G'day Bob,
After they remove the bad bits you should feel pretty good.... that's what it's about. Look forward to seeing you at Lake Goldsmith.

Hi Bob,
Hope all goes well, but I'm sure a tough old cookie like you will survive most that gets thrown at him pretty easily.
All the best, & see you at our next event you make it to.

Hi All I am typing this message from my hospital room. Thanks for all your good wishes and speedy recovery, and as boband jacqui stated I am getting over the operation ok, -- but we now have a set back, ---Chemo each fortnight for six months starting about April or when they consider I have recovered from the op. So this means at this point in time that no caravanning is likely to happen this year, --- what a blow, no Lake Goldsmith or Mildura for us. If it means giving up this year and being able to travel the next 5-10 years we will not mind. So there is a message here for all, don't think it only happens to other people, it can happen to you without warning just like me. My surgeon urges every one 50 and over to have a colonoscopy and repeat every 5 years to detect the big C, her youngest patient is 25 years. So if your wish to caravan into your 80's or whatever you want to persue, my advice is to maintain this check. I hope you don't think I am a preacher, but it has been a big shock to us and our families. Cheers from boblor (Bob and Loretta)

G'day boblor, so pleased to hear you've come through the op ok. These sorts of things are never pleasant, and you should congratulate yourself on being in the small percentage of men who actually "go and do something about it". Hope all goes well for you in the coming months. No reason why you won't be caravanning into your 80s. Sounds like you've been attended to in the early stages, so the odds are well in your favour.
I was a bit more luckier than you, and got attended to in the pre-cancerous stage. Now I go for a check-up every two years. My Specialist guarantees I won't die of bowel cancer if I keep to the program. Can get hit by a bus, yes...but there won't be bowel cancer on any death certificate of mine.
More important to tell your siblings and children to now be more aware of any changes noticed. Once you've been detected, there's a greater risk to other blood family (hereditary). My children will have to go for a check-up when they turn 40.
Worst thing about the whole process for me is the rotten Pico-Prep stuff that flushes your system out prior to the colonoscopy.
Sorry to spoil your Maccas everyone, but this issue is BIG news in older men's health, and most men 'don't wanna know'.
Best wishes, boblor
cheers, Al.

Hi Al Thanks for your wishes, and backing up my comments and addingthe important extra bit about your family members. The other important point is, it applies to both male and female. Al if we keep this up we will have VVers in their 90's and going strong. I may not be able to caravan for awhile, but I sure hope I am fit enough tocommunicate on this site and support my Olympic family, Who knows, may find plenty of time for vintage research. Cheers boblor

Hi Bob,
Great to hear you are okay and all is as well as can be expected. My Mother died of bowel cancer as hers was found "far too late". I have a check up every two years.
Guys over 50 should also be aware of bladder cancer, if you get the urge to pee a lot, get it checked. I beat that one, the Doctors found it in the very early stage ;D
Good luck Bob, hope to see you and Loretta at a future QLD meeting.
Cheers, Ron
