take much to draft up the design, especially when we already have an electronic template of the site logo.
The advantages of embroidery( beside the ones you have mentioned). Is that when the shirt falls apart or gets tomato sauce, red wine of beer stains down the front you can unpick the patch and move it onto a fresh shirt, hat, etc.
Once again it can be done via computer but most patches are no more than pocket size. Would cost a fortune to get the back of the shirts done with something big enough to read at a distance.
Cheers Reddo

8-)hello there, these are a couple of ideas Mark has come up with. the logo of the car and caravan on the pocket or front left of the shirt. And the wording on the back. This can be applied to anytype of shirt and looks good on all. ;D Any one who is willing to take this on is most welcome. If we could find someone who can make the print and then do the shirts by order would be great........... this would prevent having numbers of unsold shirts left....... ( by the way there are still plenty of stickers up for sale) So now lets see what we can get. Just a foot note regarding the logo............... Mark's Dad who was an artist for a Leading WA Newspaper did this........... yes the door is at the back........... but it was done with love............ and interest ,so I would not like to see it changed. The reason for the logo only being small is it is not putting the Holdens ( FX) up front as we all have varied Tow cars and motoring fixations So I hope that you like the ideas...................... cheers

Hi Ditzy See folks i told ya the pentagon would get back to us. The presidents secretary ( No her name aint Monica) has kindly replied . Where to from here??? My thoughts are i will wander off and talk to my contacts for supply of shirts and printing. Santa what about you. Can you get back to us with a price based on Marks design?? . I would imagine that we would get at least 20 names with some people ordering 2 shirts . So would i be out of line by saying a total of 40 shirts being a mix of polo and tee shirts.. Once we get these 2 quotes back we can move on from there. and ask members for sizes, types of shirt and No ordered. Possibly have them ready by Morgan so that we can save on postage to the west coasters. east coasters can pick thiers up at Munmorah or we can mail them C.O.D to those that aren't attending either runs. Don't worry scoot we havent for got you up there in FNQ. Reddo

just confirming what Ditzy said .....the vintage caravan logo on any merchandise must be kept small, the reason being that the tow car is clearly a Holden, and for the sake of non Holden people, the logo must not be IN YOUR FACE Mark

At the risk of getting ousted from the group. Might I suggest that you use a logo similar to the xmas package?
Roos, koalas towing the van? or drinking xxxx on top of the van? or cooking in front of the van?

Hi scoot "Drinking XXXX " keep that up and you will get ousted ;D ;D ;D I appreciate what your saying about having a holden in the logo and that people have other types of towcars. but we also have to consider that some people dont have ply vans as pictured in the logo. what about the sunliner and carapark brigade So.... where does it end. May as well just leave it as is. Not being bias toward Holdens and ply vans here just sayin ya can open a tin of worms if we try and please everbody. I reckon The back of the shirt will say all that needs to be said!!! As Maurie always says "keep Holden On" he,he,he Reddo -

Well Reddo
I can see we can leave this in your capable paws. thank you very much.
I agree with you about the logo. We cannot please everybody. Hey remember I am the Ford Person of the pair.......
The thing is it is the logo for the site................ and just because it was designed by a "one eyed, lion lover" ......
anyway lets leave the worms in the tin and enjoy the fruits of your hard work.. I am looking forward to seeing the results.
Again a big thank you from .................

Ok kiddies All the pots are boiling in the kitchen. I have been cookin up a plan. Grab a cuppa sit back and relax while your ol' Uncle Reddo puts ya ta sleep with a nice bedtime story..... "GEEZ REDDO CAN'T YOU EVER BE SERIOUS ... OK, OK, Ok Listen pubscribers all around OZ. I have just got prices from "Onya Visuals" . You can check this mob out on your 'puter ... go to... ("geez thatsa stupid term iznit.. "GO To" how can i bloody well "Go to" anywhere while i am sitting in front of the idiot box??? Where was I .... Oh yes......Have a Gecko at.... www.onyascreenprinting.com.au I went with a quote for 40 shirts Pale blue. i got prices on t shirts and polo. The cost of the print depends on the number of colours used . E.G : the 6 colours in the Fx and van logo will cost $9.00 as opposed to using 4 colours and costing $7.00. To me we are better off using the 6 and having an exact copy of the logo on the shirt. Read on: SHIRT PRICES BEFORE PRINTING. P800 polo - $14.00ea white Tee- $6.00 ea coloured tee_ $8.00 NO CHINESE CRAP HERE EITHER FOLKS BACK PRINT with lettering identical to the logo and slightly curved as Mark has suggested . white letters shadowed in black $5.00 per print ( 2 colour print) I asked whether this could be superimposed over a map outline of Australia with the map outline line being dark blue. Can be done for $6.00 a print ( 3 colour print) FRONT PRINT They suggested to go with the entire square with the FX + van and surrounding scenery and little map of Australia because it is square and will fit neatly about pocket size on upper left side front. Also include the words"Vintage Caravans- Australias Touring Heritage" underneath in black print at no extra cost. Hey if they are offering we will accept . i reckon this is a good idea, otherwise people will be looking at a picture ( of the worlds best car and vint van;) ) with no explaination of why its hanging off our left tit. . 6 colour front print = $9.00 per print 4 colour front print = $7.00 per print. WWAAAAKKKEEEE UUUUPPPP!!!!! Ok..... don't nod off i am almost finished. Johnny... stop picking your nose!!! From all this garble it works out that if i get a POLO SHIRT with a good 6 colour logo on the front and the three colours words on the back then it will cost $14+$6+$9 = $29.00. I suggest sellin' 'em for $35. If i wanted a COLOURED TEE SHIRT then it would be $8.00+$6+$9 = $23.00 sell em for say....$28 ( I know it adds up to $29 but i hate odd numbers ) $6 profit from each shirt goes to "Marcus Poo-Bahrus" to help feed the starving children in W.A and keep this site up and running. All prices quoted by Onya include set up and Gummimint .Sux .Tax So.... thar ya go... clear as the Murray River waters at Morgan. $35 a polo and $28 a T shirt .... be a trend setter and collect the whole set for $63.00 . You will be the envy of all the kids in the neighbourhood Now if ewes will xscuz me i'm gunna lay down... i am xzorsted ..... My brain is hurtin' ag'in and im stardink 2 mak spellun mistooks. Reddo

Jeez reddo you have been busy ;D ;D I have not got the setup costs worked out yet but should have them early next week. I have done the costings on the shirts and the printing costs. I have worked out the prices on a run of 25 thru to 50 light coloured garments this of corse would change if we did more/less items or dark colours. This is for a 6 colour pocket print and a 2 colour back print. *these are mates rates* Cotton Tees $ 9.70 incl. GST Cotton Polos $17.83 incl GST I have also done a price up on a ladies singlet with only the 2 colour print on it Ladies Singlet $ 9.05 incl. GST I have attatched some photos of the garments, i can also do a dresser version of the polo if anyone is interested, like two tone or with contrasting piping. Cheers, Santa28a
